25 hottest games before Christmas
Pocket Gamer UK recently compiled a list of 25 noteworthy games coming to our beloved handheld by year's end (for British gamers, at least). If anyone says the PSP doesn't have games coming up for it, prove them wrong by showing them this incredible list. DS, Wii set to dominate the holidays
Japanese media giant Enterbrain recently surveyed retailers, as reported by Gamefront.de, about their expectations for game system sales this holiday season. We know you're not surprised, but right now? The show is all Nintendo. Retailers were asked, "Which next generation console do you think will sell better this Christmas?" The results lean heavily toward Nintendo -- 88% thought the Wii would boast better sales, and 11% settled on the PS3. We're not sure if it's worse that Microsoft wasn't even listed (perhaps because the Xbox 360 was released last year) or that Sony only garnered 11% in the poll. The Wii loses, however, when it comes to all systems ... because 60% of retailers queried thought the Nintendo DS would be the top dog of all holiday console sales. Only 32.8% chose the Wii ... and a shocking 3.3% picked the PS3.
Engadget's ultimate fake PSP collection
It's August 25th. You know what that means... only 4 months until Christmas! Better start shopping. While you could get your friends real PSPs (or even better yet: a signature edition PSP), but if you're a cold-hearted Scrooge like me, you'll much rather get them knockoffs. Sure, PSP Fanboy's shown you a few before, but Engadget has rounded up a real winner of a list here. For the price of one real PSP, you can piss off at least nine of your friends. And isn't that what the holiday spirit is about?
HD DVD has a Christmas date with Europe
And apparently, they have a plan. That idea is a bit dubious given the haphazard nature of the HD DVD US and Japan launch so far, but according to an executive from Toshiba UK, it is all under control. For the first six months they will concentrate on the typical early adopter crowd, after which they feel there will be enough available content to advertise towards mass market consumers, that HD DVD is the best way to watch the latest movies. This strategy may explain some of the questions we've had concerning their US launch, the scarcity of TV ads and the slow pace of content availability. Blu-ray is apparently launching in Europe this fall, it will be interesting to see who has titles on shelves first in that market.

Happy Holidays! Expect low posting...
Hello readers! Just wanted to wish you all a Happy Hanukah, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, a Festive Festivus, and a Super Atheisticus!* Also, I wanted to let you know that it looks like the majority of the TUAW team will be traveling over the holidays and largely in a non-posting state over the weekend, so don't be overly distressed if you don't see *tons* of content. Since Dave Caolo usually has his kids write all those posts for him (come on, like one guy could really do all that posting!), maybe even he'll be absent. In any case, don't fret. We'll be back and cranking out the regular TUAW goodness on Monday, I'm sure. Also, there is every chance that I will post multiple posts with pictures on Christmas day, bragging about all the Mac schwag I scored from Santa. w00t!*I made this one up for our heathen free-thinking readers. Feel free to use it.

Roku has brought us a product that will help bridge the generation gap. The PhotoBridge HD allows a person to turn that plasma or LCD into a work of art.
