If you're one of those folks who prefers to purchase things, you know, the ol' fashioned legitimate way (as opposed to using the seedy underbelly of the internets), it looks like you'll be able to get your hands on a copy of Windows Vista earlier than the scheduled January 30 release date. Microsoft has just inked an exclusive deal with CompUSA to sell you a licensing agreement for Windows Vista Business, letting your run it on up to five computers for $300 full or $200 as an upgrade from XP. That means you'll be able to get Windows pipin' hot just as the big corporate clients will -- starting November 30th.

  • Because your Wiimote needs armor

The Wiimote is dangerous. This is undeniable; never before has a video game controller come packaged with such sheer potential for mayhem and insanity. With all that bat-swinging sword-slashing gun-firing nonsense, a few skulls are sure to crack ... and despite Nintendo best efforts (read: a wrist strap), some safety freaks might need a little extra come these holidays. Worry no more! Some recently leaked shots of some warehouse somewhere (actually, it's a CompUSA storage facility) shows off some nice controller "gloves" in a multitude of colors (pictures after the break). More intriguing, but sadly without images, is the news that Pelican will be manufacturing a "Nerf Wii Remote" and a "Nerf Nunchuk Controller Wii", as listed on amazon.com. Oh, how we long for the squishy days of yore![Thanks, Ali!]

Last week, Play-Asia had a great deal on a few imports, and now CompUSA is offering similarly cheap games that were actually released in the U.S. These deals are good instore and online, but most of the online titles are now out of stock. Also, rumors are the games actually ring up cheaper instore.Click here for a list of your nearest CompUSA's inventory blowout, then type in your zip code, select your store and proceed to spend money. The list is pretty lengthy, so check it out after the break.[Via Cheapassgamer - Registration required]

  • Truth in advertising: Compusa's I-O Data AVLP2/DVDLA "HD DVD" Player

Oh goodness. Take a look at this and tell us if you are as disappointed in Compusa as we are. On the bottom left of page 11 in their weekly sales-ad, lists a HD DVD player for only $199. Sounds like a great deal but if you do a little more research, the I-O Data AVLP2/DVDLA isn't a HD DVD player. You may remember that we covered the player a few weeks back It does, however, play both DiVX-HD and WMV-HD discs, but not standard HD DVDs. In fact, it doesn't even up-scale standard DVDs to high-def! We are sure that some over-zealous writer at Compusa miss-read the specs, but that isn't any excuse. Compusa is one the nations premier retail technolgy store and this should not have made it to printing press. So we repeat...THIS IS NOT A HD DVD PLAYER.

CompUSA is expanding their HDTV lineup with Mitsubishi. Starting on March 26th, they are going to offer three of Mitsubishi's microdisplays in the majority of their stores. The sets are already on their website - you have to search for the 1080p WD-52627. The best part though is that Mitsubishi is teaming up with CompUSA for a March Madness promotion, so you know what that means. HDTV giveaways!Check out this link for more details, but from the look of things, anyone can enter and you do not have to buy anything. Good luck!
