  • The Bourne Conspiracy trailer looks surprisingly rad

We've got a pretty hard and fast rule when it comes to movie-based-games: "Avoid them like a two-month-old bubonic plague sandwich." It's usually easy to follow, but sometimes, totally rad trailers come along and shake our resolve. Take, for instance, this demonstration for The Bourne Conspiracy. We're aware that the odds are in favor of the game being a hastily crafted Syphon Filter clone, but that doesn't make this trailer any less exhilarating. Somehow, our apprehension towards a game just fades away when it features the ability to bludgeon a man to death with literature.Watch the trailer with an open mind, you might dig it as well -- just try not to hold the video's awkward narration against it. Don LaFontaine this guy ain't.

  • Devs still bitter about non-HDD Xbox 360 Arcade

We thought we were in the clear regarding the controversy that surrounded both the hard drive'less Xbox 360 Core and Arcade models, but we've come to accept that sensitive topics like this will never die.In a recent chat with CVG, Bourne Conspiracy lead designer Rory McGuire flat out said that Microsoft made a "mistake" with their decision to not make a hard drive mandatory in all Xbox 360 models. McGuire told CVG that "in retrospect I wish Microsoft had made the choice to have [mandatory] hard drives like Sony did with the PS3." McGuire further went on to explain the development advantages of having a HDD saying that "if you have a hard drive, the whole game loads faster. Obviously you'll be facing a short install time, but the developer benefits from it and you definitely benefit from it as a player." Take that Microsoft! On second analysis, it's entirely possible that Microsoft could make HDDs mandatory in all Xbox 360 consoles by axing the Arcade and taking out another $1.9 billion hit to ship 20GB HDDs to Core and Arcade owners. Makes sense to us.

  • Bourne Conspiracy screens threaten to drown us

Just when we think we're coming to our senses about anticipating a licensed game Sierra Entertainment and High Moon Studios release new images of Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Conspiracy.Based on the best-selling series of novels, not the film trilogy starring Matt Damon, the game follows title character Jason Bourne in his pursuit to remember his past while using anything at his disposal to "take dudes out" -- including the kitchen sink. Bourne might be a licensed title, but from what we've seen it looks more comparable in quality to the awesome Chronicles of Riddick and less like craptastic Alvin and the Chipmunks. We don't want to start a war but five points to anyone who can explain how Jason Bourne can switch from hand-to-hand to weapons on the fly with no delay yet Ryu of Ninja Gaiden II fame still hasn't figured that one out. The nine new screens are available inside. Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Conspiracy hits the Xbox 360 and PS3 this summer.%Gallery-4286%

Recently, High Moon Studios released fresh images for its upcoming novel-inspired third-person action game Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Conspiracy. Maybe we should know better then to anticipate a licensed product, but the mix of 24: The Game action meets Uncharted: Drake's Fortune combat has us suspiciously craving an immediate hands-on with the upcoming Xbox 360 and PS3 game. While dreaming of modern-day ninja throwing a baddie from a moving airplane we stumbled to the wallpaper section of High Moon Studio's official website where one image was titled Xbox 360 Cover Art. The ten recently released images and apparent cover art wallpaper image can be found within.%Gallery-4286%

We know that advertising isn't always the best way to judge a product (or your own sanity) so we're trying to keep our optimism cautious when we're watching this new trailer from the completely Damon-free The Bourne Conspiracy. We're trying, but it's hard, because what's here, from the gravelly voice of Bourne to the combat, looks really, really cool. But maybe it's OK to get our hopes up a bit. After all, we liked High Moon's last game Darkwatch, why wouldn't we like this one? Either way, High Moon's going to be at GDC, so hopefully we'll have a better idea of Bourne's skills by the end of February.

Sierra has seen fit to release a new trailer for The Bourne Conspiracy, the upcoming title based on the book. Players take on the role of Jason Bourne, a super soldier of sorts who is talented in espionage and the breaking of wrists, elbows, knees, and whatever other bones you care to place in front of him. It's hard to tell how much -- if any -- of the footage contained in the trailer is actual gameplay, but parts appear to be recorded within the game engine, and it's looking very nice indeed. With The Bourne Conspiracy and Splinter Cell Conviction both releasing this year, it will be interesting to see how they fare against each other.%Gallery-4286%

Sierra Entertainment has announced Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Conspiracy for Xbox 360 (and PS3 ... blah, blah). Developed by High Moon Studios, creators of the vampiric western, Darkwatch, the game puts players in the shoes of brainwashed government assassin, Jason Bourne. The game promises to let players experience Bourne's evolution from deadly assassin to rogue agent. Given the visual similarities to Splinter Cell Conviction and the attachment of Robert Ludlum's name to the title, it looks like Sierra is doing everything it can to establish a competing franchise. With Conviction seemingly borrowing from the Bourne films, it will be interesting to see the inevitable comparisons between the two games when The Bourne Conspiracy ships next summer.More info will be revealed at E3 next month, and a cover story will appear in the August issue of OXM.
