Zumba Fitness has now maintained seven consecutive weeks atop Chart-Track's UK all formats chart, with a 33 percent increase in sales this past week. One more week in the top spot and Zumba Fitness will have matched the first-place records held by the likes of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Need for Speed: Underground 2. Adding to the weirdness, Cars 2 sales doubled, placing it in second. The not-very-compelling Call of Juarez: The Cartel enjoyed third and, as if we should be surprised, Just Dance 2: Extra Songs sales increased 127 percent to place it into fourth. We're going to go take a couple Advil to kill this cognitive dissonance. Check out the UK top ten after the break.

Zumba Fitness. Six weeks straight. #1. Not only that, but as Chart-Track points out, Zumba Fitness has spent 17 straight weeks atop the Wii Full Price Chart. It currently holds the bronze for unbroken weeks at the top, with Wii Fit so close at 19 weeks and Just Dance 2 not far off at 23 weeks. Ubisoft's Call of Juarez: The Cartel premiered in second, with Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 2 casting "stupefy" to climb four spots into third. The only real surprise in the top ten was Dungeon Siege 3's sixth place ascension from just outside the top ten, but that was thanks to a price promotion. Also, Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon debuted at number 15. Check out the top of the UK charts after the break.

The unstoppable Zumba Fitness won't let go of the spotlight, holding the top spot on Chart-Track's UK all-formats chart for a fifth week in a row. Despite a 24 percent drop in sales, the dance-ercise title celebrates its eighth time holding the crown since the Wii version launched in March. Stupefy simulator Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 2 premiered in seventh place. Chart-Track notes it's the lowest sales performance ever for a Harry Potter game. Thanks to "significant" price promotion, EA Sport Active 2 sales shot up 338 percent, sweatin' its way back into the top ten in eighth place. Check out the full UK top ten after the break.

For a fourth consecutive week, Zumba Fitness maintained its spot atop Chart-Track's UK all-formats chart. The title has danced its way to the gold seven times since the Wii version launched in March. Another fitness game that's making moves on the charts is THQ's UFC Personal Trainer, which debuted at #22 a couple weeks back, but is now close to punching into the top ten at #13. No new releases broke the Top 40 last week, so the top ten is full of the usual suspects, many which benefited from price promotions. Such was the case with Dirt 3, which raced into second, with a 28 percent increase in sales. Transformers: Dark of the Moon, the tie-in title to the summer blockbuster, transformed that extra exposure into a 10 percent increase in sales, placing it in third. Autobots can roll out past the break for the UK top ten.

Zumba Fitness has maintained the top spot on the UK charts for three straight weeks, with Chart-Track prognosticating the title has "a good chance of holding on for a few more weeks yet." The workout dance game has reached the top spot in the UK a total of six times and -- here's the mind blowing part -- last week beat the sales of the games in spots two through five combined, despite Zumba experiencing a 5 percent drop in sales. We know this time is "quiet" in terms of sales, but this is just getting seriously awkward. With the completion of Wimbledon 2011, two tennis titles racketed up some sales. Virtua Tennis 4 stormed the court, moving up 15 spots into the fifth seat, while Top Spin 4 jumped two spots into eigth. Last week's debut titles to crack the top 40 were Capcom's Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D and THQ's UFC Personal Trainer, at spots 21 and 22, respectively. Check out the UK's top ten games after the break.

  • Zumba Fitness stays atop UK charts for fifth week, LA Noire brings up second place

It seems that 505 Games' Zumba Fitness motion game is destined to occupy every living room in the UK, as it was the UK's highest selling title last week -- even after 31 weeks of availability. Regaining a place in the top five, Rockstar's LA Noire took second place, though it saw a 15 percent dip in sales. Here's where things get really depressing: Suda 51 and Shinji Mikami's excellent Shadows of the Damned debuted on the charts at number 31, beaten not only by the likes of recently released stinkfest Duke Nukem Forever, but even older titles like Art Academy and EA Sports Active 2. FEAR 3 faced a starkly different reception, landing the number three spot just below LA Noire. We're not mad, UK readers and EA marketers -- just, ya know, disappointed.

  • Zumba Fitness regains top UK sales spot; Ocarina of Time plays second fiddle

We've given up trying to understand. Zumba Fitness is back atop the UK charts this week, a position it's enjoyed several times before. This latest ascension for Zumba was thanks to a 51 percent increase in sales of the Wii version. Chart-Track doesn't provide an explanation for the sales boost ... probably because some things just can't be explained. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for 3DS enjoyed a second place debut on the charts, with around 20% of UK 3DS owners buying the title during its launch week. Duke Nukem Forever sales slipped 58 percent and the title drops two spots into third place for its second week at retail -- this hasn't quite been the glorious comeback for Nukem. Other premieres last week were Dungeon Siege 3 and Alice: Madness Returns, which charted at ninth and 13th, respectively. Child of Eden, the Kinect-enabled sensory experience appreciated by critics, debuted in 25th. Taste the purple of the UK top ten after the break.

