App updates for iOS and OS X that you don't want to miss: December 17 edition

It has been busy in the App Store with a bunch of updates for popular apps such as Pixelmator for the Mac and Glympse. Check out our comprehensive list of notable updates from the past few days below (all prices are USD)!

OS X Updates

Pixelmator [OS X, Category: Graphics & Design, $14.99] Pixelmator is an easy-to-use image editor for OS X. Changes in version 2.1.4 include:

  • Improves Auto Save support

  • Enables layer Auto Select for painting and retouching tools

  • Improves effects' responsiveness when working with large images

  • Improves Adobe Photoshop CS6 brush collections support

  • Fixes important stability issues

  • And much more

CalendarMenu [OS X, Category: Productivity, $3.99] CalendarMenu is an OS X menu bar application that shows upcoming appointments, birthdays and reminders. Changes in version 2.0 include:

  • CalendarMenu 2 is a complete coderewrite with better readability and improved responsiveness of the user interface

  • birthdays are now fetched directly from the OS X address book

  • calendar events and reminders are shown within one single window, so you don't need to flip it any more

  • better readability thanks to a slightly larger window

  • a much more responsive user interface

  • completely rewritten daily and weekly overviews

  • provides a new detail view for calendar events and reminders

  • you can now (de)select calendars and reminder lists separately

  • the calendar section of the main window can now be hidden to only show reminders

Photora [OS X, Category: Photography, $7.99] Easily resize and/or watermark multiple images at once. Changes in version 1.5.0 include:

  • Now inspector is embedded on the main window.

  • Option to add shadow to image watermark.

  • Option to replace existing preset.

  • Support swipe to switch current image.

Animation Desk [OS X, Category: Entertainment, $9.99] Animation Desk for Mac mimics the real working environment of animation production using a digital version of the animation desk. Changes in version 1.2 include:

  • New interface for the Background Manager

  • Ability to import sequence images to each frame

  • Support AD 2.0 project format

  • Support Color Picker

  • New painting tool - fountain pen supported

  • Ability to repeat target frames (similar to X-Sheet)

  • Enhanced animation export performance

  • Brush size adjustment with the command key (keyboard) + mouse

  • Brush opacity adjustment with the alt key (keyboard) + mouse

iOS Updates

Camera + [iPhone, Category: Photo & Video, $0.99] Photo-taking and editing app for the iPhone. Changes in version 3.7 include:

  • We've added a new Quality setting

  • We've also done some optimizing to our recently added Front Flash feature

  • We've made photo importing more robust

Glympse [iOS Universal, Category: Navigation, Free] : Glympse is the easiest way to safely share your location with someone in real time. Changes in version 2.0.5 include:

  • Improved map controls, including autohide, retained zoom level and more

  • New Glympse arrows and trails

  • New location "ping" indicator

  • Improved User bar and Recents screens

  • Swipe to delete for messages, recent contacts, recent destinations

  • New "copy to clipboard" for location of a Glympse sender

  • Added a preview of the Spanish language option (available via app Settings > Languages)

Slow Feeds [iOS Universal, Category: News, $2.99] Smart and simple Google Reader client. Changes in version 2.0 include:

  • Slow Feeds is now a universal app featuring a dedicated iPad interface.

  • Hot Links: Your feeds' recent top stories. Counts and consolidates links in your feeds' articles (like Fever, but for Google Reader).

  • Images: Shows you all the images from all the articles as a beautiful gallery (iOS 6 only).

  • Faster sync and feed analysis performance

  • Inapp browser

  • Fixed a bug that lead to some users being unable to login with their Google Reader credentials.

Scripts Pro [iOS Universal, Category: Productivity, $9.99] Create, edit or review your scripts whenever creativity strikes. Changes in version 3.2.1 include:

  • Script Version History: We've added a useful feature for accessing all of your scripts from any time and day in the past. It's like having your own personal time machine for scripts!

  • PDF Export Option: We got tons of requests for this one so here it is. No inapp purchasing necessary. Simply export your script and you'll see the option for pdf listed. Share with whomever you wish.

  • Updated for iPad Retina, iOS 6, and iPhone 5: Apple keeps updating their stuff and so do we to be compatible. The new retina display should look amazing on your retina iPad. If you have an iPhone 5, enjoy the extra space to read and write your scripts.

  • New richer wood background and UI improvements

  • Various Minor Improvements: We've updated support for desktop screenwriting software formats with Scripts Pro. Added safeguards to prevent loss of work when using multiple devices and limited WiFi availability. Anything else we think could have been improved, we did it.

  • Various Bug Fixes: We're always squashing bugs and this release is no exception. Thanks to everyone for their feedback and bug reports.

WeatherHD [iOS Universal, Category: Weather, $0.99] An accurate weather forecast experience with videos, themes and lots of features. Changes in version 2.2.0 include:

  • New, free holidays theme

  • Update now to enjoy your FREE "New Year" theme. Activate it from the Settings.

  • Also now you can impress your friends and Share your weather condition screen shot through your Twitter account.

Green Kitchen - Healthy vegetarian recipes [iOS Universal, Category:Food & Drink, $3.99] Enjoy creative vegetarian recipes with gorgeous photos and detailed, easy-to-follow instructions. Changes in version 1.6 include:

  • 6 new handpicked premium Christmas recipes

  • Bugfixes

Any.do [iPhone, Category: Productivity, Free] A task manager with cloud sync, Speech recognition, Time & Location Reminders, Folders, Notes and more. Changes in version 1.7 include:

  • Location based reminders - 'Remind me to pick up groceries when I leave work'

  • Adding a task is easier than ever

  • New Daily sorting (Today, Tomorrow, Upcoming & Someday)

  • Email your to-do's to do@any.do and see them in your Any.DO app

  • Performance upgrade

Awesome Note HD (+To-do/Calendar) [iPad, Category: Lifestyle, Free] Integrated notes organizer with support for Google Docs, Evernote, Passcode protection and alarms. Changes in version 3.2.6 include:

  • Fixed bugs

Day One Journal [iOS Universal, Category: Lifestyle, $4.99] : Day One lets you enter your memories, ideas, events and photos, and sync them to your iPhone and iPad using iCloud or Dropbox. Changes in version 1.9.2 include:

  • Stability improvements.

Withings Health Companion [iPhone, Category: Health & Fitness, Free] The Withings app stores your fitness data, helps you understand it and helps you improve it over time. You can enter your data manually or use one of Withings compatible tracking devices. Changes in version 1.7 include:

  • Enhanced iOS 6 support

  • Measures received by bluetooth from the wireless scale are directly visible without the need to synchronize first by wifi

Local Uncle [iPhone, Category: Social Networking, Free] LocalUncle makes life in the city easier. Ask questions about places and neighborhoods and get answers from people on the ground.
