    Toyota halts autonomous car testing on public roads

    Uber's fatal pedestrian collision is producing a ripple effect in the self-driving car industry. Toyota has temporarily halted public tests of its Chauffeur autonomous system due to the potential "emotional effect" on its human drivers. It's not certain how long the pause will last or whether this is prompting a review of Toyota's technology.

    Lincoln 'invents' Uber, but for rich people

    If you're the sort of person who's used to driving around in a Lincoln, then a regular Uber probably feels like a step down. That's why the luxury motor company has launched its own twist on the "have other people drive you around" business model. According to Autoblog, Lincoln Chauffeur will let Lincoln owners rent a driver for short periods of time, turning up to your home and then driving you around in your own car. So, you know, it's Dryver.

    Uber's latest option is a personal chauffeur

    If you're traveling, or flitting about from one business meeting to another, it can be annoying to arrange a ride for every stop on the journey. Uber is looking to remedy the issue by launching UberHire, a service that lets you rent a car (and driver) for a day. The service is launching in a handful of Indian cities, including New Delhi, Mumbai and Pune, amongst others.
