Your smartphone and / or tablet is just begging to get updated. From time to time, these mobile devices are blessed with maintenance refreshes, bug fixes, custom ROMs and anything in between, and so many of them are floating around that it's easy for a sizable chunk to get lost in the mix. To make sure they don't escape without notice, we've gathered every possible update, hack, and other miscellaneous tomfoolery from the last week and crammed them into one convenient roundup. If you find something available for your device, please give us a shout at tips at engadget dawt com and let us know. Enjoy!

Official Android updates

  • Samsung Captivate: AT&T's version of the Galaxy S finally has Gingerbread! Sadly, the upgrade can only be performed using Samsung Kies Mini software -- much like the Captivate's Froyo update. [MobileBurn, Samsung]

  • Samsung Galaxy Nexus (GSM): If you missed your chance to update to 4.0.2, it's available once again. Go to settings and manually check for the refresh in order to get it. [AndroidCentral]

  • HTC EVO 3D: Minor maintenance release known as build 2.17.651.5. It adds a security patch, improves battery life and updates the Peep client. The release will be pushed to phones beginning tomorrow, but is available now if you manually check for it. [UnwiredView]

  • Notion Ink Adam: An official Alpha of Android 4.0.3 ICS is now available for download. As always, proceed with caution, and note that not every feature will work on the device yet. [NotionInk, BlogsDNA]
