Engadget Review

The 2013 MacBook Air offers amazing battery life and disk I/O performance for an even more accessible price, but it sure could use a few more pixels in that display.

This is the best business laptop I've ever had, and I've had quite a few dating back to the IBM 5150 Portable, which was a suitcase with a keyboard.

I am recent convert from the Windows world, at least for my personal devices. And I couldn't be happier with my new MBA. There may technically be some laptops out there that are a teeny bit thinner or lighter, but they all strive towards the standard that Apple introduced with the MBA. The only improvement that I would hope to see in a future release, is a higher resolution display or maybe a IPS panel for improved viewing angles. But in real world use, those fancy specs aren't the end-all-be-all. The 1400x900 is perfectly usable on this device. A very nice laptop for the average user. And by that I mean most everyone who isn't a developer needing to run multiple VMs. For that, stick to the MBP or the Mac.

The absence of a 'retina' display is really the only downfall of what is otherwise a perfect daily laptop. While the display is colorful, offers deep blacks, plenty of contrast and goes very bright, the resolution is too low at this price point. While a retina display would fix this, the battery life would be too far compromised, so a 1080p display would be ideal. Regarding battery life, this thing is a joke... In a good way! I've managed 15 hours on one charge, and I wasn't even being stingy with brightness (set at 70%) albeit I was only doing word processing. General browsing will get you around 13 hours (still more than an iPad or any other tablet) and videos even more. Simply blown away by the battery life, and not once have I had to take my charger in my bag anywhere apart from on a long holiday.
