Must see HDTV shows this week

TitanTV Logo

So you have an HDTV. That's half of the equation; without high quality content, all you have is a big expensive box, right? Let's see if we can do something about that here at HD Beat with a weekly feature. We'll scan the week ahead and make some recommendations for HDTV viewing. Perhaps we can even take some of your recommendations, so don't be shy on the feedback and comments.

If this works well based on your feedback, we'll continue to guide you. We'll also do our best to mix it up as we can't possibly account for every provider and channel. You know us though; we'll certainly try! Full recommendations for the week are available after the jump. Listing information gathered via TitanTV.

Note: All times are Eastern Time.

Sunday, 6/26: "NASCAR" on FOX at 2:30 PM. Racing from Sonoma, California on one of only two road courses for the year. One of the few races you'll see with both left and right turns. (720p)

Monday 6/27: "CSI: Miami" on CBS at 10:00 PM. One of the best reasons for purchasing an HDTV: the colorful and detailed scenery of Miami. Sure, it's a rerun, but you can never get enough of those evidence close-ups in HD, can you? (1080i)

Tuesday 6/28: "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" on HBO HD at 3:00 PM. Hey a little HD never hurt a kid, did it? Yes, they might have viewed this in the theaters or on DVD, but the scenery looks wickedly better in High Definition (1080i)

Wednesday, 6/29: "Road House" on TNT HD at 10:00 PM. Ok, so it's not a four-star movie. It is one of Patrick Swayze's better efforts though and if you've never witnessed a live bar brawl, here's your chance to make up for it. (1080i)

Thursday, 6/30: "Chasing Lance" on Discovery HD at 9:00 AM. Prep yourself for the 2005 Tour de France 48 hours before it starts. Discovery is the primary sponsor of Lance Armstrong and company, so expect some real behind the scenes access. (1080i)

Friday, 7/1: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on NBC at 11:30 PM. Another rerun, but good guest and topics make it worth the while. Two guests you already know: Russell Crowe and Nelly. The other guest is Brady Barr, who will clarify what a "herpetologist" is. Hint: It's not what you think! (1080i)
