Hellgate: How much?
If you're after the digital download for Flagship Studio's new title, Hellgate: Londonthrough the EA store, be prepared for a bit of a rude shock, if you're in Australia.
You may have looked at the prices and thought, "US$49.95? That's not bad." Well, it gets worse. Put your card back in your purse. That download is going to cost you quite a bit more than you think.
Having some US dollars on my Paypal account, I thought - no problem, I'll just hop in and grab it. I certainly enjoyed the demo well enough. The only problem is that the EA Store is charging the same for the digital download that you'd expect to pay for a box-copy off a retail shelf.
That price is $89.95 AUD, and the exchange rate at the moment is decidedly unfavorable (depending on how you look at things). Essentially, that digital download will cost you Australians $83 US dollars, plus change. That's $33 USD higher than USA and Canada residents are paying - for the very same digital download.
Is that enough to make you think twice? It is for me.
