From gamer to reality TV star -- Halo creator's X Quest shakes up the entertainment industry

Happy Gamer

Spectrum MediaWorks has announced that its MMO, X Quest, will debut next year alongside Fox's integrated reality TV show of the same name. Halo co-creator, Alex Seropian, along with Jim Banister, formed Spectrum MediaWorks three years ago with the hopes of converging entertainment mediums. X Quest, which will be released on the Xbox 360 and PS3, will allow gamers to interact within the virtual universe portrayed in the X Quest television series.

The TV show will focus on two teams of contestants as they compete in a month-long series of missions carried out inside of a virtual space simulator. Gamers will be able to interact with the contestants and directly affect the show's outcome. In addition, the top-ranked players will be given an opportunity to appear on Season 2. X Quest is shaping up to be an ambitious project indeed.
