Now before you get all upset, relax – the president is a zombie and totally deserves that bullet between the eyes in the above gameplay clip for Resident Evil 6, the first of two videos that highlight the entirety of Leon's portion of the Resident Evil 6 E3 demo.If the idea of posthumous presidential assassination makes you cringe, hop past the break to see Leon shooting less prestigious zombies.

We're used to premium editions costing a bit extra, but Resident Evil 6's bundle for Japan costs a whopping $1,300. This premium edition contains Resident Evil 6, Leon's leather jacket (seriously) and four different phone cases – one designed for Leon, one for Chris, one for newly revealed Luke and another random case.It makes sense the bundle would include four phone cases, as you're going to need at least three friends to help you buy this $1,300 bundle. We guess you could share Leon's leather jacket too, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants style. It comes in sizes S, M, L and XL.Only 5,000 of these premium edition bundles will be made available for ¥100,000 ($1,300) each. Pre-orders are open now, and conclude on June 11.

  • Leon, Mexico to use biometric scanners in 'all aspects of life'

First it was CCTV surveillance, and now a Mexican security firm called Portoss is teaming up with biometrics manufacturer Global Rainmakers, Inc., to make the city of Leon in Guanajuato the most potentially oppressive in the world. The secure city initiative will provide "unparalleled iris identity fusion" by wrapping the city in miles of fiber optic cable, creating a central database that will contain of all convicted criminals (as well as any good citizens who wish to "opt in"), and a network of iris scanners. As you can imagine, the man in charge of selling this stuff -- Global Rainmakers CDO Jeff Carter -- is something of a "true believer." Fast Company attributes the following quote to him: "Every person, place, and thing on this planet will be connected [to the iris system] within the next 10 years." Great! There's also this one: "If you've been convicted of a crime, in essence, this will act as a digital scarlet letter. If you're a known shoplifter, for example, you won't be able to go into a store without being flagged. For others, boarding a plane will be impossible." And how about embittered bloggers? Will we be prevented from accessing the Internet to point out how unbelievably frightening this is? PR after the break.

  • Leon's OS soundbar custom built to fit your 120-inch display, drain your wallet

We didn't think that the soundbar market would one-up B&W's $2,200 Panorama model, but Leon speakers just couldn't leave well enough alone. For all the people who go to the expense of buying a flatscreen more than 100-inches big and yet can't be bothered to pick up some discrete multichannel speakers, Leon has added the OS (over-sized) soundbar to its Horizon lineup. Give Leon 3-5 days and $6,500 and it'll build your OS custom so it fits your display -- up to 120-inches wide -- in an LCR, L/R or center-only configuration. Leon says that the last install required a crane to lift the soundbar through an apartment window. We guess if you've already got a crane to get your display into the abode, you might as well make use of it for the speakers, too; but we'd recommend you skip the crane and put the $6,500 towards a nice set of speakers for real surround sound.

  • Leon introducing new on-wall Profile 404-X-A speakers, A3-SUB subwoofer

Set to show at CEDIA next month are a couple of new models from on-wall specialists Leon. The shallow depth (3.25-inches) of the company's new Profile 404-X-A speakers allow you to set them up on- or against-wall. Either way, the idea is to blend the speakers into the surroundings, so a choice of veneers and finishes (including paints) are available. Leon hasn't skimped on the high-end drivers -- 4-inch Peerless woofers and 1-inch Morel tweeters -- but that cabinet is bass-challenged and can't reach much below 65Hz. And wouldn't you know it, that's where the new A3-SUB, um, subwoofer fits in. The 12- x 14- x 4-inch box houses an 8-inch woofer that plumbs down to 30Hz. This gear is aimed at the fashionista crowd, and priced accordingly: the Profile 404-X-As start at $2495 per pair, the A3-SUB goes for $895, and you can throw in a 1000-Watt Leon sub amplifier for another $995. Full press release and more pics after the break.

If the luxurious Seven Series was a bit too rich for your blood, Leon Speakers is offering up yet another option for tossing tunes up on your wall. The "ultra" high-fidelity Horizon 414-LCR-X-A is designed to fit nicely in "small theater settings where audiophile quality sound is still paramount," and as you can see, the left / center / right channels are combined into one cabinet. Additionally, the whole thing is just 3.25-inches thick, and each channel -- which can handle 225-watts -- is home to twin 4-inch Peerless HDS woofers and a 1-inch Morel MDT29 cloth-dome tweeter. Sadly, this one's still not suited for the bargain hunters, as it'll run customers $2,495 when it debuts at EHX Spring next week.

  • Insecticide made creepier thanks to comparison to The Professional

Crackpot's Larry Ahern appears in this video offering commentary on the latest entry in the "evolved bug detective in a post-apocalyptic insect-run world" adventure game genre (jeez, another one?), Insecticide. He reveals a few influences on the world and storyline of the game. The most notable, in terms of making us look at the game in a new way? Luc Besson's The Professional, which, if you haven't seen it, is about a 12-year-old who forms a close, parental-but-also-inappropriately-romantic attachment with a hitman. And that's the relationship that influenced the dynamic between the game's two main characters, Chrys Liszt and Roachy Caruthers. We don't know what to say now. We're going to watch these two cartoon insects' interactions a lot more closely during the game, at least.

