Waiting for the unlocked versions of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge? We hope you've been saving up. They're now available in the US for those who don't want to be locked into a contract with a carrier for two years and those who want the freedom to choose their plans. The unlocked devices are still the same phones you fell in love with earlier this year and will work on most GSM and CDMA carriers in the country, including all the big hitters (AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon and US Cellular). You can nab one straight from Samsung's website, but you can also get either of them from various distributors and retailers, such as Amazon, Best Buy and Target. As always, expect to pay more up front for an unlocked device: the Galaxy S7 will set you back $670, while the Galaxy S7 edge will cost you $100 more.

What better way to celebrate the third anniversary of the popular mobile game Injustice: Gods Among Us than with a Batman-themed phone. Samsung created the Galaxy S7 Edge Justice Edition for the occasion (rather than the release of a certain movie), mixing black and gold accents for the new version. This special model "enhanced hardware and software capability" alongside larger battery capacity which should make the mobile gaming experience a bit better.

Though Samsung's new Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are both great phones -- each earned a score of 90 -- it's the Edge that's improved the most over the past year. Whereas the S6 Edge's curved screen felt like a gimmick (albeit a gorgeous one), this year's model introduces some software tricks that do a better job taking advantage of that extra screen real estate. Even if you disagree with us on the gimmick thing, though, it's hard to argue with everything else the S7 Edge brings to the table. Among its finest attributes: an easier-to-hold design, waterproofing, improved camera, a bigger battery, more powerful internals and the return of the microSD slot, which was omitted in last year's S6 series. In many ways it's the same great phone as the regular S7, except it's bigger, has a curved screen and costs a hundred bucks more. For the money, though, you get one seriously striking design.

The Mobile World Congress expo in Barcelona is fast becoming a distant memory, but now is the season for flagship phones announced at the show to start making their way to consumers. Today, it's Samsung's turn. It's fair to say the new Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are only iterative improvements on last year's models; but with slicker styling, the return of expandable storage and flagship-grade performance, they're among the best Android smartphones money can buy. You may've even clocked a few in the wild already, since anyone that pre-ordered either device should've received theirs earlier this week. We understand that not everyone's that organised, though, so join us as we explore all the purchasing options on general release day.

  • Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge review: Samsung's finest get more polished

After years of trafficking in plastic flagships, the glass-and-metal Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge proved Samsung still knew how to make jaw-dropping phones. Ah, but there was a rub -- a few of them, in fact. The expandable memory slots were gone. Neither phone was waterproof. The S6 Edge's flat back and slim sides felt awkward. Curvy screens aside, both phones were identical. The shortcomings were few, but they were notable. Rather than start anew, Samsung's designers instead set about refining last year's formula, smoothing rough edges and making the new S7 and S7 Edge feel meaningfully different. Spoiler alert: It worked, and anyone even considering a new Android phone needs to consider owning one of these things. And yet, for all the polishing Samsung has done, these S7 siblings fall short of game-changer territory -- this is a year of careful, logical upgrades.

Now that LG has shown us the G5 and "Friends," it is Samsung's turn to take the stage at Mobile World Congress 2016. If last year's event in Barcelona is any indication, all signs point toward the Korean company prepping to reveal the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, its latest flagship smartphones. There's also chance we'll learn more about the new Gear S2 smartwatch, which comes with an electronic SIM card. Whatever it may be, we're here to bring you the news as it happens. The keynote starts at 1PM ET/10AM PT -- grab some popcorn and keep your eyes peeled to this post.

As is the case with most hotly anticipated smartphones, the closer the launch event gets, the quicker the spoilermill churns. At this point, it's safe to say that Samsung's February 21st event will be headlined by the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, and the former device has been papped yet again in some of the best in-the-wild pictures to date. Android Authority published the snaps today, alongside an Instagram-length clip of the handset giving us a twirl. Apart from offering another glimpse at the S7's glass-clad body, there's little to extract from the leak, though one image does appear to confirm the existence of the coveted microSD slot.
