Cabir cellphone virus makes a trip Stateside

Cabir cellphone Symbian Series 60 virus

It took its own sweet time getting over here, but two variants of the Cabir cellphone virus has finally made an appearance in the US. No one's exactly sure how the virus, which affects cellphones running on the Symbian Series 60 operating system and was first spotted in the Philippines back in June, made its way to a gadget shop in Santa Monica, California, but the virus jumps from phone to phone to via Bluetooth (which is why it spreads so slowly), so you can probably guess for yourself what must have happened. Cabir doesn't actually do any damage to phones—it's more one of those proof-of-concept things to show how a cellphone virus could spread itself in the wild.
