My second week returning to Final Fantasy XI has come to a close. It's strange; I thought I was going to be a lot more frustrated with the game by this point, but apparently, I'm not. In fact, I've gotten halfway to level 16 on my Warrior. Check out week one if you'd like to read these in order. It probably helps that I'm listening to podcasts and chilling on my bed/floor as I play. Having a wireless controller really frees up my ability to move around while playing an MMO. Sure, there are nice things about getting your groove going on the PC, but you can't prop up some pillows and kick back while killing some Clippers. Now that I mention it, I killed so many Clippers this week that I could make a mountain of crab cake and live atop it as a king wearing a crown of crab claws.

You see, when you attack in FFXI, it locks you into a slow walking animation. Grouping in FFXI takes so very long, that often times when you get a group together one or more of the members have to leave for some reason or another.

Readers of Massively, ask not what your Final Fantasy XI nation can do for you, but how you can best tweet for your nation! Oh, and did we mention that there's fabulous prizes?FFXIclopedia and Square-Enix have teamed up for a fun Twitter oriented contest, giving away three real life replicas of the nation rings in Final Fantasy XI. These nation rings aren't just cheap replicas either, as each ring is made of silver and retails for 115 bucks! All you have to do is simply follow @ffxiclopedia and tweet why you support #windurst, #bastok, or #san d'oria in the form of a sentence. The contest will run until July 4th, and winners will be chosen on July 5th. The three winners, one from each nation's supporters, will win a replica of their nation's ring -- so choose your support wisely!

Hello there adventurers! It's Friday, I know, and Friday is not Thursday. That, however, won't stop me from bringing Final Fantasy XI aid to you! I promised you more information on the mission system, and that's exactly what I'm going to be delivering in this edition of "Starting out in Vana'diel."Missions are one of the key aspect of the game. They tell the main story, a la a standard Final Fantasy title, they offer boss battles, chances to team up with friends, and, most importantly, tangible rewards. Missions offer gil and increases in nation rank, which in turn opens up more items for you to grab. Now I would love to walk you through the missions for each city, but all of them play out differently until the storylines intersect in the city of Jeuno. That makes a nice walkthrough very hard for a column like this. What I can offer you is some great tips on how to increase your rank, and exactly why you want to spend the trouble doing it.
