  • New Gyakuten Saiban 4 screens

We're having a pretty hard time coping with our Gyakuten Saiban withdrawals. Ever since we learned that we wouldn't be able to play the Japanese release in English, we've had to turn to alternate means to get our daily allowance of fake Japanese law. We refresh the GS4 website obsessively, play the translated demo until it hits question-mark land, and shout "OBJECTION" at every opportunity that is even a little appropriate. We found some screens on Famitsu to torture ourselves with. They show the intro to the second case, a witness in Chapter 1, and Chapter 2's defendant. If you want to make yourself feel bad about the lack of Ace Attorney in your life, then by all means, have a look. If you can't handle the wait, we suggest trying to put the whole thing out of your mind.

There's nothing quite like bowing down to the almighty dollar (or in this case, almighty yen), is there? Clearly nothing compares, as evidenced in the embedded video past the post break where real-life Japanese lawyer Kazuya Maruyama helps promote Gyakuten Saiban 4. As with all Japanese commercials, the video is fairly short, but like all things Gyakuten Saiban, we are obligated to present it.[Via Dark Diamond]

We're not much for breaking the law ourselves, but a secret this good cannot be kept to ourselves. It's like our Kryptonite, this Phoenix Wright fella. And now, this collection of music from his games has us on our knees and praising to any higher deity that will listen. We're thankful this individual who crafted this page took the time to help us out and bestow upon us this wonderful collection of music. Wait, what are we saying, we already had all this music ...Well, here's to hoping you didn't have the music![Thanks Chris!]

  • Hold it! Capcom now accepting pleas for the next Phoenix Wright

If you make your way to Capcom's official Phoenix Wright forums, you'll note that they've just started up a cool little contest involving the third and as yet unlocalized game in the series, Gyakuten Saiban 3. The task is simple: use the provided comic and speech bubbles to create a convincing and preferably hilarious argument for Capcom to bring Gyakuten Saiban 3 to the US as Ace Attorney 3. The allure of winning adorable Phoenix Wright figures is no easy thing to resist. That being said, is Capcom's ultimate decision really going to be influenced by a forum contest? Considering their recent approach to marketing within the gaming community, we'd suggest that we already have the confirmation of Ace Attorney 3 right here -- unless they were planning to pick some winners and then promptly deny them a localization. Further evidence can be found in the recently released (and utterly superb) Justice for All, which made the Phoenix Wright name less prominent and placed the focus on Ace Attorney. This is likely in preparation for an English version of Gyakuten Saiban 4, the forthcoming built-for-DS sequel that stars a new protagonist. (Just in case we're completely wrong though, keep in mind that the contest comes to a close on February 28!)[Via DS Fanboy]

Now that we've seen what the magazines have to say, it's high time we checked in with the various sites of the world wide webtron. With mostly favorable reviews of the title (natch), we're glad we do not have to enter the tubes ourselves and personally kill any online entities responsible for bad-mouthing our favorite Ace Attorney. At the time of this post, we don't have all of the online reviews yet (1UP and IGN), but once they've posted them, we'll come back and update this post. Gamespot (77/100) says it's more of the same and doesn't innovate: "Justice for All is a good, lengthy adventure with great character-driven storylines, but it fails to build upon the promising groundwork laid by the first game." Games Radar (80/100) is quick to call it a great follow-up to the previous game: "The charm and clever logic puzzles are still here, and the cases deliver the same charge-back-from-the-edge-of-defeat rush that made the first game so cool. Whether you're a fan of the original or a newcomer to Wright's bizarre legal world, you won't be disappointed."

Everyone's favorite ace attorney Phoenix Wright is releasing a new game stateside next week. but for those of you in the UK and Germany who have been sitting idly by and waiting for the sequel to the best DS game ever can finally breath a sigh of relief. Turns out, you'll be getting your hands on the game mid-March. March 16th, to be exact, with the hold-up apparently being due to German language localization. With such a wait, are any of you German and UK residents out there planning on importing the US version? Or have you already imported the Japanese game, which has an English translation?See also: Metareview (the mags) - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Justice For All

  • Yet another Phoenix Wright shirt we want

What a sweet shirt! We object to its sweetness on the grounds that our eyeballs cannot take it! The shirt is just too sweet for us, causing convulsions in our staff equal to that of an epileptic seizure. The person responsible for crafting such a kickass shirt (flickr user xlamex), also made a sweet Okami shirt as well. Kudos on a job well done!See also: DIY: make your own Phoenix Wright shirt

After receiving the gift during Christmas from a friend, reader 20XX decided to put his newly-acquired t-shirt creation kit to work, choosing to stamp the silhouette of our favorite ace attorney onto one of the included shirts. The end product is the shirt pictured above, which turned out pretty good. Anyone care to object? As always, if you spot a cool DS-themed shirt online or, like 20XX made your own, let us know!

We gladly admit that we are Phoenix Wright freaks. We do not question our fandom and we encourage others to join us in our epic quest for justice, DS style. You can see why we were so thrilled to hear about Play-Asia having a special sticker bonus for us fans. We were gleeful, ecstatic and any other word you can think of that means overly excited. So excited that we did a jig on our desk in the middle of class. Suddenly, a dark cloud loomed over our jig. We got an a few emails saying that the Phoenix Wright stickers are no more. WHAT?! Yes, for "unknown reasons" they were canceled. We know dear readers, we know. This news is heartbreaking. In fact, is there anyone we can sue? [Thanks Lush and Vincent!]

Phoenix Wright is a great and very popular game. This we have said many, many times. Though Japan has been blessed with this series for a while, we are still thankful that it made it stateside. Now, Japan is going up one step and releasing a soundtrack for Phoenix Wright! And, there are going to be two different covers for it. If you buy the OST online, you will get the lovely picture displayed here on the cover. But, if you decide to purchase it at the Tokyo Game Show (because we know you all are going) you will have a different cover. [Via OJ Net]
