Capcom has confirmed that Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix has been delayed for the European PSN. There is currently no official release date for the title in the region and no explanation was given for the hold up. North America is still expected to get the title today with its special Tuesday edition of the PSN update (due to the Thanksgiving holiday). European Xbox 360 owners should still be able to pick up the game when it launches on XBLA tomorrow.%Gallery-34986%[Via PS3 Fanboy]

We sense a trend developing here. Following its offering of the retro-inspired Mega Man 9 press kit to the general public via its online store – albeit in extremely limited quantities – Capcom is about to do the same with its promotional materials for Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, which hits PSN tomorrow and XBLA on Wednesday, Nov. 26.The kit – which, apart from its box art featuring The Incredible Hulk as Ryu – is replete with SSFIITHDR goodies, including "Ryu's headband," an art disc, a special game tie-in comic by Udon, character magnets, and a Chun-LI figurine that's limited to 1,000 pieces. Capcom is planning to make around 300 of the kits available to those not in the gaming press, so keep its internet storefont bookmarked and refresh often. %Gallery-37863%

Now that we have a release date, Capcom decided it to be the opportune time to announce the pricing for remake Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. Deep breath, because it isn't cheap. According to Capcom's John Dianomon, SSFIITHDR will release to the Playstation 3's PSN for (drum roll) $14.99. True, this isn't an official price announcement for Street Fighter on the XBLA, but unless Capcom decides to sell it for a different price on each network, we think it's a safe bet that Street Fighter will cost Xbox gamers 1200 Microsoft points. A bit expensive, but re-drawing old sprites is no cheap task.[Via Shacknews]

Capcom popped onto the PlayStation Blog to plug the imminent arrival of Super Street Fighter II HD Remix on PSN next Tuesday, Nov. 25, and reveal the cost of admission: $14.99. Given this news, it's pretty safe to bet on the XBLA version – which arrives Wednesday, Nov. 26 – coming in at 1200 ($15), although neither Capcom nor Microsoft have announced official pricing. As we reported yesterday, those who purchase the PS3 version of the game will gain free access to the Street Fighter Underground Remix Soundtrack, a digital album download featuring Street Fighter-inspired hip-hop tracks by artists Redman, Hieroglyphics, DJ Qbert, DJ Toure, Zion I, Mistah F.A.B. and Oh No.

Confirming yesterday's rumor that Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix will be making its long-awaited debut on Xbox Live Arcade next Wednesday, November 26th, Capcom has also officially dated the PS3 version – for a day earlier, on Tuesday, November 25th. The PS3 version of the game will also come with a exclusive, free bonus: hip-hop tracks inspired by Street Fighter from DJ Qbert, Redman, Hieroglyphics, and others as a digital album download.PSN releases have historically been "locked" to Thursdays – much as XBL releases hit on Wednesdays – so is this a sign of change? Not likely, as Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 27, making this an exception to the "rule." (Konami is releasing the Metal Gear Online MEME expansion next Tuesday as well.) Either intentionally or unintentionally, Capcom announced (using a screenshot, no less) that November 26th is the release date for their upcoming XBLA release Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. Yes sir, in their press release regarding the new NXE Street Fighter "branded destination experience", they included a screenshot that spills the release date beans. The screen grab (seen above) explicitly says that SSFIITHDR will be "Coming Nov 26 to Xbox LIVE Arcade" ... pretty cut and dry, eh?

click to enlarge Capcom has just announced that a "branded experience" for Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix will launch tomorrow on the New Xbox Experience and, in doing so, may have given away the release date of the much-awaited game. An official screenshot of the themed Marketplace section prominently lists Wednesday, Nov. 26 as the day the game will launch. It's already known that the game has been submitted to both Microsoft and Sony for final approval. The SSFIITHDR section of the XBLM will contain downloads related to the game, including the recent SSFIIT theme for Pinball FX and both free and premium NXE themes, the latter featuring "extensive high-definition graphical layers that take over your Dashboard."Capcom recently launced a branded storefront on PSN's PlayStation Store, which is where – should its release fall in step with the 360's – the PS3 version of SSFIITHDR could go live on Nov. 27. Watch out, '80s child. At the 40-second mark in the above Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix video, you might just experience a flashback to that time you wore your dad's bathrobe belt on your head, begged to take karate classes and ended up breaking your best friend's nose while attempting the crane kick. By using Joe Esposito's "You're the Best" theme from The Karate Kid, this trailer grips the nostalgia angle harder than Chun-Li's thighs ever could. For those who have never seen (!!!!) The Karate Kid, check out a montage of the film's tournament scene, which uses the full version of "You're the Best," after the break.[Via X3F]

Nope, you didn't misread the title. Capcom's Street Fighter 2 will be making its way to Xbox Live Arcade game Pinball FX on November 12th ... in the form of a new pinball table. The new Ryu and Ken themed table will head to the Marketplace to coincide with the release of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix in November and will include original music and sound effects from the Street Fighter franchise. It'll also feature a bunch of combos, tournaments and a final boss battle where you duke it out with M. Bison and totally geek out in a euphoric Street Fighter fit. Capcom has yet to announce pricing details.

