  • The authoritative guide to making tiny Wiimotes from Model Magic

STOP! Put down that Crayola Model Magic. Read this guide from DIYLife's Victor Agreda before you attempt to fashion teensy Wiimotes out of the foamy modeling compound. Or you can just look at the pictures of his charmingly homemade, fun-size Wii controllers, embellished with markers. Victor used these to add cute touches to his Christmas gifts, but you are, of course, free to do what you like, from displaying them, to, uh ... a second use. One of our favorite things about the Internet is that there exist so many detailed guides to extremely specific things. And our pals at DIY Life are contributing to this infinite diversity in infinite combinations.

  • Show and Tell: I made it out of clay

No, not a dreidel*, but instead, a 1-up keychain! Reader Mathias sent this one in for us to show off, and it was so cute that we couldn't resist. Someone should make us a friendly keychain, since our fingers are far too slow and stupid for modeling (of any sort). And we can't help but wonder ... if you carry one of these around at all times, does it make you invincible? No? Damn, that would have been awesome.Got something you want to show off to all the other DS fans? We like just about anything with a little Nintendo flavor, so snap a few pics and send 'em off to tell us what's up, and send it all to showmeit [at] dsfanboy [dot] com. We'll take care of the rest.*Note: links to South Park anything are potentially NSFW!

  • Thank you Mario! But our fingers are kind of cold!

Normally, wearing fingerless glove things would make us feel totally tough, like Ryu or something. But with these gloves, the feeling of toughness is short-circuited by the fact that they're crocheted and have mushrooms on them. Being fans of Street Fighter, Mario, and cognitive dissonance, we enjoy the combination.Craftster forum member mynta made these comfy arm-warmy things (called, logically enough, halfgloves) based on another Craftster's knit version, which are also quite the cute little craft. They add further proof to the idea that if you can wear something, it's fair game to be tied in to video games.[Thanks, Mary!]

The life-giving properties of the 1UP mushroom should never be underestimated, so as winter begins to tighten its chilly grasp around our exposed necks, what could be better than a whole chain of the little green buggers to keep you toasty warm?Etsy user UrbanPrincess crocheted this one-of-a-kind scarf, but we fear that its $150 price tag means that she's targeting a rather limited demographic -- namely, rich Nintendo fans. Seriously, has she seen what we get paid the amount of stuff we want this Christmas?[Thanks, Sakura!]

  • Even cardboard robots like Wii

Let's face it: the Wii is the universal "awesome device." It's the kind of thing that has everyone falling in love with it once they try it, immediately inquiring as to where they can find their own and how much real life monies it will cost to procure it. It's a truly wonderful thing. Now, it would appear that making a cardboard robot and taking a couple of pictures of it holding a Wiimote wouldn't be that newsworthy. What's newsworthy about this particular piece of art is sculpted after the Revoltech Dunboard Figure and the boxes used to construct him are custom-made, as the Japanese Wii box (wow, remember when we thought we were getting different colors at launch?) very much resembles the one here for us in the United States.[Thanks, Frankie; via Hobby Blog]

  • Crafter casts Quiltaga, creates comfy tribute

StephaniePrice, the Craftster who created the beautiful Mario mushroom quilt, is at it again. Or, more precisely, she was at it twice simultaneously and has just now gotten around to posting the second quilt. This time, it's a Final Fantasy-themed creation featuring the iconic Black Mage. We love gamer quilts for the obvious reasons: we like games, and sometimes we get cold. Big pixels translate perfectly to squares of fabric, as well. We would be happy to pack something like this to keep us warm on some kind of major quest we were undertaking, although about the most epic quest we ever have is navigating the bedroom in the dark without busting our feet.[Thanks, Mary!]

  • Cases shaped like things that aren't cases at all

Gaming sites are inundated with holiday gift guides at the end of the year, listing the best and most popular games that everyone pretty much already has (or knows about). Well, we're not going in for that this year. Our gift guide will help you find the best gifts in categories the other sites won't cover -- because we just made them up.If you have a DS of any sort, you probably also look for something to carry it around in. Sure, you could drop it into a purse or pocket, but what if -- gasp -- it gets damaged? The best way to avoid that nightmare scenario is with a case, and during the holiday season, a time for giving, you can give the gift of security to a friend or loved one. And if you're going to do that, why go with something bland and boring? Take the extra step and give 'em something unique. Most of the cases we'll be featuring here are the more creative sort ... which also means you may have to break out a crochet hook, a sewing needle, or raw brain power to put one together yourself. But we have faith in you, dear reader. We're certain that you're creative and handy as well as brilliant, attractive, and totally cool. You're here, right? Yeah. High fives all around.

If, like us, you're getting ready for bed, you'll probably wish you had one of these nifty quilts to snuggle with. Hey, no one can make fun of your fandom if you only pull it out at night, after all. This quilt was posted on craftster, and the genius in question made it for a friend's son. Clearly, we need to pose as someone's child so we can get in on this kind of gifting. Any takers?

Wow. Just ... wow. That is an amazing piece of art and to think it is made from just paper. That's the kind of piece we would pay good money for, but lucky us we don't have to. See, the instructions to make our very own Thwomp (Super Mario Galaxy version) are available online. Any of you out there planning on making your own? Any of you successfully make one?[Via Go Nintendo]

Our wishes have come true! Plush-maker poisonholly must have seen how much we wanted a Wii-specific Guitar Hero stuffie, because one has appeared (like magic) at her shop on Etsy. And nothing says hardcore like plushies will skulls-and-crossbones on 'em, eh? Now you can rock out in (padded) style.

