Codemasters has released another entry in their "hero's guide" series of articles for The Lord of the Rings Online, this one centering on the Lone-Lands, home of Weathertop and many other dangerous locales. The Lone-Lands are marked by the ruins of ancient kingdoms, each once part of the human kingdom of Arnor before shattering apart and going their own ways. Those ways ended up leading to war, with the kingdom of Rhudaur siding with the minions of the witch king in order to conquer the other two kingdoms. It was in these battles that the watch post of Weathertop fell, as it sat right on the borders between each of the three kingdoms. For all the tasty goodies and lore-related treats about the Lone-Lands, check out the full guide located over at LotRO Europe.

There's a new The Lord of the Rings Online Lorebook entry that should interest would-be Tomb Raiders in virtual Middle-earth. Turbine has pointed the lore spotlight at Men Erain, a structure near Annúminas in Evendim. As usual, two very attractive screenshots are included with the new entry.Men Erain has for centuries served as the tomb for the royalty of the now-fallen Western kingdom of Arnor, who ruled from the nearby city of Annúminas. Those kings were heirs of Isildur, the man who cut the ring from Sauron's hand. Now the tomb has been looted, but it may yet hold some secrets to be discovered.By now you could look up all the featured Lorebook locations and spend about three weeks going on an unbelievably geeky lore pilgrimage, if you're into that sort of thing.

Their guides to the North Downs, Ered Luin, and Angmar were all great, and this one's just as helpful.Titles you can earn in Evendim include Slayer of the Gauredain, Enemy of the Giants, Bane of the Kergrim, Keeper of Mysteries, and more. Of course you can get all sorts of helpful traits as well.Evendim was added to LotRO's world in Book 9 and is home to Annuminas, the former capitol of Arnor (the western sister to Gondor). Now it's populated by all sorts of unpleasant northern terrors such as the Gauredain.

GameSpy has posted an extensive preview of The Rise of the Witch-king, the new expansion pack for The Battle for Middle-earth II. Expected to arrive on PCs this holiday season, the RotWK campaign takes place in the years after the One Ring leaves greedy Isildur, and the Lord of the Nazgul rises to power over the kingdom of Arnor (Aragorn's peeps). In addition to the 12-mission evil campaign, the new Angmar faction introduces the spellcasting Thrall Master and Sorcerer units, the latter of which can convert fallen enemies into servants of the Witch-king.An Xbox 360 version of RotWK has not been confirmed, but hopefully EA will save some holiday cheer for Xbox Live Marketplace shoppers.
