In a world filled with painful delays, seeing ASUS' 10-inch Eee PC 1000H on sale this soon after being introduced at Computex is like a breath of fresh air. Or mildly stagnant air, considering we're not anywhere close to Taiwan. Nevertheless, said machine is indeed up for grabs for those on that side of the planet, and just as we expected, it's demanding NT$18,988 (or around $625). C'mon ASUS, you've got swarms of North Americans (and Europeans, etc.) just champing at the bit here.[Via Fudzilla]

We were expecting to see ASUS's 10-inch Eee PC 1000 make the scene tomorrow at Computex, but it looks like French site Blogeee.net scored some early pictures of the long-rumored Atom-based machine. No detailed specs yet, but hit up the read link for the rest of the glamour shots.

Oh, snap. As if it weren't official enough already, the subnote war is on. According to a Computex invitation from ASUS, the outfit is planning to not only showcase the Eee PC 901, but also a brand new variant that will likely go mano a mano with the 10-inch MSI Wind. We quote: "[ASUS] would also like to specially extend an invitation to you to attend the official global launch of the new Eee PC 901 and 1000 series." There's no details beyond that right there, but it's plenty to whet our appetites on the heels of the 10.6-inch Eee PC 1001 evidence we've already collected. Oh Tuesday, you seem so far away. • Xbox 360 to have over 1,000 titles by Summer 2008, says MS rep

If there's one thing we appreciate about a home console, it's prolificacy -- and for quite some time now, the PS2 has claimed top honors in that respect. Sony's last-gen system currently holds the console record for having the most games (with more than 1600 titles), which we never expected to be toppled in this day and age, where console generations seem to pass more and more like smoke through a keyhole as technology continues to advance. However, according to Chris Lewis, the Xbox Vice Prez for Microsoft Interactive Entertainment Europe, the 360 might yet pass the PS2 in its lifetime, as the system, he claims, will play host to over 1,000 games by this summer. While this news may come as a boon to MSoft fanboys, keep in mind that this doesn't mean there will be 1,000 good games for the system -- lest we forget, for every Bioshock that makes its way to store shelves, there will be an unavoidable handful of Bomberman: Act Zeroes.

  • GameStop reaches 1000 stores outside US

Although we may not agree with GameStop's tactics, it's made them a lot of money and now they've opened up their 1000th store outside the US. Through old school incentives the company has motivated their employees to "always be closing" and that's how you get to have 4816 stores globally. Most recently GameStop opened up branches in Canada, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden. Wonder if we can get a list of "Would you like to reserve X game" in every language GameStop now does business in? There's a fine line between honest business and being a pre-order pusher.

  • Logitech @ CEDIA - Hands-on with the Harmony 1000

Who would have thought that a little remote would cause so much media attention but we can tell you that once you play with the Logitech 1000, it is easy to understand why. It looks and feels so much like those custom install remotes by Creston but is so much more affordable at the $499 price. We got the chance to play with a pre-production model and it's nice. Smooth, slick but at the same time seems to be rather functional. The remote doesn't come in the conventional candy-bar style and it is somewhat difficult to hold with one hand but the help of a leg or armrest when sitting helps a lot. The screens provide just enough info without filling the display with to much data. Response is just like other Harmony remotes which is just fine with us as those products simply work. The only thing we would change is the hard buttons on the right-hand side should be a tad bigger. They are kind of small and bigger buttons seems like it would be easier to use along with taking up more of all that empty landscape. We don't think Logitech is going to push back its October launch just because of our complaint, but other then that, this is one nice remote. More action shots after the jump.

