The concept of entry-level 3G is starting to pick up a good head of steam in some parts of the world, and manufacturers are standing at the ready. LG is next to the party, dropping its stylish U300 clamshell exclusively on Hutchison's 3 network this month. Phones like the U300 aren't likely to cause a commotion in Europe where UMTS and UMTS-capable handsets are seemingly omnipresent, but golly, what we'd do to get our American paws on this: dual color displays, 1.3 megapixel camera, MicroSD slot, and A2DP support are all included in the phone's very attractive packaging. And when you consider that the U300 will likely go for a song on contract -- well, it's all we can do to contain our jealous rage.[Via T3]

You know, we admit we're just dying to get our hands on the Wii and some of its killer games, but Nintendo Nsider Forum poster GANONDESTROYER has us licked. His desperation to get his hands on the Wii and its games goes beyond infatuation. His photoshopped mockups of Wii box art show hours of detailed attention and quite possibly a small touch of dementia. Not to be without a sense of humor, his mockup of a box design for Animal Crossing and Tingle's Adventure elicit some chuckles. Also, his Nintendogs mock up is just about the cutest thing I've ever seen.[Note: 56K users beware as the forum post has enough images to destroy your modem.]

  • Mario Hoops 3 on 3: The Controls

Siliconera has a nice breakdown on how the touchscreen-exclusive controls will work on the DS. By tapping on the screen, you'll be able to make Mario dribble, with the faster you tap naturally causing him to up the speed of his dribble. While in possession of the ball, swiping the stylus across the touchscreen in the direction of  the basket will cause Mario (or whichever subsequent character is holding the ball) to shoot the ball. On the opposite side of the ball, swiping the stylus across the touchscreen in the direction of your opponent will cause your character to attempt a steal on the ball. Of course, it wouldn't be a Nintendo sports title without crazy power shots and this game does not disappoint. As Mario, in activating your special shot, the game asks you to trace out the letter M on the bottom screen, which will cause Mario to turn up the heat with a flaming basketball. Other characters will have their own unique special shots as well. While I failed to get my hands on it during E3, I'm very excited for this game's release.

  • LG U900 announced for Hutchison in Italy

Yeah, we know, we're getting a little granular on this one, but remember LG's then-unnamed swiveling DVB-H handset? The one with the weird vaguely W300i-like buttons? Well, it was officially announced in Italy as the U900, and will see service through Hutchison's 3 network with UMTS service and, of course, their exclusive Italian DVB-H broadcast rights to the World Cup. The 1.3 megapixel and VGA cameras won't hurt, nor the 58MB internal flash, but what will, however, is a 3 hour battery lifespan watching video. That's still more than enough for a match, though, which is all it really needs to be, we suppose.

  • Spidey 3 on rails?

Supposedly, a blog over at IGN states that Spider-Man 3 on the Revolution will be "on rails" and the game will be entirely focused around the player utilizing Spidey's web with the remote. This blog cites a source over at AMN that was charged with interviewing Activision about said game, having sent an email to the blogger to spill the beans. While scrolling down to the comments below you'll see someone from AMN discreditting the information, the proposed concept is a very interesting one. This is more than likely not true, but in thinking about it, I'm not sure if this would be such a bad thing. Given that the game would need multiple pathways available to the player to get from point A to point B in order for the title to retain some replay value, the focus on Spidey's web-slinging and placing him on rails could actually work for the title. If the game managed to include the free-roaming feel of Spider-Man 2 between missions, objectives, etc., to allow for those of us who love to go swinging around the city to get some type of fix, this idea wouldn't be so bad.[Via Go Nintendo]

  • U.K.'s 3 helped Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" top the charts

In a completely shocking and unprecedented move, a corporate entity is trying to latch on to the latest "big thing" by taking partial credit for the phenomenon's success, which in this case is the first song to top the U.K. singles charts without ever having been sold in stores. Wireless carrier 3 is claiming that its network was responsible for up to 20% of the total downloads of  "Crazy," the first single by Danger Mouse and Cee-Lo collaborative Gnarls Barkley (no relation to the Round Mound of Rebound), which sold 31,000 digital copies and 0 CDs in the week ending April 2nd. 3 offers songs for 99 pence apiece and also allows a copy of the track to be downloaded to a user's PC, which would seem to make it a strong competitor in not only the mobile arena but the traditional online music market as well.

  • Metroid Prime 3 video surfaces

The Revolution Lifestyle has posted a link to a video of some Metroid Prime 3 footage. This footage is the same that was shown last year at E3, yet instead of seeing Mr. Iwata narrate, we get The Regginator. So while the clip is indeed the footage that was shown at E3, this is clearly a different venue. Instead of showcasing any new footage, we're left to speculate as to reasons why this new video would surface with footage from last year. We envision a man, malnourished and shackled at the ankles, emerging from the depths of a dark dungeon, his eyes watering as he gazes to the sun for the first time in a year, finally managing to escape his captors and release the knowledge he had suffered for so long with to the public. Too bad pal, Nintendo showed us last year, looks like you suffered in vain. Clearly Nintendo is waiting for E3 to drown us in a tsunami of Revolution-related media and news, one that while it may very much exterminate our lives, we'd at least go down with a smile on our face.
