Refresh Roundup: week of June 3rd, 2013

Your smartphone and / or tablet is just begging for an update. From time to time, these mobile devices are blessed with maintenance refreshes, bug fixes, custom ROMs and anything in between, and so many of them are floating around that it's easy for a sizable chunk to get lost in the mix. To make sure they don't escape without notice, we've gathered every possible update, hack, and other miscellaneous tomfoolery we could find during the last week and crammed them into one convenient roundup. Official Android updates

  • HTC One: T-Mobile began rolling out a maintenance update that's said to improve Visual Voicemail performance. The carrier estimates that all One users will have the update by June 16th. Likewise, HTC has released an updated recovery RUU for the Developer Edition, which is based on firmware version 1.29.1540.16. [Droid Life, Android Central]

  • ASUS PadFone 2: A comprehensive update is now available for the PadFone 2 that's said to bring improved camera performance (including better focus sensitivity, noise reduction and video quality), refinements to WiFi operation and improved performance. The update files are based on region, and commonly weigh in between 700MB and 850MB in size. [Android Police]

Unofficial Android updates, custom ROMs and misc. hackery

  • CyanogenMod: Release Candidate 5 of CyanogenMod 10.1 is now available for a large number of supported devices, including the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and several variants of the Galaxy S III. [Android Police]

Other platforms

  • BlackBerry Z10: AT&T has released BlackBerry OS 10.1.0.273 as an OTA update that weighs in at approximately 343MB. Likewise, EE has released OS 10.1.0.2312 as an OTA update. [NerdBerry 1, 2]

  • Nokia Asha 308 and Asha 309: An update is available for these two Series 40 handsets from Nokia that are said to bring improved performance and stability, updated apps and new features. [My Nokia Blog]