You know what your Christmas tree needs? More tongue -- and by that, we mean more Yoshi. Luckily, poorlulu of Etsy has your back; you can get all the ornamental wool tongue Yoshi that you need ... or even a Mario, if you so prefer. We do not, however, recommend that you lick or otherwise ingest the Yoshi. Wool just does not go down well.

  • Papercraft is awesome. That's one of my rules.

Using the official Capcom Phoenix Wright and Edgeworth papercrafts as a template, some brilliant artist has expanded the Phoenix Wright papercraft universe with spot-on Damon Gant and Prosecutor Godot figures. Every detail is perfect, down to Gant's weird gloves (for which he is named) and Godot's ubiquitous coffee mug (Phoenix Wright 3 spoiler: Godot enjoys coffee). It is officially time for this genius to go papercraft crazy and make templates for every character in the Ace Attorney universe, as well as a courtroom set. You know, so we can play with them display authentic recreations of our favorite scenes. Since all that ever happens is talking and pointing, these would be perfect.

  • Mega Man bosses not challenging enough?

Try making a Mega Man boss select screen in latch-hook. None of Dr. Wily's castles can compare to the endless hand-cramping nightmare of trying knots in canvas with a byzantine hook contraption. The end result is one of the coziest level menus we've seen, so we suppose the work is justified (especially since it's not our work.)The work actually represents a melange of Robot Masters from Mega Mans 2-4, with portrait borders from Mega Man 3. It was completed by Craftster user obesolete (whose Punch-Out cross-stitch was featured on Wii Fanboy) and her boyfriend. We hope their hands have recovered sufficiently to allow them to play Mega Man again.[Thanks, Mary!]

  • It's a Mario Party on a tree

More tiny Mario characters made out of clay, with loops jammed in the top! For attaching to things! The last set was identified as charms, while these are ornaments. That's totally different, right? Actually, it is, because these numerous Mario series characters are made for hanging on a tree -- perhaps a holiday-related indoor tree.If we had the time, Sculpey, and talent, we'd do this ourselves so we could remove the family memories and appropriate holiday-themed baubles with which we've decked out our own Christmas tree, and replace them with more Nintendo stuff. The Christmas tree is the one area that's not completely Nintendo-saturated yet (now that we've had that Clu Clu Land mural painted on the front of the oven.)

What's a girl to do when there's just no place to carry all those essential games? After all, a gamer on the go has to have choices -- how can you possibly leave home without Phoenix Wright or, in reader Juri's case, that beloved copy of the GBA's Harvest Moon that she just can't get away from? The answer is simple: wheedle someone else into crafting an awesome personalized game case for you, like the one seen here. Not only is it "suitably girly," but according to Juri, "the design is like a book, [so] we can add new pages in as my Play-Asia obsession continues." Clearly, she's a girl after our own hearts. Check out some other pictures of her case after the jump!Got something you want to show off to all the other DS Fans? These NES earrings are simple enough to make: rip buttons out of system, create holes (in ears and buttons), insert earring hooks. But they're also awesome. We don't know if it's because of our demonstrably terrible taste, but we think that they're both nerdy and kind of attractive in a weird way. What better way to tell the world "My NES doesn't work anymore"?You may be able to download NES games via the Virtual Console, but the experience of wearing the system can never be transmitted over the Internet. Score one for real hardware! We look forward to seeing earrings made of dead Wii power buttons in about 20 years.[Via Wonderland]

  • Tiny Nintendo charms do just that

Craftster pixidance may not have been entirely happy with these little clay charms, but we sure are. Each charm is only about half an inch in diameter, which means pixidance might want to attach them to something before they roll away and disappear forever into the dark realm of the couch or something.Bob-ombs have been popular over there lately, but who can blame Nintendo crafters? They're just so explosive.

Etsy seller lostmitten has this sweet little NES-themed business card holder that might be just what you need for that touch of flair.

If you don't love Kirby, really, you're in the wrong place. The pink puff is not only adorable, but quite capable of kicking your ass, which makes him the ultimate in versatility. Thanks to Etsy seller bettydeath, he's now on a patch as well, along with Meta Knight. Though, are we alone in worrying that Kirby might just inhale the iron while we're affixing him to some sort of fabric? We're pretty fond of that iron ....

  • Mana Princess shows off a Gift Pack for Black Friday

Our favorite WoW crafter, Mana Princess, sends word that she's updated her store for the holidays-- not only has she added some Alliance and Horde ornaments (just in time for tree setup), but she also told us about her Black Friday sale, in which she's selling a gift pack of everything you see above for just $35. It's the perfect gift for the WoW player in your life (even if that's you). And because it's in honor of Black Friday (and also her birthday), when those items are gone at that price, she says they're gone. Now, lest you think we're guilty of favoritism here, while we do like MP a lot, we do realize she's not the only WoW crafter on the block. If you've got some crafts you want to show off (whether you're selling them or not, feel free to drop us a line over on our comment form, and give us a heads up on what you're up to. We love everything WoW, and while Mana Princess makes some great stuff, we're sure she's not the only game in town.