After 14 years, it'd be sad if Duke Nukem Forever didn't enter Chart-Track's UK All Formats chart in the top spot. So, hail to the king, baby. L.A. Noire graciously slipped only one spot into second, despite a 54 percent drop in sales. We knew Rockstar's crime drama had a massive premiere, becoming the UK's fastest-selling new IP, but those debut numbers must have been massive to survive several large double-digit percentage sales declines the past few weeks and yet maintain such a high ranking. Rounding out the top three: Zumba Fitness, which only saw a 2 percent decline. Two other premieres made it into the top ten last week, with inFamous 2 and Red Faction: Armageddon heroically taking spots four and eight, respectively. • LA Noire guilty of being UK sales winner for third week in a row

L.A. Noire, despite a 56 percent drop in sales this past week, remained the top game in the UK, according to Chart-Track's All Formats chart. With little in the way of competition, Rockstar's crime procedural, which debuted as the UK's fastest-selling new IP two weeks ago, maintained its position atop a list of the usual suspects. Lego Pirates of the Caribbean caught the trade winds and sailed back into second, while Dirt 3 lost some ground and slipped one spot into third. Sims 3: Generations, the fourth expansion pack for the series and the only game that wasn't previously playing musical chairs in the UK top ten, premiered in tenth. The only other debut that made it into the Top 40 was the Bethesda published Hunted: The Demon's Forge. Despite receiving (at least in the States) what feels like little promotion, InXile's decent game still managed to come out swinging a sword in 14th place. L.A. Noire, which premiered as the UK's fastest-selling new IP, maintained its top position on Chart-Track's UK All Formats chart this past week. Dirt 3, the only new competitor to race into the top ten, had to settle for second. Lego Pirates of the Caribbean lost some wind in its sails and fell to third, with Brink rounding out the top five. Zumba Fitness maintained fourth, with sales up 19 percent last week. It's like Zumba Fitness was infused with that Just Dance "staying power" magic -- and as it happens, Just Dance 2, despite not being in the top ten, has been hanging around close by (at No. 11). Price promotions helped give sales boosts to some of the top ten remainders. Check those out after the break.

Your friends list can probably corroborate: L.A. Noire is a hit. Chart-Track revealed today that Team Bondi's crime drama is the "fastest-selling new video game IP ever in the UK," and the 13th fastest-selling title during launch week for Xbox 360 (11th fastest on PS3). It'll be interesting to see if L.A. Noire does as well as Red Dead Redemption, which sucked the oxygen out of retail during its first few weeks. Meanwhile, Lego Pirates of the Caribbean maintained second place, while Brink slipped from its top position last week to third. Zumba Fitness won't go home when the lights go out, slipping only six percent in sales and capturing a spot in fourth. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings premiered in fifth as the only other debut to break into the top 40 last week. The sequel outsold The Witcher's UK launch nearly three to one, according to Chart-Track -- remember that those figures don't include digital sales. Brink took the top spot on the UK all-formats charts last week, and even the PlayStation 3 version (which couldn't support online play last week) became the best seller on the platform. With the PSN restored, it should soon receive the matchmaking updates added to the Xbox 360 version. Lego Pirates of the Caribbean sailed into second for its debut, while Zumba Fitness held a solid footing at third, experiencing only a two percent drop in sales. The rest of the top ten is a mix of the regulars, except for THQ's MX vs ATV Alive, which premiered in the tenth spot. It'll be interesting to see how that "budget" title performs on the charts, since most of its revenue is expected to come from DLC. Head past the break for the UK All Platforms top ten.

Stop it. It's not funny anymore. Zumba Fitness returns to the top spot on the UK charts this week, following a two-week hiatus during which Portal 2 enjoyed the spotlight. With no significant new titles last week, the charts appear to be an energetic shuffle of the regulars. Portal 2 sales were down 43 percent and hit second place, while Mortal Kombat dropped by 52-percent into third. Call of Duty: Black Ops moved up a spot and took fourth, likely due to the promotion of last week's "Escalation" map pack. Everything else is pretty standard -- case in point: Just Dance 2 is hanging out in tenth. Check out the UK top ten after the break.

Valve's Portal 2 and Warner Bros. Interactive's Mortal Kombat stayed locked in kombat for a second week at the top of the UK software sales chart. Portal 2 maintained its dominance for a second round, but opted not to perform a fatality on Mortal Kombat. Spectators of the tournament included Zumba Fitness, Operation Flashpoint: Red River and Call of Duty: Black Ops in spots three through five, respectively. The holiday double-whammy in the UK last week (Easter Monday and the Royal Wedding) caused a disturbance in sales. The top ten consisted only of previously released titles, with Just Dance 2 doing the cha-cha back up the charts to re-enter in the 10 spot. Chart-Track notes that Sega launched two new titles last week, with Virtua Tennis 4 charting at number 23 and Thor: God of Thunder missing the Top 40 entirely. Check out the usual suspects of chart toppers after the break.

