Home gets its first real piece of content today as the Red Bull Air Race space is now open to all Home users. You can access the area from your world map within your menu pad. Once there you'll see lots of other people standing around a fence, which is where you can begin playing the plane-flying mini-game. There's no leaderboard support yet, but that doesn't stop you shouting about your best time to everyone in the area. Americans also get their hands on Diesel clothing and Ligne Roset furniture in the Mall from today. Still no sign of any game spaces being released in Europe, but the Red Bull Air Race should give you something to do once you get bored of wandering round the Home Square for the billionth time.[Thanks heavenssniper]

The PlayStation Blog has updated with word that the previously uncovered Red Bull space will be debuting in Home this week. Home-bodies will be able to take part in competitive, checkpoint-based air races within the space, and Sony has alluded to there being more Red Bull themed "events" forthcoming.Clothing brands Diesel and Linge Roset will also be getting their own dedicated storefronts in Home's Mall, something that has already taken place in Europe. If spending $.49 on designer duds isn't your thing, two Resident Evil: Degeneration T-Shirts will be added to the regular ol' clothing shop, so you can become a walking advertisement instead (and for free).%Gallery-40893%

More content will be added to the Red Bull space over the coming months. The US version of Home will also get its first access to the Diesel and Ligne Roset storefronts. Those of you that don't want to pay for clothes will be glad to hear that free Resident Evil Degeneration t-shirts will be given away for anyone that caught a sneak peak of the movie in the Home theater. TO EVERYONE. Yay!Home is just beginning. It'll be interesting to see how it evolves in 2009.

  • Whoops! No Red Bull Air Race this year

You may have noticed that the Home launch hasn't exactly gone smoothly. With the Home teams worldwide working on fixes for the numerous server and login issues the content release schedule has been pushed back, as people are now taking their Christmas breaks. What this boils down to is this: Don't expect to see the Red Bull Air Race this year. TedTheDog has stated on the European PlayStation forums that it definitely won't appear in 2008. Though "it really ought to be worth the wait, its really quite impressive and a lot of fun." We've played it and, while it's kind of neat, it's not quite as awesome as it's maybe getting hyped up to be. Still, content is content, and even TedTheDog admits that Home is currently "a little bare." He goes on to say that "we've got some problems to solve, but they'll be solved and we can then move on to running it as the service we all want." In other words, please remain patient for just a little longer. Well, we've waited this long, what's a few more weeks?

  • Red Bull charges into PS Home as first major sponsor

Puzzling through Sony's reasons for throwing money at PlayStation Home is not a task for weak of heart, but for long, sleepless hours spent burning the midnight oil. Thankfully we now have Red Bull, the online service's first major third-party partner, on tap to help energize our search for enlightenment.Details remain scant, though UK site Brand Republic notes that the energy drink company will have its own caffeinated island space in Home featuring "an aeroplane racing game based on Red Bull's real world Red Bull Air Race series." As Home does anything but race to release, we can't help but wonder if someday we'll take in Sony's advertisement-laden virtual landscape from the air, rather than while wandering aimlessly on the ground.[Via PS3 Fanboy]

The first third-party partner for Home, Sony's upcoming social networking platform, has been revealed. Revolution is reporting that Red Bull will have its own Home space, dedicated to the real-life Red Bull Air Race. The space will include "an aeroplane racing game based on Red Bull's real world Red Bull Air Race series." The brand marketing manager for Red Bull UK, John Beasley, says "the game gave us the first opportunity to recreate in the gaming world what we try to do in the real world, which is to facilitate interaction, to give people stories, memories, experiences and a really good opportunity to interact with the brand." Calling Home an "easy environment for brands to take that first step into gaming." No doubt that means we'll be seeing a lot more non-gaming brands coming to Home in the future. If you want to know more about some of Home's upcoming content be sure to check back with us later in the month.[Thanks Lee!]

This week, a pile of games are overwhelming DS shelves, but the real star is Jackass: The Game. Oh yes, Europe. It's your turn. It's normally only the biggest names that get splashed across limited edition DS Lites -- the Nintendogs, Zeldas, Pokémons, Guitar Heros, and Final Fantasys of this world. Playlogic clearly feels that Red Bull BC One is ready to join that elite bunch, because it ordered in an unspecified number of Onyx Black DSes and proceeded to uglify them by slapping these forgettable transfers on each.We don't wish to be mean-spirited, but we're struggling to see who will pick this up. In our experience, limited edition DSes are based on games with either a rabid fanbase, huge brand power, or both. As out of touch with modern culture as we are, we're fairly certain that Red Bull BC One has neither. At least the children of Playlogic CEOs know what they're getting for Christmas.%Gallery-26441%[Via Go Nintendo]

