The Queue: Censored

The Queue Censored

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.

Spoiler Alert: In today's Queue, we talk spoilers. No, we're not spoiling anything, we're just talking about spoilers.

Dobablo asked:

I have recently noticed a lot screenshots from 5.4 featuring above the cut in articles resulting in them being visible to everyone that views the WoW Insider main page. Some of them I'd consider to be very spoilery, such as a corrupted Garrosh and a destroyed Vale/Twin Mogu Statues. What is the WoW Insider spoiler policy?

We try to be courteous about spoilers and keep huge plot points out of header images and such, but really, we're a WoW blog that covers a lot of news. People should expect to see spoilers here. It's almost impossible to avoiding spoiling things after a certain point. Example: We just learned Wrathion is Dick Van Dyke in disguise. We post that information, but keep it vague in the headline, header image, and first paragraph. Some people appreciate we didn't spoil it. Some people get irritated that we're forcing them to click through to find out what the post is about at all. A few of that second group gets really mad and assumes we're intentionally "clickwhoring" and swear to never come back to the site again.

Then, a few days later, someone on staff wants to write an editorial about the news, discussing its ramifications in lore and things like that. Well, then we need to be ridiculously vague in the header, headline, and opening paragraphs again. At this point, many people who might have read that editorial skip over it because we've given absolutely no indication about what the heck we're talking about. That's the point where we have to go ahead and stop worrying about spoilers. If people don't want spoilers, they shouldn't be looking at sites like this.

connelallison asked:

Can you transmogrify the new legendary cloaks to look like something else? I have a set I'm quite happy with and I don't really want the cloak to clash.

As reader elrabidopanda said yesterday: "You can transmog out of legendaries, just not to them. You should be fine."

Suntiger746 asked:

Considering what warrior shouts do, are all warriors in WoW Dragonborn and use Thu'um?

Yes.

In the same vein, are rogues actually using shadow magic to vanish into thin air and shadowstep?

Sure, why not.

Should the repaired Exodar be accessed from the ground via a teleporter like Dalaran or a flightmaster like Acherus?

Teleporter.

How many brothels do Silvermoon have?

Depends on your server.

I couldn't help but notice that we didn't destroy Darkmaster Gandling's phylactery when we did away with him in the revamped Scholomance. Which means he'll be back. What are the odds he will be supported by a Dreadlord or two next time? Even, or better than even?

I think the Burning Legion learned its lesson about working with the Scourge.

Was the Scarlet Onslaught wiped out in Northrend or is it likely that we'll see stragglers coming back to Lordaeron to make a mess of things again?

We love beating the crap out of the Scarlet Crusade too much for them to be gone forever.

Who named Warthion in the Lore? If he picked his own name... I know he's just a kid in some ways but... Wrathion? Really?

Wrathion's father is Deathwing. Come on, man. We're lucky he didn't name himself something ridiculous like Deadpool or Deathstroke or Bloodstrike or Killraven.

That's a comic books joke, folks!

Chrth asked:

Why aren't there more dog pictures as header pics?

Because none of the authors of The Queue own dogs. Cats, though? We have those.

Whiteout asked:

Do you give your pets names such as "Smokey, Muffin, or Prof. Bubbles von Dinichthys terrelli" or names that could be given to people?

Considering the previous question, I'm not sure if you mean in-game or IRL, so I'll answer IRL. I like giving my pets either real names or names of characters from fantasy novels. Cutesy names seem to absurd and disrespectful to me. Like, I have this gorgeous, noble animal that is a part of my life and is willing to co-exist with me for however long it may live. I'm not going to call it Bubbles or Cupcake or Fluffybutt. That said, names are always subjective. My significant other and I named our cat Varin after the protagonist in the fantasy series I'm working on. It seemed to fit his personality and can be passed off as something more real than Dippydoodle.

I would have included a picture of Varin here, but I don't have time at this very moment to go chasing him around with a camera.
