    A group of YouTubers is teaming up with Europe's largest trade union to lobby for greater transparency. Until recently, the YouTubers Union was a community group with little power of its own, but it has now teamed up with IG Metall, the German Metalworker's union. IG Metall is one of the oldest unions in Germany and over its lifetime has expanded to cover workers in industries including electrical engineering, IT, plastics and textiles.

    Facebook will change video ranking to prioritize original content

    Facebook wants to make it easier for filmmakers to grow their audiences and for viewers to connect with content creators. To do so, over the coming months, Facebook will change how it ranks videos. It will give more weight to videos based on their originality, intent and viewing durations. In a press release, the company said this will affect how videos are distributed across platforms like News Feed, Facebook Watch and Facebook's video recommendations.

    Well, maybe not you, exactly, but an undetermined number of content creators have received a message from Jesse Linden, stating that Linden Lab is interested in updating their current line of default avatars ' ... to better reflect the rich and diverse content available inside Second Life.' While this is a great idea, it appears that the receivers of this message are to compete for the contract, which will be paid in American dollars, rather than L$.One wonders how inclusive LL is willing to be, given exactly how diverse content tends to be in SL.
