No matter what the universe throws at us, no matter what problem roars in our face, no matter how desperate the situation appears, all can be conquered with a bit of derring-do. And a big, honking, lava-infused, laser-focused, mega-powered battle sword with +3 to every stat and a proc ability that will end the world on a d20 roll.

Frank has such a sword. Frank is set for life. "Here's a shot from the ongoing Relics of the Gree event in Star Wars: The Old Republic," he sent in. I think Frank has it covered.

Maybe you don't have such a sword on you. It's OK; we've got plenty of awesome screenshots after the jump that you can take and use their sharp corners to slice through the opposition. Rock it!

Sometimes getting ahead in an MMO means suffering through a little pain. Reader Derrick knows this all too well, as he shortened his characters' life considerably to bring you the following picture from Mabinogi.

"Sulfer ore is hard to come by in game," Derrick writes, "and the only place it can be mined causes poisoning when you get near. Plus, the rocks you mine could turn out to be Sulfer Golems."

That's a win-win situation there! Where do I sign up?

Jaxom's been having a blast in Guild Wars 2 as of late. Maybe... too much fun. We might have to call the fun police to arrest him and send him to a rehabilitation center to make him into a cynical grump that only complains about such games.

"Since the last game update or so, the game's added rewards for achievement points," Jaxom says. "Lots of those rewards included a Box of Fun, so there are a ton of them being using around Lion's Arch. One of the effects from these boxes is that it will freeze your character in stone. So, this is my character Mevlevi Jaxom, frozen in the midst of activating a skill. I also have one of the new back pieces, a Wind Catcher, which is why I have the large sweeping white rectangles all around me."

From one Star Wars title to another, here's reader Jon relaxing alien-style in Star Wars Galaxies. I didn't even know there was another Star Wars MMO! How cool is that? Did this one just fly under the radar or something? Man, they should've promoted it more.

"Here's a cool Ithorian relaxing in his camp on Tatooine," Jon says.

I guess he's on his way to SOE Live, but I have bad news for that Ithorian: The convention is over. And only three Wookiees showed up this year.

Having a hard time coming up with good screenshots to send us? Here's a few pointers. First, I'm always looking for screenies from games that don't often get a lot of coverage. Second, I love pictures from older or canceled games. Third, screenshots that have a story behind them are always the best because readers love hearing about them. Fourth, there is no fourth. Fifth, show off something: your character, your favorite spot, your most memorable event. Good luck and I can't wait to see them!

Want to be featured in a future edition of One Shots? Send your favorite MMO screenshots to, and don't forget to include your name, the name of the game, and a description of the scene. Large, colorful, UI-free shots that tell a story and really show off the game make for the best images. Look ma, we brought back One Shots!