  • Use a Red Bull can as a radio interference shield

I love the iPhone, save for one thing. It sits on my desk every night, right near my computer, and the speakers I've got hooked up to it. And every 15 minutes, when the iPhone checks email for me, I get that buzzing -- the sound of radio interference flying across my speaker wires. And almost every night, I have to jump out of bed angrily just to shut off the speakers and stop the buzzing. Little did I know, all I've ever needed was an empty can of Red Bull.Yes, someone has fashioned a "shield" out of an emptied and carved up Red Bull can, and supposedly it works like a charm -- just fashion it around the dock that came with the iPhone, use a little doublestick tape to make sure it stays on there (and I would maybe put some around the edges, too, so you don't slice your fingers open every time you pull the iPhone off the dock), and no more buzzing sound. The maker does wonder if it would affect the actual signal of the iPhone at all, but it hasn't so far. If you've got a Red Bull can around to cut up and are driven as nuts as I am by that buzzing noise, here's your makeshift solution. The other option is to buy speakers that don't buzz, of course, but this seems a lot cheaper.

We just dropped (like they were hot) a bunch of new screens into our gallery from the dance competition game with the Rub Rabbits-meets-Frankenstein aesthetic, Red Bull BC One. Unfortunately, these latest screens do about as much to flatter the game as the last set did: flat, detail-free backdrops with low-poly character models just don't look that great. We understand the kind of heavily stylized appearance they were trying to do, and if that had happened, we would have found it awesome. We respect the idea, at least. We're willing to give BC One a certain amount of leeway just based on the fact that it is a game about breakdancing.%Gallery-19997%

Red Bull BC One has little to do with the energy drink in its title and more to do with the Red Bull-sponsored international breakdancing competition, a series of b-boy battles presenting the best of the best break-boys from around the world. In addition to announcing a DS extension of the tournament, publisher Playlogic released a batch of screenshots (hit the gallery below) and an online demo (browser plugin required).Despite the game's questionable art direction and insipid dialogue -- in one of the custcenes, a faceless challenger yells out, "Chiggidy check yourself before you wreck yourself," I kid you not -- the demo is fun and easy to pick up. Players connect groups of like-colored dots with the touchscreen, racing to form geometrical shapes against a time limit to execute moves. If you watched Step Up 2 and have felt compelled to "bust a move" while T-Pain croons a song about girls wearing "boots with the fur" ever since, this title is for you!Red Bull BC One promises a plethora of customization options, 100+ dance animations, and "WFi multiplayer levels." According to the screenshot above, the game will also feature characters modeled after movie monsters. %Gallery-19997%

  • The Daily Grind: What's your gamer fuel?

We saw this above image at our sister site, WoW Insider, and we couldn't help but wonder -- do these folks know their market or what? Personally, I'm working on my 3rd cup of coffee (hooray, hazelnut) and glad of both the caffeine and warmth considering a cold weather snap in my area. Our very own Moo Money is notorious for getting sugar-free Red Bull by the case because she likes the carbonation. Getting between Moo and her Red Bull can be a dangerous thing. We haven't tried the above "mana" potion elixir, but we've heard it tastes like Flintstones vitamins. (Of course, in a pinch and needing more energy, there are those among us who would probably drink one anyway.) Have you tried one? Do you like the pre-packaged energy fuel for gaming, or are you more the tea and coffee type? What's your favorite gamer fuel?

We love being caffeine-riddled enough to stay up and game all night. We're certainly intrigued to hear that the makers of the immensely popular Red Bull energy drink have signed a collaboration deal with UK developer FreeStyleGames. FreeStyle's Chris Lee says the deal, "goes way beyond in-game advertising deals seen in video games to date" and that they are, "working hand-in-hand to co-develop and design compelling, triple A titles that will be a true reflection of the Red Bull Energy Drink brand." Anyone else conjuring up nostalgic images of Cool Spot, featuring 7 UP's mascot? We'll have to wait and see if FreeStyle's collaboration will bear any similar surprises.[Via Eurogamer]

Mountain Dew and Red Bull just isn't enough for today's serious gamers. Now they need specially marketed energy supplements to keep them in the fragging zone. Enter Uncommon Loot and Headshot; the candy bar specifically created for gamers. With 100 mg of Guarana, Headshot could pack a serious punch considering that your average bottle of Bawls has approximately 80mg of everyone's favorite nervous system stimulant. Uncommon Loot will be releasing the product to gaming centers first and will eventually make it available on their website. We'll be sure to bring word of Headshot again after the first professional gamer is kicked out of competition for crushing and snorting his candy bar.[via Engadget]