  • Logitech's Harmony 1000 Advanced Universal touchscreen remote

If you felt Logitech's Xbox 360 remote was just too focused for your tastes, the Harmony 1000 should provide the depth and breadth you're craving in a universal remote. Upping the ante on its long-standing lineup of home entertainment controllers, its new flagship unit sports a sleek silver and black finish, a 3.5-inch color touchscreen, internet programmability, rechargeable batteries, and a slew of one-touch activity options. Aside from completely pimping out any living room table, you can control nearly every electronic facet of your home via the IR emitter, and if you toss in the RF-enabling Harmony Wireless Extender ($149.99), you can dictate the gadgetry in any room of your crib. Sporting the Smart State Technology also found in the Harmony 890, the 1000 allows for automated control of various systems / activities with a single button press, and with an online stockpile of 175,000 devices at your disposal, setup shouldn't cause too many headaches. If you have enough remotes to supply a small Radio Shack, and you're looking for one ring remote to rule them all, the Harmony 1000 can get your setup(s) under control for $499.99 later this fall.[Thanks, Gristle]

It's been a long time since PSP Fanboy opened its doors and said "Hello World!" In fact, it's been one thousand posts since that time. Here are some of the more memorable moments in the past one thousand posts: Our first-ever user comment! Our first-ever Japanese sales report! (PSP's best-selling game was Brain Trainer Portable... original) The first time Samuel L. Jackson was pictured on the site The first time we used "WTF" in a title The first time we showed you people breaking their PSPs for fun The first time we had more than 30 comments (also: The first time we pitted the DS against the PSP, proving that flame bait = the mad traffic increase) The second time we announced the site going live (strange...) The first time prolific comment poster pixelator made a comment The first time new blogger Andrew Yoon wrote a story The first time new blogger Chris Powell wrote a story Hope you enjoyed our little retrospective look at the site. To bribe you to keep on coming back thank you for being such a loyal reader, we're giving away a free copy of the upcoming PSP game WTF. The game features tons of zany mini-games, and includes Game Sharing so you can play with your friends. To win your copy of WTF, think of a new meaning for the acronym. The PSP game stands for Work Time Fun. Try to think of a new, funny meaning for it (besides the obvious one). For example: Wax That Fanny, Women Touching Franks, Wank The Ferret, etc.Post a comment with your idea, and we'll choose one random person to get the game. The winner will receive their prize after 9/26/06. Contest ends on 9/12/06. Thanks, D3 Publisher!

  • Ultraportable Acer Ferrari 1000 reviewed

Acer's Ferrari 1000 is likely to be nominated for sexiest ultraportable, but even if not, this 12.1-inch widescreen machine looks pretty impressive; not too far back we announced that this thing was hitting the street, and now it's been properly test-driven. As expected, the Ferrari 1000 utilizes the AMD Turion 64 X2 and comes stuffed with 1GB of RAM, 120GB SATA hard drive, 1.3 megapixel webcam, external DVD+/-RW optical drive (where are the HD-DVD and Blu-Ray drives?), ATI Radeon Xpress 200M graphics chipset, 1,280 x 800 WXGA screen, Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi, and reads practically every flash card we've ever heard of. cNews in Russia found very little to grumble about: the 3.7-pound machine wheeled through benchmarks, but apparently left reviewers disappointed by fingerprints showing on the carbon fiber. Going for about $4,000, this notebook ain't cheap, but if you want an ultraportable to match your Enzo, you can take delivery later this month.

It hasn't been long since we saw AMD pop up with their own dual core mobile processor, the AMD Turion 64 X2, and the first round of products are already beginning to appear. Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to Acer's Ferrari 5000 and 1000, the former a 15.4-inch carbon fiber desktop replacement, outfitted with a 1.3 megapixel camera, 802.11a/b/g, Bluetooth 2.0, gigabit Ethernet, and a dual-layer slot loading DVD±RW drive -- or, eventually an HD DVD drive (what, no Blu-ray?); the latter is a 12.1-inch widescreen machine that weighs in at 3.7 pounds. We're not clear yet on price, availability, or what it'll look like up in the face, but we are definitely interested to see how this machine will stack up against the slew of Core Duos already on the market.

  • 1000 song hack for iTunes phones?

For those out there who find the 100 song cap (amongst other things) on iTunes phone a deal breaker, Engadget Mobile might have found your saving grace. A forum at MotoModders has the details and simple steps you can take to run a simple hack on any iTunes phone (except the v3i) to raise the song cap to 1000. Unfortunately, there's one catch: the little app you have to run is Windows-based, so you'll need a PC or Boot Camp to actually do this (sorry, Parallels doesn't support USB devices - yet).Obviously this is a hack, so don't blame us or MotoModders if something goes wrong. However, if you do try this, please post your thoughts and let us know if it really works.