"Very soon" could very well mean "this month" for the release of Capcom's HD remix of Super Street Fighter II Turbo on PSN and XBLA, according to an official forum post by Christian Svensson, the company's VP of strategic planning & business development. Svensson confirmed that the game is finished and has been submitted to both Microsoft and Sony for approval, but that one or both versions could get bumped if the process hits any snags. "November is indeed the target month," he said, while cautioning that, "It is possible for us to bounce the submission on one and not the other which would cause the release to potentially not be simultaneous and still be released in November on one of the two." Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix has been in development for quite a while and even after a beta test we still don't have a firm release date. Capcom is secretive, that's just how they roll. So, when our Joystiq pals received a teaser email from team Capcom proclaiming that SSFIITHDR would be releasing to the Xbox Live Arcade "very soon", our inner Street Fighter fanboy was tickled with excitement.Exactly how soon is "very soon"? We dunno, but sooner or later we'll know what "very soon" means and will soon have SSFIITHDR ... soon.

Well, perhaps it'll be out by the time you've finished perusing the twenty new screenshots, featuring Cammy, Zangief and Blanka landing high-definition blows, below. %Gallery-34986%

PS3 fans haven't heard any news in regards to Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix in a long, long time. Xbox 360 owners had a chance to participate in the beta, but it was plagued with problems that were never fixed, if that makes you feel any better. The lack of news has lead some to conclude the game has been delayed; but fear not, in an interview with The Street Fighter Blog, associate producer Rey Jimenez reveals the game is on track for a 2008 release. "We're on track to release the game this year and barring any unforeseen catastrophic event, that should not be changing." He also told SF fans to expect an announcement of the exact release date shortly.Other elements covered in the interview range from the possibility extra characters via DLC (not happening) to whether the fighters will have their original colors selectable (yes, they will be). Although it appears to be missing its summer release window, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix is apparently in the "home stretch" according to Rey Jimenez, the game's associate producer. In an interview with the Street Fighter Blog, Jimenez explains that the title is "closing out all the bugs" from the open beta and "other open issues." He believes that "barring any unforeseen catastrophic event," the game should be out this year. Given how jam-packed this holiday season is already, maybe a delay wouldn't be so "catastrophic" at this point.[Via Siliconera]

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix's recently extended "open beta" got a technical hadouken this morning, addressing a number of the issues faced by the redrawn brawler, from connection lapses to frozen consoles. Other changes include Ken's newly-nerfed dragon punch, while Capcom says that the overall online experience has seen around a 50% improvement. Notes a post on the company's blog, "While we can't do anything about high ping times, we've optimized the gameplay experience so that it's less noticeable and smoother," some of which can be seen in video form here. Still, those pining for more characters to pummel will be left wanting. According to Capcom, adding additional fighters was "technically not possible for the patch." We'll just have to wait until we get our thumbs on the full game to get our Cammy on.

Sticking to their word, Capcom has just released a patch for the recently extended Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix beta which should improve everyone's overall beta experience. The patch will insta-download once the beta is launched and, once applied, will fix various bugs and gameplay issues including a 50% improvement in the overall net code. Sadly, the patch doesn't treat us to any new fighters or ratchet up the re-playability quotient. Shucks to that.

All along we were under that the soon to be patched Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix beta would be wrapping up towards the end of August. Maybe that was the initial plan, but now Capcom has had a change of heart by extending the beta window. September 5th is the new beta end date which we suspect the promised patch has something to do with. Speaking of patch, if you haven't already checked it out, the Capcom folks outlined all the updates and changes that'll be implemented. Have a happy August.

Just a matter of days after revealing that it will be patching various problems with the "open beta" of SSFIITDHR after all, Capcom has offered a second helping of fan service by extending the beta through September 5. The beta was originally slated to conclude on August 20.The extra play time is clearly in response to the forthcoming patch, which the most recent post on Capcom's blog states is still "coming soon." A second, earlier post on the site details some of the fixes due in the patch, including the elimination of nasty crashes when joining matches and the removal of Ken's cheesy strong Dragon Punch "juggle" bug. We look forward to finally getting in some actual quality time with the beta soon.
