Capcom Fighting Evolution advances to PSN in next week's North American update. Following in the footsteps of Capcom vs. SNK 2, the 2004 crossover is coming as a PS2 Classic, meaning it'll only be playable on PS3 and won't feature any additions like online multiplayer. The news comes via the PlayStation Blogcast, with no details on pricing. CFE's 23 characters stem from Street Fighter 2, SF 3, SF Alpha, the Darkstalkers series, and Red Earth, minus the exception of bow-tied psychic Ingrid who the game introduced.

Both Capcom Fighting Evolution (Capcom Fighting Jam in Japan) and Capcom vs SNK 2 are available on PlayStation Network in Japan, leaving fighting fans in the US wanting of what was once a bad business idea. Capcom senior VP Christian Svensson offers a crumb of hope in the Capcom forums, saying both will be here "eventually."Svensson says we should hear more about both "next year," and that the "timing will be quite different though from Japan." We can't be sure what he means by the latter statement, but since both saw their reemergence as PS2 Classics on Japan's PSN months apart, it's possible there won't be such a gap between releases when they finally arrive in these parts.

Whoa, hey, listen -- put that knife down. Look, we know you just had a terrifying Capcom Fighting Jam flashback, but everything is going to be okay. We've got no idea whether Capcom's newly registered trademark for "Fighters of Capcom" has anything to do with a fighting game. It could just as easily be the western name for some GREE card battling thing for cell phones, specifically Capcom All Stars with Everyone, which launched in Japan late last month. It is video game related, we do know that much. The trademark's designation covers several variations on "Computer game software," as well as a few forms of "Electronic game programs for mobile phones and smart phones" and a mountain of other distinctions. We've reached out to Capcom for more information, so let's just both take a deep breath and drink this calming chamomile tea before someone gets knife murdered.
