WRUP: Schrodinger's hurricane edition

With most of our writers off at the two major conventions over the holiday, this weekend poses an interesting conundrum. Either Hurricane Earl will pass by one of our few non-convention-going writers with nothing more than some wind and a little rain... or it will smash directly into the coast and kill him and his cat alike. But at the time this is written, either could happen. That shan't trouble the other writers of Massively, however, so click past the break to find out where everyone is and what we'll be up to... and what those of us left behind would love to be playing if we got to be at PAX right now! Be sure to let us know what you'll be playing over the weekend in the comments!

Larry Everett (@shaddoe): I will be playing Star Wars: The Old Republic, LEGO Universe, Superhero Squad, and a anything else I can get my hands on at PAX! I will be on twitter the whole time, so be sure to catch me there.

Rubi Bayer (@Rubi_): Much like Larry, I'll be playing things at PAX. Guild Wars 2 is at the top of my list, of course, but once security hauls me away from the demo stations, I'll be checking out Dungeons & Dragons Online, Fallen Earth, and TERA. I'll be on Twitter all weekend too, and don't forget our meetup Saturday night at the Night Kitchen!

Beau Hindman (@Beau_Hindman): I'll be killing and taming demons ALL weekend long in Imagine Online. Then, I'll be trying out three new FTP games for future reference, and hoping to get some time in a few of my favs. Problem is, how much time until I feel like I got a good experience? At least a few hours with each game -- and a total of 12-20 for my Rise and Shiny game.

Eliot Lefebvre: I'm in the Final Fantasy XIV open beta, and so it's going to be tough for me to tear myself away and do anything else. I also still have more stuff to do in City of Heroes, so that's going to keep me occupied. Oh, right, and the holiday weekend celebrations! Assuming we don't all get thrown into a hurricane and die. I would love to be at PAX just to get my hands on Star Wars: The Old Republic and Guild Wars 2, but sadly, it was not to be.

Justin Olivetti (@Sypster): At PAX, my plan is to organize the largest game of freeze tag in the world. Who's with me, 60,000 fellow attendees?

Patrick Mackey (@mackeypb): I'm busting out probably a fair number of hours in Champions Online this weekend, due to the anniversary event. I'll be at the CORP gathering on Saturday, plus I'll be around probably doing missions or roleplaying in the meantime. Meanwhile, probably more Starcraft II (it's really a given) and maybe some other random games. I want to playtest World of Tanks beta phase 2, as it looks absolutely awesome with new maps and modules, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to this weekend. If there were one game at PAX I could play (since I'm not going), it would definitely be a non-MMO, Marvel vs. Capcom 3. I hear Dante has a downward airdash. It looks pretty sexy (Dante, the downward airdash, and MvC3).

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna): Well, I'm minding the Massively store this weekend while everyone's away at the cons, but maybe I can sneak in a bit of time with my current toys -- City of Heroes: Going Rogue and Zentia. In answer to the bonus question... Guild Wars 2, easily. You'd think it'd be SWTOR for a Star Wars geek, but I think GW2 will hold my attention longer, so I'd like to see it in person!

Jeremy Stratton (@Jeremy_Stratton): Week one of my return to university life is almost done, but I will still have some studying over the weekend. I also foolishly thought that I could upgrade my computer on my own. That was total /fail. Luckily, while I wait for my brother to come put my PC together, I can still get my Runes of Magic fix on a laptop. I am very jealous of those attending PAX and would love some hands-on with Guild Wars 2.

Krystalle Voecks (@Krystalle): I'll be up to my eyeballs in Dragon*Con this weekend. As such, I won't be playing any MMOs. I will, however, spend a heck of a lot of time talking about them. If I do manage to get any gaming in at all, it will be Civilization Revolution on my iPhone. Just as addictive as the full-size version, only in a bite-sized package. om nom nom.

Greg Waller: I'm getting my characters all squared away for the DLC coming up for Mass Effect 2. I'll be playing Warhammer Online and Champions Online as well. As far as games at PAX go, I have no idea what's going to be there, but if (in my wildest of dreams) Vigil had a booth with a playable demo for Dark Millennium, I think I would be able to die happy.

At the start of every weekend, we catch up with the Massively staff members and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" (Otherwise known as: WRUP!) Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game -- and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too!
