Engadget Review

Apple's new iPad offers neither a massive improvement in performance nor functionality, but the new display alone makes it a great update.

From the moment I turned the device on, a lot like the iPhone 4, the difference in display quality was apparent from the get go. A stunning piece of tech both inside an out. Upgrading from the first gen iPad this is a welcome change, now boasting a quad core processor, I dont have to wait any time at all to do anything. Perfect.

There's not much to say that hasn't already been said about either the iPad in general or the amazing screen on this new iteration. Suffice it to say that on a device which is 'all screen', the extra pixels can be transformative for the experience: reading, viewing photos, websites, videos, games are all enhanced by the sharpness and definition of the retina display. The rest of the device is nearly identical to the iPad2. If you have the original iPad or haven't bought one yet, run don't walk to get the new iPad. If you have an iPad2, the decision's a bit harder - do you need LTE? Do you use the camera? Does the display blow you away? If the answer is no to any of those feel confident that the iPad2 remains atop the rest of the tablet heap.

The new iPad is pretty much the perfect gadget. I don't really know what else to say about it. The screen is breathtakingly good. The camera is, well, it's actually usable, which isn't something that could be said about the iPad 2's camera. Performance is fantastic. Battery life is amazing. I'd love to be able to complain about something here, but I really can't think of anything. The new iPad is just incredible in every way. That's all I can say. It takes a product that was already amazing (the iPad 2) and improves on the few areas where that product was slightly lacking. I really don't know what Apple can do to improve the iPad next year. As far as I'm concerned, they've made a perfect product.

I have iPad2,but the new iPad's resolution makes me buy it. The resolution is extraordinary and game play becomes smoother. This iPad is 0.6mm thicker than iPad 2, but it is not so obvious when you hold it. The camera improves dramatically(5MP and auto focus). Voice diction works well, not only for typing mail but also for typing search in netflix and etc.). That's the best tablet in the world.