Portal 2 nabbed the top spot on the UK software sales chart last week, followed by Warner Bros. Interactive's Mortal Kombat reboot in second place. According to Chart-Track, Portal 2 was actually Valve's first ever all-formats chart topper -- the closest the company ever got to the crown was with The Orange Box, which reached third place. Call of Duty: Black Ops "price promotions" in the region caused Activision's behemoth to jump back into the the top three, followed by last week's chart topper, Zumba Fitness, which still increased sales by 10 percent last week. The top five was rounded out by the blockheads of Lego Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars. Operation Flashpoint: Red River also had a solid debut, entering the charts in sixth place. Zumba Fitness, which recently launched on Wii, has been working out in the top spot on the UK sales charts for a second week. With Zumba Fitness on the lips (and working those hips) of the populace, the Xbox 360 version also saw a 14 percent sales increase. Lego Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars and Crysis 2 dueled for second, but ultimately the multiplatform blockheads used The Force to push the billion-dollar nanosuit down into third. Chart-Track notes that the upcoming Easter holiday spurred plenty of retailer sales, which likely contributed to strong sales increases of Call of Duty: Black Ops (+62%, #9), Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 (+112%, #11) and Red Dead Redemption (+458%, #13). • Zumba Fitness overtakes Crysis 2 for top UK sales spot

    04.11.2011

Zumba Fitness and Crysis 2 both moved significantly less product last week in the UK. With only 500 copies separating the two the prior week, the 57 percent drop by Crysis 2 and the 47 percent decline by Zumba Fitness meant the latter took the lead. It seems that "winning" the sales chart last week was all about having the lowest decline in sales, as almost every game in the top six saw a 40-something percent drop (Chart-Track speculates it was the UK's warm weather). This led to Lego Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars forcing itself to maintain third place, while Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters climbed up two spots into fourth and Shift 2: Unleashed decelerated into fifth. Tecmo-Koei's Dynasty Warriors 7 was the only new entry in the Top 40, button-mashing itself all the way up to tenth place. Observe the UK top ten after the break.

Crysis 2 barely held off Zumba Fitness from taking the top spot on the UK sales chart last week, with only 500 copies separating the two, according to Chart-Track. The Zumba rise in the all-formats chart (up 3,148 percent) was triggered by the Wii version's launch on April 1 (no joke). Lego Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars slipped one spot into third, while Shift 2: Unleashed debuted in fourth. Fellow racer Motorstorm: Apocalypse didn't have such a stellar premiere in position 17, perhaps due in part to some launch hiccups. Homefront lost a little ground last week, retreating back to fifth. Keeping THQ's heavily marketed first-person shooter company were two new chart entrants: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters and WWE All Stars, which premiered in sixth and seventh, respectively. Activate power mode and sprint past the break for the UK top ten.

Crysis 2 and the Nintendo 3DS both disrupted the steady order of the UK all-formats charts last week, with Crytek's showcase shooter taking top spot in software. According to Chart-Track, the distribution of sales across formats for Crysis 2 gave 57 percent to Xbox 360, 29 percent to PS3 and 14 percent on PC -- of course, the company doesn't account for digital distribution, which would likely alter the PC figure. Other chart-topping debuts last week included Lego Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars in second and The Sims: Medieval in seventh. The 3DS premiere helped launch Super Street Fighter 4 3D Edition, Pilotwings Resort and Rayman 3D into the overall top ten, with Capcom's portable fighter winding up in fourth as the most popular launch title for the system. The 3DS version of Lego Star Wars 3 was the fifth most successful title for 3DS, just below Super Monkey Ball 3D. Meanwhile, last week's chart-topper, Homefront, lost a little ground and fell back to third place. Check out the UK top ten after the break.

THQ's Homefront blitzed the UK's wallets last week, taking the top spot on Chart-Track's all formats chart. According to Chart-Track data obtained by Eurogamer, format purchasing for the new IP was quite lopsided, with 70 percent of total retail Homefront sales being on Xbox 360, 26 percent on PS3 and the four percent remainder (which does not include digital distribution) on PC. Due to the invasion the prior week's top two, Dragon Age 2 and Pokemon White, slipped down one spot each, leaving BioWare's well-received RPG in second place. Beyond Homefront, the UK saw several solid premieres last week. PC-exclusive Total War: Shogun 2 found an honorable place in fourth, while multiplatform tennis sim Top Spin 4 just missed out on the top ten in the 12th spot. Taking a trip further down the list, we find Yakuza 4 debuting at number 25.
