Still no releases on the 360 or PS3 this week, but it doesn't matter. Why? Because we've got a very special guest: CID the Dummy. Our buddy CID has traveled to us from 1993 -- the last year a game about a crash test dummy would have been relevant -- to land on your Wii, PS2, PSP and PC! CID old buddy, glad you could make it! How's life under Clinton? Did you bring those Perfect Strangers VHS tapes and that Soul Asylum CD we asked for? There are a few other games you can find right after the break, none of them with the distinction of having traveled through time.

CID the Dummy, has quite possibly the most epic crash test dummy story ever told. It's set in a future world where everyone is obsessed with ... product safety, employing the limber mannequins to test everything from cars to, uh, books. It's even got mad scientists that kidnap other deranged scientists' daughters -- who doesn't love that? But wait, what does this ultimate pinnacle of crash test dummy narrative look like? We've got new images in our gallery. So go nuts. The game comes out Q1 2009.%Gallery-20591%

Ever heard of the Crash Test Dummies? Not the band, mind you, as memorable as they are. We're talking about some really old car commercials that attempted to stick some personality and human attributes into a pack of plastic dummies that got demolished in crash tests. This new PSP game is sort of like that -- CID the Dummy tells the story of a crash test dummy who gets a heart and goes off to find the lost dummy daughter of his creator. Silent Hill without people or scary stuff, really. The game is a platformer with highly interactive environments ... but you've got a bazooka armed with different flavors of pain: freeze, flame, and rubber shots to be specific. Aside from the platforming and shooting, you do get plenty of Crash Test levels where you do what dummies do: get run into a wall at high speeds. We won't pass judgment on this one until we get a look at the game itself -- second quarter of 2008.

It's pretty hard to resist a game about beating up on a hapless crash dummy, which is why we've actually bothered playing the licensed Incredible Crash Dummies game on ... well, too many platforms. Developer Twelve Interactive is reviving the idea with their new game Cid the Dummy. The new action-platformer's story reads, bizarrely, like an alternate, pun-riddled take on Astro Boy or Mega Man: Professor B.M. Werken creates a robot version of his lost daughter, who is then kidnapped by his newly evil assistant D-Troit. A crash dummy, Cid, is chosen at random to rescue her and is given a bazooka with Freeze, Flame, and Rubber Bullet ammo. The game also contains crash tests! In these bonus games, Cid attempts to get his car up to speed to crash through up to five walls and pick up bonus items.
