  • The Vodafone-branded LG KU580

We thought the Chocolate was falling out of favor to make room for Shine, but LG apparently has at least a little more sweetness left up its sleeves. This here KU580 comes complete with Vodafone branding and flips the portrait screen of the KU800 and its stablemates on its side while offering up QVGA resolution. Features are said to include UMTS 2100, a 2 megapixel camera (meh), microSD expansion (it better!), front-facing secondary VGA cam for video calling, Bluetooth 2.0, FM radio, and 45MB of integrated memory, all to complement the typical Chocolate design elements that we've come to love / hate. Any love, Verizon?[Via Slashphone]

  • LG has shipped ten million Chocolates

LG has something to celebrate with the announcement that it has shipped its ten millionth Chocolate phone; this monumental bit of sales and marketing was accomplished 18 months after its intro in Korea and 11 months after hitting global markets. To celebrate the event, LG is handing out free handsets to anybody who hits the Chocolate page in the next hour (ok, that is a huge lie, but it would be totally cool). Everybody put their hands together for LG and wish them continued success and hope that they can repeat that choco-licious love with the Shine.

  • RM650 and RM550 RAmos DAPs get "chocolized"

    by

Fed up with the overcrowded iPod-rippin' game, RAmos has moved on to the other hotness of 2006: LG's Chocolate. And RAmos makes no bones about its "inspiration," as seen in the press shot above. At least Meizu has the modesty to deny it once in a while. Anyways, specs are pretty standard for the RM650 and RM550 players: 2.4-inch QVGA displays, 1GB to 4GB of flash memory (2GB max on the RM650), less than 0.45-inches thick, mic recording and decent codec support, including XviD. Prices range from $52 to $78, no word exactly when they'll be hitting shelves in China, and little hope for such imitation to make it to the States through any formal channels.[Via The MP3 Players

  • Telus unleashes LG 8600

Canada's been doing a respectable job keeping up with LG's Chocolate releases with both Rogers and Telus offering variants of the Korean slider; next up, Telus is rolling deep with the Chocolate flip. Known by various model names on different carriers -- all typically ending in 8600 -- Telus' version will go simply by "8600" and offer the same comprehensive music support, touch sensitive external controls, EV-DO, and strapping good looks that have brought it success elsewhere. Look for it for $130 CDN on a three-year agreement -- a harsh sentence to be sure, but hey, at least they throw in a 1GB microSD card and reader.[Via Howard Forums, thanks Jay]

  • TiVo finally gets around to releasing TiVo Mobile on Verizon

Proving that a desirable feature is better delivered late than never, TiVo has finally gotten around to releasing its TiVo Mobile remote scheduling program for select Verizon phones -- over a year after we first caught wind of the Java-based app. No real surprises here: you use Get It Now to download the application, and for $1.99 a month you get access to your Series2 or Series3 box through that familiar interface, along with special recommendation lists, popular show charts, and the always-hot "premium entertainment content." Not a bad deal considering that we once thought this would cost five bones a month, but the catch is that only certain handsets are currently compatible, including the SCH-a950, VX8300, and of course, the beloved Chocolate. Sure you could do the whole dial-a-recording before with your Pocket PC phone and Orb plug-in -- and that even lets you stream the swag you've taped -- but the more people who take the TiVo-approved route, the sooner we can put the kibosh on that nasty TiVo Deathwatch.[Thanks, Dave. As you may well know, we're a hungry bunch here at Wii Fanboy, looking for any and all ways to incorporate eating into our gaming lives (it saves time). With the advent of the Wii, we've found that no longer must we wait until an opportunity to pause before biting hard into our sandwich, as now we have a free hand to hold said sandwich while we game. It's truly a wonderful age we live in now.Anywho, as you can see above, the pictured Wiimote and nunchuk attachment have been scultped lovingly by flickr user Balakov using nothing but discarded packaging and some spare chocolate. Move over Xbox360, we got ourselves a more delicious means for controlling our games now!

If you're even considering making a late night grocery run to stock up on post-Valentine's Day chocolate sales, hold your horses. For those who just so happened to keep the original packaging from your Wiimote and nunchuck as any true geek does, or you need a delicious excuse to run out and grab another set, you're well on your way to edible nirvana. A crafty Flickr user utilized his culinary skills along with the plastic packaging that accompanied his Wii accessories in order to make molds for Wiimote / nunchuck chocolate, which look mighty scrumptious if we may so say ourselves. While we're not experts on creating our own choco bars, it has certainly been done a time or two before, so why not indulge yourself a bit with a little calorie-packed Wiimote after a vigorous round of Wii exercise, cool?

  • LG has two Windows Mobile 6 devices slated, one similar to the Prada

We don't have much information yet, but as you may have noticed, LG is now on Microsoft's official list for Windows Mobile licensees. We have it on authority that they've got two devices planned, one of which being a Windows Mobile take on their KE850 Prada Phone. Being that Microsoft mandates Windows Mobile devices require a certain minimum of hard buttons to operate, LG is working on a specially tweaked WM6 Pro interface to make their device actually usable without all those cluttering buttons. The other device LG's working on, as we understand, is something a little more Chocolate-like. More, of course, as we get it.

