The Queue: Fandral Ewing

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) is answering all kinds of questions today.

After reading all the comments on yesterday's Queue, only a scant few of you guys seemed to recognize the Dallas reference. So I figured Bobby Ewing would make yet another return from the dead in today's Queue. You're welcome.

As an aside, I vaguely, vaguely recall when this episode of Dallas aired, mostly because my mother was so incredibly ticked off that she almost chucked the remote control across the room. It was also the last episode of Dallas she ever watched.

lib.feathers asked:

And just where would Fandral Staghelm be taking said shower? You can't leave out important details like that!

The bathroom. ... where else?

lumacman asked:

Technical question here. Has blizzard addressed the issues the new target outline system is causing? Every system I play on takes a massive FPS hit (I'm talking 30 FPS or more) when something is in visual range. I know you can turn it off for targets but quest items Still use it even when you turn it off. This makes the game almost unplayable.

While I've seen a few different people report this on the beta forums, I haven't seen any replies from anyone indicating that it's a widespread issue or something that Blizzard is actively looking at now. Are your video drivers up to date? How old is your system? It might be time to look at a different video card, or just a system upgrade -- the game has gotten quite the graphics overhaul, so it might be worth it to look around. I realize this might not be the most helpful answer, but I'm not experiencing these kinds of frame rate drops on my system, and there doesn't seem to be a giant number of people reporting this particular issue, so I don't think it's a problem with the game itself.

Rollo asked:

So, i finally got a random pvp game set up on the PTR lvl 20-29, and won and got our strongboxes. Except they all had level 100 pvp gear in them. I assume since blizzard hasn't gotten around to it by now that they're just going to scrap leveling pvp rewards. What do you guys think?

I think assuming anything you see on early stages of a test realm is proof-positive of what you're going to see once testing is done and the patch is released is a little silly. Just because the rewards haven't been implemented yet, doesn't mean they aren't going to be there at all. Give them time.

cgilm2526 asked:

Has blizzard made any indication if we will be able to retrieve or re-do quests for missing or deleted toy box items? As a OCD Achievement person, I want to fill up my toy box with every item. But over the years, I have had to delete toys due to bag space. I would be unfair to have achievements that are unobtainable on characters that are level 90 unless I want to reroll another character just to get certain toys.

Unfortunately, there's been no indication about this one way or another at all. However, Toy Box items are account-wide. Once you've got the item, you can use it on every character on your account. This doesn't really help with collection achievements, I know. I don't know if the Toy Box achievements are going to be account-wide and cumulative between all of your characters, or just count on a single character, either -- I think they still have some things to implement on the beta in that regard.

RyanWilliamVoll asked:

What's the highest latency you've had while doing a raid/dungeon/bg?

I peaked out at about 16k once while raiding. Nothing was moving, and suddenly everything snapped into fast forward to catch up, and then I was staring at the login screen in vaguely amused bewilderment. Generally speaking, if latency hops over 5k on my computer, that's when I begin giving my friends a heads up that I might just be headed for a disconnect shortly.

Elprede asked:

Q4tQ: what is something you would like to see in the game, regardless if it cost a "raid tier". Could be anything from a mechanic to a piece of lore

There's a couple of things, and maybe I'm the wrong person to ask because both of them are targeted towards a pretty narrow audience. First, I'd like to see some kind of in-game lore journal similar to what Diablo III is kicking around with, that saves lore books and other cool in-game text stuff as you discover it. Second, I honestly want to see some sort of UI element for roleplayers added, like what we've already got with MyRoleplay, FlagRSP, or TotalRP. They'd have to tweak the heck out of it to make sure people couldn't write anything objectionable/offensive in there, but it'd be kind of cool if they had that UI option for people that have rolled on roleplaying servers.

perbrethil asked:

Q4TQ: Has there been any word at all about archeology in WOD? I just realized that without flying it's gonna be an even bigger hell (mind that, a fun, lorewise very fullfilling hell) to do casually if you have to take a flightpath every digsite you do.

There has not been a ton of Archaeology stuff implemented yet -- I believe the latest build just added a lot more, and I haven't gotten a lot of time to take a look at it. However, one interesting thing that I've seen so far is that in the Spires of Arak at least, you can find boxes hidden around the map in a series of jumping puzzles. The boxes have arakkoa archaeology fragments in them. I thought it was a pretty interesting way to mix up the usual plunk down your survey tool, move, plunk down your survey tool grind.
