GameStop discontinuing DS Lite once it sells through rest of its stock

According to the internal memo posted above (via GoNintendo), GameStop won't receive any more DS Lites after current supplies dry up. The memo also asks employees to remove displays for the Crimson, Black, and Metallic Rose models from store shelves once supplies have diminished.

Our sister site Engadget has since gotten in touch with an unnamed GameStop employee who confirmed the news. It makes sense: With the DSi and DSi XL out there, along with the recently launched 3DS, there just isn't much room for the five-year-old base model DS Lite anymore.

We contacted Nintendo, but were summarily given the usual "Nintendo doesn't comment on rumor and speculation" reply.