So you just purchased LG's newest Chocolate incarnation and you're looking for the latest accessories? The more gimmicky, the better, yeah? Look no further than you local Verizon Wireless store, my friend, as they can satisfy your craving. LG has made a deal with Hershey's Chocolate to manufacture accessories for the phone including a leather carrying pouch adorned with little Hershey Hugs. What's the next in for LG and Hershey? Maybe little Hershey Kisses look-a-like stereo ear buds?

Well, that didn't take very long, did it? Verizon has now officially added yet another hue to its stable of Chocolates, this time in a very Valentine's Day-friendly pink... er, excuse us, "Strawberry." Get it now for $100 after rebates on the standard two-year commitment.[Thanks, Perry]

Same phone, yet another color with a punny name. This time, though, the name's a bit of a stretch (come on, guys, strawberries aren't pink) and the phone is getting a little long in the tooth; good thing, then, that it only runs $99 after rebate on a two-year contract these days. Look for the latest hue to hit as a web exclusive starting February 4.[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

With his last successful chocolate creation going for a couple bucks on Ebay, his latest creation is a life-sized chocolate NES controller. Using the same chocolate as his previous creation, the NES controller is also available in much larger quantity. With a total of 49 available and the small price of $14.99 USD, anyone can get their hands on this controller. Just watch the temperature, it's liable to melt in those hands.[Via Insert Credit]

Made from only the finest Austrian chocolate and 1 out of 3 available in the world, this milk chocolate NES cartridge looks like a Nintendo fanboy's Easter basket dream. Weighing in at about 7 ounces, the current highest bid is $41.00 USD at the time of this post. Looks delicious, but is it worth the cost? If you bought it, would you plan on eating it or displaying it? More pictures have been embedded past the post break.

  • LG to bring KG208 candybar to China

    01.10.2007

There's not a plethora of details behind this one just yet, but it looks like LG plans to bring a hint of Chocolate (or least serve up a candybar) to the Chinese market with the KG208. Apparently a rather low-end handset, the device does manage to sport a 1.3-megapixel camera, MP3 / WMA / AAC music playback, 64MB of internal memory, microSD slot, and a 160 x 128 resolution TFT screen. Aside from that, we're pretty much in the dark, but we don't suspect that this one will carry a large pricetag when it purportedly lands later this month.[Via Electronista]

  • Verizon's LG VX8600 reviewed

For folks looking for a sweet new clamshell on Verizon, the choice between the Motorola K1m and the so-called Chocolate flip -- the LG VX8600 -- is a tough one. After all, they're both glossy, music-oriented pieces with touch sensitive external controls; heck, even LG agrees the similarity is a rather striking one. So how's a consumer to decide? LAPTOP Magazine recently decided to take a crack at the VX8600, coming away with a rather glowing review of the phone. Of course, Verizon's consistent (and sometimes maligned) UI experience levels the playing field significantly, but LAPTOP was pleased with the acceptable call quality, 1.3 megapixel cam's performance, the external controls, the loud (only slightly distorted) external speaker and A2DP support. In fact, they go on to sum it up by saying that "this is now our favorite V Cast phone." Of course, we're guessing there's a Moto fan or two just itching to respond in kind, but it sounds like anyone looking to pick up the Chocolatiest of clamshells won't come away disappointed.[Via I4U News]

  • The LG KE850: touchable chocolate

    12.15.2006

Little is known about the KE850 from LG, but the folks over at International Forum Design must know a thing or two about it, seeing how they just hooked it up with a Product Design Award for 2007. And hey, with those hot Chocolate-esque looks -- though we have no proof this one'll actually be branded as a Chocolate -- who can blame them? The big draw here, of course, is a 400 x 240 touchscreen that takes the place of virtually every hard button you might find on a more traditional handset, save for Send, End, and a handful of keys on the sides. The posterior reveals a cam, though its specs remain a mystery. Does someone at LG (or iF) want to spill the beans for us?[Via Slashphone]

While LG's Chocolate assortment is growing with feature-packed additions at an alarming rate, there looks to be a WinMo-powered sugar daddy headed down the pike with WiMax ready to rock. We knew Samsung and LG were using this year's ITU Telecom World conference as a launching plugging point for a few snazzy announcements, but today brings about the unveiling of a Windows Mobile 5-packin' smartphone boasting LG's Chocolate touch, built-in WiMax, a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen, two-megapixel camera, microSD slot, and Bluetooth. The phone will reportedly also support CDMA and EV-DO, and should be released in South Korea real soon -- unfortunately, there's "no word" on whether this beauty will ever see the light of day on American soil, but one can hope.[Via Slashphone]

LG's Chocolate just got a little sweeter, with the recent addition of HSDPA to that fantastic flip phone. The U830, its new designation, is loaded up with all sorts of other tasty treats, including 185MB of storage, a 2 megapixel shooter, stereo Bluetooth, three hours of talk time, 300 hours of standby time, and a music player (with 3.5mm headphones included!) -- all of this is pretty much what we'd seen rumored a few months ago. It'll first exclusively hit Hutchinson's 3 network in the UK, but we've got no further information as to when (or if) it'll be crossing the pond.[Via AVING]
