Recapping the exhibition season
You all were very gracious for letting me have a little fun with Two Bosses Enter and the exhibition season for the past few weeks. I greatly appreciate your giving me that freedom, and thanks to Alex Ziebart, the man himself, for handing me the reins of this show in the first place.
Last season, the tournament held an exhibition series of matches that brought some of the lesser-known faction leaders to the spotlight, giving players a new look at some old faces they may have forgotten over the years or just never knew existed. Many people expressed happiness and fondness over seeing an NPC that had been a staple of their play experience at one point now back to hit their nostalgia button.
Brann Bronzebeard, lovable high explorer of the Explorer's League, dominated early with a built-in fanbase and great fightfiction (it's a new word that I just made up for what it's called when you write about a match) that put him at the top of the charts. Silly antics, accidental Old Gods, and an explosion or two paved the way for a tide of support throughout the entire season.
One interesting characteristic about the season was the number of blood elf combatants that were part of the roster. Honestly, I did this on purpose. I wanted to see how far I could get my favorite race in the tournament. I stacked the deck. For this, I am sorry, but we had to be sure. We had to know so future generations will know for certain that a blood elf will never, ever win Two Bosses Enter.
With the final fight of the season a matchup between two brothers and a generally light atmosphere with these particular matchups, I decided the fight should not be a fight at all-- no, rather, a drinking challenge. For dwarves with the hardiest of stomachs and the ironest of livers will compete for honor and glory. A great victory was to be had. Brann's cunning eventually overhelmed Muradin's brute strength to give Brann the top spot as king of the tournament exhibition season one. Congratulations again, Brann!
Now you get everything you've been waiting for -- the brackets, the matchups, and the wild cards. Start placing your bets, folks.
- Week 1 Echo of Baine vs. Peroth'arn
- Week 2 Echo of Jaina vs. Morchok
- Week 3 Echo of Sylvanas vs. Yor'sajh the Unsleeping
- Week 4 Echo of Tyrande vs. General Zon'ozz
- Week 5 Murozond vs. Archbishop Benedictus
- Week 6: Queen Azshara vs. Hagara Stormbinder
- Week 7 Mannoroth vs. Asira Dawnslayer
- Week 8 Arcurion vs. Lord Godfrey
There they are -- the season three brackets ready and raring to go. Next week, we're kicking off the festivities with the spirit of everyone's favorite new tauren chieftain versus a demon at the top of Legion command. Don't be a satyr hatyr.
Oh. I'm fired
? Because of the satyr hatyr
thing? Alex, please, it was took good to pass ...
Fine. I won't do it again.