  • Leon Speakers to showcase elite on-wall Seven Series speakers

While not quite as niche as in-shower drivers, Leon Speakers is hoping to redecorate a few living room walls with its on-wall Seven Series. The lineup reportedly relies on two "hand-made German Eton 7-inch patented HEXACONE long throw woofers and a Raven R2 True Ribbon tweeter (all aluminum diaphragm) from Orca." Moreover, they can handle frequencies from 40Hz all the way up to 50kHz and sport a power rating of 250-watts per channel. Measuring in at 11- x 38- x 6-inches, these 75-pound beasts are slated to hit high-end audio shops sometime next month, and while we aren't apt to throw down the $17,000 required to pick up a pair, here's to hoping we get a listen anyway during CEDIA.

  • Metareview: Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition

Shipping to retail shelves in the U.S. today, Resident Evil 4 hasn't had a shortage of coverage here at Wii Fanboy. We love the franchise and were anxious to see how the already amazing game could benefit from the implementation of gesture-based controls. Not only that, but always having a reticle on-screen seemed like such a simple, yet necessary, improvement. We're glad to say that, according to the critics at least, the newest version of the game is quite good. GameSpy (100/100) found themselves a perfect game: "The reason that the Wii version is the best is because the new control system makes the gameplay more enjoyable. Using both the Wii remote and the nunchuck, players will be able to perform all of the regular moves and attacks from before, only now they can do them in a more sensitive, accurate and pleasing fashion." CVG (93/100) thinks the game has been improved: "It has the looks, it has the compelling level design, and it has the scary bits. Check, then: this is Resident Evil 4 all over again, but slightly better." EGM (87/100) finds the new control scheme to be for the better: "Though they suffer a bit when things get hectic, the Wii-mote-enabled controls generally serve RE4 well: Aiming weapons, swiping your knife, and shaking off face-sucking nasties with real-world moves adds urgency to an already incredibly intense experience." [July 2007, p.82] EuroGamer (70/100) says the Wiimote controls hurt the game: "It's just a shame that one of the best ever action games has become another casualty of the Wii controller. Indeed, for a controller that was supposed to herald a new dawn of inclusive gaming there are a lot of third-party publishers who have yet to get their heads round it."

Capcom is offering up the chance at winning some goodies for its Japanese fans, namely a lucky 25 of those fans, themed after Biohazard 4. These items are some sweet pieces of gear, if we might say so, including a jacket modeled after Leon's and a pair of "Engineer Boots." Getting to this super-secret section of the website requires clicking on those little red blood cells floating around, but in the interest of saving you time, we'll just offer up a direct link to the page.[Via Famitsu]

Ever wondered exactly how you're going to make those Plagas stop biting into your skull in the new Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition? Wonder no more, dear friends, as a rather buried link in the official Japanese website reveals a lovely trailer just rife with waggle. Looks like pretty standard stuff: shake remote, move remote in circle, stab parasitic zombie villager in the kidney with remote, you know.If nothing else, this trailer just kind of rekindled our fiery lust for Resident Evil 4 ... damn was that game good. You remember that time when you took on two Gigantes and dropped one into a giant pit of lava by ziplining across the room like a badass? Yeah. We do too.[via GoNintendo]

  • More RE4 scans induce drool

Forget those blurry, half-folded over scans -- we've got crisp, clear scans filled with heart-pounding Resident Evil 4 shots ... and lots of Japanese text. But an inability to read the text never deters us from bouncing around excitedly. After all, we don't have to be able to read to see that there's waggle in them there scans, and the idea of an all-new RE4 experience is nothing but awesome.

  • Umbrella Chronicles aptly named [update 1]

See, when the Resident Evil for the Wii was announced as the Umbrella Chronicles, we thought, great! An overarching story about everyone's favorite zombie-producing conglomerate. And we're getting that (in a sense), but it turns out that we've been fooled ... here, "umbrella" means "that which covers all" and chronicles seems to stand for "a little rehash of a lot of story."That's right, folks -- the so-exciting ReWii may not be that exciting after all. Instead of an all new game or a straight up remake, Umbrella Chronicles will feature four chapters that recover old ground from games 1-4, and some Wiimote functionality has been tossed in like a drizzle of chocolate atop a subpar sundae. While it will no doubt be interesting to see the long and winding story of Umbrella told in this fashion, it still feels like a copout. Capcom is throwing us a bone so that we remain dedicated to their series. Where's our game? Where's our chance to blast all new zombie heads? If we get it, it won't be soon. For now, we'll cling to the old idea that good things come to those who wait. But if they make us wait too long, we may be storming Capcom ala the torchbearing villagers in RE4. [Via Joystiq][Update: The teaser trailer has hit the net and is after the break.]

Capcom's added profits are in no doubt mainly due to the incredibly satisfying game that is Resident Evil 4. In announcing the figures Capcom has planned for shipping new titles, the company has announced a whopping 21 titles will hit the PSP in the next year. So how about a port of Resident Evil 4? The new over-the-shoulder camera style would be perfect for the handheld!
