A look back at the 360 launch...

Now that both the Nintendo Wii and Playstation 3 have hit the market we can officially declare that the next generation of gaming is here. Over the past couple days one couldn't ignore the PS3 headlines, filled with violence, lust, and craziness. Heck, even the Wii created madness in its followers. So, I think it's not only appropriate, but I think it's the right thing to do for everyone in fanboy world to share their stories of times past. Let's take a look back at the Xbox 360 launch and how you got involved in the community. I'll start ...

I first got my hands on a 360 a week before launch via the Hex 168 contest. Yes, I knew I was the cool kid on the block and felt superior to all. I had a second 360 already on preorder from months previous, so there was no need to stand in line for a midnight launch (thank god, it's freaking cold up north this time of year), but I did partake in eBaying my extra console. I soon attended Zero Hour and fell in love with her. Those curves, that silver smile, and that green glow ... it was love at first sight. At Zero Hour I realized that Microsoft cared about the community and was in this next gen war for the long haul. Weeks after launch I played a few games like Condemned and a tad of PGR 3, but still was faithful toward Halo 2. Yup, that's how I got started in the Xbox 360 community and our PS3/Wii brethren are about to embark on similar journeys. I love you Xbox 360 and I just want you to know that I'm always here for you.
