Wii Fanboy Review: Dangeresque 3

Following the first, second, and third installments in SBCG4AP, I found myself wondering if the fourth episode could keep the pace of the first three. And it's pretty evident in the first few moments of the game that this is another episode that is setting the bar for humor a bit higher. Frankly, they gave me the whole tub of popcorn, but I only needed the edge.

So, Strong Bad and Homestar Runner fans have been waiting for Dangeresque 3 for years now. Whether or not it'll live up to the expectations of fans is anybody's guess, but it's basically one great episode. The entire episode effectively parodies so many things found in mysteries, dramas, and cop flicks, doing it so well that it provides the experience with a distinction all its own when stacked against the previous installments.

Dangeresque 3 opens up with a rather stylish presentation of the credits and thrusts you into the world almost immediately. While enjoying Renaldo's retirement party, our hero gets the case of a lifetime. It's the tried-and-true tale of the damsel in distress that eventually leads our hero to the jungles of Strongborneo.

Telltale and The Brothers Chaps really hit their stride in this episode. The formula has been working, but this episode has a lot less of the trial-and-error of previous episodes, making it flow much more smoothly and allowed me to easily do what I came here to do: laugh at Strong Bad's antics.

By this point, you've either given the game a try or you haven't. There's no use in describing the game mechanics to you all, because if you've been paying attention, you've seen screens and video. It's pretty cut and dry what it's all about. Wacky characters and that fun adventure genre feeling we all know and love exist here. Whether you're a fan of the genre or the Homestar Runner universe, you'd do well to check out one of the game's episodes (preferably this one). What you'll find is a great experience that will stay with you long after you've concluded the episode. We're anxious to see this whole thing through to the end and we've had one wonderful ride getting here. Do yourself a favor and give SBCG4AP a chance. You won't be disappointed.

Final score: 9/10

We're always looking for new games to enjoy. We've got plenty of other WiiWare reviews, if you're into that kind of thing.. If you're

so crazy that you want to go to the store and buy something when you could be playing World of Goo or Mega Man 9, we can help with that, too.
