Netflix dominates Golden Globes nominations while Apple lands its first
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has announced the nominees for the 2020 Golden Globes, and this could be a milestone year for streaming. Netflix is even more of a frontrunner among streaming services than it was last year, with 17 TV network nominations and a flood of nods for movies like Marriage Story (six), The Irishman (five) and The Two Popes (four). In some cases, it's even the dominant force -- in both the best picture and best supporting actor categories, three out of five nominees are Netflix projects.

The 2019 Emmy awards were a highlight run of "TV" shows that you can watch delivered over the internet, with streaming favorites like Amazon Prime's Fleabag and Netflix's Ozark bringing home multiple awards during the broadcast. Netflix's interactive Black Mirror episode Bandersnatch only won one trophy tonight, but it marked the format's arrival when it was awarded Outstanding Television Movie over challengers like Deadwood and King Lear.
'Game of Thrones' and Amazon's 'Mrs. Maisel' lead Emmy nominations
The Television Academy has revealed this year's Emmy nominations and to absolutely no one's surprise, Game of Thrones scooped up the most nods with 32, including Outstanding Drama Series and 10 nominees across various acting categories. The show with the second-highest tally of nominations is Amazon Prime Video's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel with 20. It won several awards last year, including the top Outstanding Comedy Series prize. It's nominated again in that category.
What's on TV: 'Game of Thrones' finale, 'Rage 2' and 'Fleabag'
This weekend, the Game of Thrones series wraps up its run on HBO. Still, there are other TV events occurring this week, including the season finale of Barry that will air directly after Thrones. US audiences can tune into the second season of Phoebe Waller-Bridge's Fleabag as it debuts on Amazon Prime, while Hulu premieres its new show from George Clooney, Catch-22. Netflix is hardly falling behind in the streaming wars, with See You Yesterday, season two of The Rain and 1994 all set to premiere this week. For fans of sports there's NHL and NBA playoffs plus the NBA Zion Williamson lottery on Tuesday night, and ESPN2 will air the Overwatch League's All-Star game on Wednesday. Otherwise, gamers can check out Rage 2 or Castlevania Anniversary Collection.
