The Queue: Garrisons, garrisons, some other stuff, and garrisons

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.

Garrisons continue to be the hot topic around these parts. With Warlords of Draenor leaving so much unexplained, confusion is rampant.

dshiryu asked:

How do one trigger garrison invasions? We already kill dozens of mobs from an opposing faction daily to get apexis, how many more must suffer to cause retaliation? THOUSANDS?

My understanding is you need only kill a sufficient number of mobs from an enemy group. If you kill enough of them, and they come to dislike you enough, they'll attack. I have no idea what that number is, but it must be ludicrously high. I slaughtered my way across Draenor last week to try triggering one and it didn't happen. Between the daily quests and the murdering I did outside of them ... if it takes more than that, they hardly seem worthwhile, because we're talking hours upon hours of grinding mobs every single week for a single invasion event.

I'm almost hoping invasions are bugged, because if it really takes that much mob grinding to get one, I probably never will. And I like grinding mobs.

sylvonna asked:

I can't believe you haven't done an article on Pilgrim's Bounty yet. I just happened to be checking the mail on an alt in Dalaran yesterday, saw the blood elf commoner by the bank and realzied it was already going on. I rely on WOW Insider to keep me up on these things

Yeah, we were a little slow on the uptake on that one. What with Warlords of Draenor still being fresh, Pilgrim's Bounty (which is a pretty dull holiday event beyond the new pet) totally slipped past us for the first day. Go forth and level cooking!

Armenius asked:

So I queue up with three other guildies for a random heroic. I'm wondering who our pug member will be... and it's another guildie. What are the odds of that?

This happened to me the other night. I queued alone and a married couple in my guild queued as a duo. I ended up in their group and didn't even realize it until we were a few pulls in. I've heard it happening to friends of mine, too. I'm wondering if the dungeon finder has started trying to place guildmates together, even when they haven't queued up together.

ArthurN asked:

Is there an old female draenei model in the game? I found Old Loola in Shadowmoon Valley while questing and it looks like Blizzard just took the standard young female model and put a hood on her. I know draenei live a long time, but if her name is Old Loola shouldn't she be look closer to Velen's age than to the playable draenei models?

There's no old female draenei model. Velen has the only old male draenei model. There isn't one for general-use, really.

Armenius asked:

So does anyone else use their Garrisonstone (What are we calling it?) to get out of their mine?

I totally do.

cgilm2526 asked:

Does anyone know if there is a level 100 Arena of Annihilation type quests that we have had since the BC? I really have enjoyed these quests over the years and hoped Blizzard continued with WoD.

There's a quest chain in Nagrand related to the Ring of Blood, but it's all solo content and does not give you a bangin' weapon at the end. Kind of disappointing!

EWOKinLA asked:

I have a couple of Followers that I can tell to "Go on Patrol" with me. They follow for a bit, but then stop. What is this for?

Mostly, it's just for fun. They'll "patrol" your garrison with you as in they'll tag along as you do your rounds: mining, picking herbs, setting work orders, and so forth. However, they'll help out in any combat that happens within your garrison. So they'll fight the goren that may spawn in your mine, podlings from picking herbs, or any garrison invasion if you start one up while they're with you.

AmyPerry asked:

Do followers assigned to buildings count toward your 20 (25 with barracks)?

Yes, but I really wish they didn't. I often pull those guys off of their buildings so I can use them in a mission I want completed. Which is probably their intent -- forcing you to choose -- but considering professions are moving at a crawl? It'd be nice if I simply had a full stable of followers to use in addition to those toiling away in the mines.
