Now that LucasArts has officially announced a Clone Wars game for the DS, we've found out a lot more details on the upcoming Star Wars title to share with our lovely readers. For one, we know that the DS version will have its own story, despite the fact that Clone Wars is also coming to the Wii. Since the games plan to take the series in different directions, they also have different subtitles: the DS version is known as Jedi Alliance, while the software for the Wii is called Lightsaber Duels.Aside from the fact that Jedi Alliance will (obviously) utilize the touchscreen and stylus, LucasArts also boasts about the player's ability to pair up Jedi Masters and Padawans. For example, you can team up Anakin and Obi-Wan (but that seems too obvious). The more you develop the relationships between your pairs, the more powerful they'll be together. Different pair combinations will also feature different abilities, meaning that you'll have to replay some levels with new teams if you hope to unlock everything. Lastly, the game will support drop-in/drop-out wireless co-op play. All in all, it sounds like a neat little title. We only hope that it looks a little better than the screen up top -- granted, the resolution is blown up, but it didn't look so hot in its natural size, either.[Via press release]

After teasing Wii- and DS-exclusive Star Wars titles on the back of the Lego Indiana Jones manual, LucasArts has confirmed to VentureBeat that a pair of games, based on the upcoming Clone Wars animated movie and TV show, will indeed be heading to Nintendo's platforms. Players with a love of space operas and a high tolerance for clones (and colons) can look forward to playing Star Wars The Clone Wars: Jedi Alliance, a DS game from LucasArts's studio in Singapore, and Star Wars The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels, a Wii-bound, wand-waving fencing fest from Krome Studios. Both titles are expected to beam onto shelves this November. Darn, that was a Star Trek reference, wasn't it? We'll get it right next time.%Gallery-25562%%Gallery-25563%

  • Wii Lightsaber Games Episode II: The Clone Wars [update]

IGN's interview with LucasArts producer Ken Fox offers the first gameplay information (and screenshot) of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The one-on-one lightsaber fighting game, developed by Krome Studios, makes heavy use of Wii Remote motion controls to simulate swordfighting. You know, just like that other Star Wars Wii game coming out. Strangely, Fox's discussion of this new game seems to omit The Force Unleashed -- which is also a Star Wars game developed by Krome which features a duel mode. "The promise of a Wii lightsaber game has hung in the air since the Wii hit the shelves," Fox said. "We think this is the game that delivers on that promise." Sort of implies that the other one isn't going to deliver, doesn't it? Is LucasArts trying to shift focus away from The Force Unleashed? Should we be worried about its quality? We only say this because since its reveal, The Force Unleashed has been positioned as The Wii Lightsaber Game.[Update: another screen now available after the break.]]

How do Stormtroopers kick it? Well, even if they work for an evil empire, they're still people. They do things like taking a bike ride on a beautiful summer day and booting up their DS for some town maintenance. Stormtroopers, as well as other fans of all things Star Wars, should take notice that a new Star Wars title is set to grace the DS and Wii soon.Titled Star Wars: The Clone Wars, it's set in the same universe as the beloved cartoon series and movies of the same name. The new game has been confirmed via the backside of the instruction manual for upcoming title LEGO Indiana Jones.Who's anxious to play a Clone Wars game?

The back cover of the Lego Indiana Jones manual has revealed a new Star Wars game headed to Wii and DS: Star Wars: The Clone Wars. This new game will be based on the CG movie and animated series coming out later this year. It's actually the second Clone Wars game: a Clone Wars title was released for the PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube back in 2002. Of course, the new show is also the second Clone Wars TV show, because people love the prequel trilogy. In general, we hold much lower expectations for this game than the massively hyped The Force Unleashed, despite knowing nothing at all about it. For one thing, it's going to look at best like the CG Clone Wars movie, and you can see from the image above how that's working out. In addition, The Force Unleashed has been in the works for years, and seems designed with gameplay at the forefront. This ... is going to be a licensed game.

There is an upcoming CG Star Wars Clone Wars TV series coming in 2008. LucasArts must have lots of confidence in the property because their making a game based on it and Clone Wars will be their first internally developed handheld title. LucasArts Shanghai is doing the honers and has Feargus Carroll as the project lead. He previously worked on such popular games as Freedom Fighters, Black & White 2 and Battlefield: Modern Combat. If both the game and and the new TV show are as good as the previous Cartoon Network Clone Wars than I'll be a huge fan of both. [Via DCEmu]

LucasArts announced that they'll be bringing Genndy Tartakovsky's distinctive designs to "a handheld" for a game based on the animated series Clone Wars. This will be the first handheld game developed in-house by LucasArts. EA's Feargus Carroll, who boasts a record that spans everything from comedy to squad-based games, is set to helm the project. While we don't know that we'll be able to boast this title on the DS yet, as no platform has been announced, it just seems like a natural fit. We'll keep an eye on this developing story!

Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series has been added to the US iTunes Music Store [iTunes link]. I haven't seen it, but as an admitted Star Wars geek I know I should. It's priced at the usual $1.99US per episode, which seems rather odd as most of them are around four minutes long. Still, season 1 is available. Go and get it, Star Wars geeks.
