  • Craigslist ad hints at U-verse in Raleigh / Durham, NC

Just over a year ago, we heard that AT&T would be sinking hundreds of millions of dollars into the Carolinas in an attempt to "upgrade its fiber network, further broadband deployment, and deliver internet-based technologies to customers in North Carolina and South Carolina." Now, we're beginning to see signs of life. According to this nondescript job posting on Craigslist, AT&T is scouting residential field agents specifically for U-verse in the Raleigh / Durham, NC region. Sure, this could very well be a hoax of some strange kind, but we can't possibly be more hopeful that it's not. Hey TWC -- is this enough to get you to add a few HD channels to your absolutely abysmal selection in the Triangle?[Thanks, Jonathan]

  • Selling your iPhone

There are many iPhones and iPhone 3Gs being sold right now, and not just at Apple and AT&T Stores. If you're thinking about selling your old iPhone to get a little spendin' cash, here are some simple tips for you:Tip #1 - Pick a reasonable price. What's reasonable? Anything close to whatever other sellers are asking. A lot of 8GB iPhones are selling on eBay in the range of $325 - $450. Will you get that much? Who knows? That's the "joy" of online auctions.Tip #2 - Show 'em the merchandise. People want to know what they're getting, so always take closeup pictures of everything that's included in the sale. eBay has special rules for iPhone sales:The gist of the message? If you're selling an iPhone, put your User ID on all photos to prove you have the iPhone in your hot little hands. Sigh.Tip #3 - Don't want to sell it on eBay? You can always try Craigslist, or you can get a guaranteed price buy selling it to a broker who will turn around and probably sell it on eBay. Some of these brokers include NextWorth (buying 8GB iPhones for $202) and Rapid Repair ($150). That's not as good a deal for you, but definitely a lot less hassle than eBay. Have you sold your first-generation iPhone? Leave a comment telling us how you sold yours, and how much you made on the sale.

Want one o' them fancy new 2008 model Sidekicks before the kid down the street? Of course you do, and if you've got a particularly fat wallet on hand, you might just be able to hook that up. Some mysterious individual has popped up on Craigslist of all places, offering a prototype Gekko -- though it's "n0t [sic] f0r [sic] sale unless a Big [sic] Offer [sic] c0mes [sic]." Gotta pay to play, as they say, though you'd better get on this sweet little deal before Danger smokes out the profiteer.[Via Hiptop 3]

This is quite possibly the strangest tip we've ever received on PSP Fanboy. A Brooklyn native is looking to purchase a PSP. In exchange, he's offering his 4-foot long python. The snake is "very friendly" and even "comes w/ tank." What a steal! He's even willing to take a broken system! To take advantage of this lucrative deal and get your very own snake, click here.[Thanks, TJ!]

  • Birdwatching MMOG to bore (excite) us to death

Finally, the exciting world of birdwatching from the comfort of your PC! Craig Newmark, the cat who founded Craigslist, is hosting a remotely-controllable robotic video camera from the back porch of his San Francisco pad. Thrill seekers can log on to help discover, photograph, and classify wild birds of the Sutro Forest using CONE technology -- Collaborative Observatories for Natural Environments. CONE puts the "MM" in this MMOG by allowing a number of users to share the webcam at the same time. Players also earn points for photographing and identifying rare species. While we admit the scientific and environmental applications for this "game" are vast, forgive us if we stick to World of Warcraft for the time being. If bird watching is your bag, however, mark your 2007 Wild Birds of Alderaan Calendar for the April 23rd launch.[Via Engadget]

  • Trade your car for a PS3

Apparently, the offers to trade PS3s for Wiis on Cragislist were just the tip of the iceberg. This morning, tipster David Phillips pointed us to this interesting Craigslist listing offering a PS3 and two games for "a car or parts and labor on my jeep." A quick search finds a couple of other listings offering up a PS3 in exchange for a new ride or money to fix an existing ride. There are also some postings going the other way, offering a 1987 Volkswagon Golf, a 1991 Mazda Protege and even a 1968 Ford Falcon in exchange for a PS3 or other electronics. Apparently entertainment is more important than mobility for some traders, which got us wondering what else people would be willing to give up for Sony's super-system. Food? Shelter? Warmth? First born? What would you give up for a PS3?

  • Craigslisters trading PS3 for Wii + money

Jason McMaster over at GigaGamez has noticed an interesting trend in new generation system listings on popular classified site Craigslist. Apparently, dozens of posters are looking to trade their PlayStation 3s for a Wii and some extra spending cash.A quick scan of the trade offers in the San Francisco area shows that most of the offers are looking for a Wii and roughly $350 in exchange for their PS3. Others are looking to trade their Sony system for two Wiis or offering slightly more ludicrous exchanges. There are also some listings offering to trade their Wiis for a PS3, but not nearly as many came up in our searches. What's motivating all these trading offers? McMaster theorizes the traders are completists looking to dump a second Sony system for a hard-to-find Wii or single owners disappointed with the PS3s lackluster lineup. For some, though, the explanation is a simple misunderstanding: "I made a grand mistake in getting my kids a gift for xmas. I thought they wanted a ps3, but rather they wanted a wii." There's no need to argue, parents just don't understand.[Via Guardian GamesBlog]

Is it a joke, or a guild leader's dream? This ad appeared on Chicago's Craiglist classifeds in the "women seeking men" section.Someone out there is a 60 Troll Priest looking for a troll or orc "Warrior, Rogue, or Shaman to fight in honor for Thrall in the lands of Azeroth." Apparently her parents wouldn't approve of a cow or corpse. But she does claim to have a black war raptor, and has hobbies like disenchanting "useless garments."So if "slaying of self-righteous paladins and squishy gnomes" is your thing, drop the anonymous email a note. She might just be making fun of you-- or it might be Epic (or even Legendary) love (that's a +12 spirit drop!).Just in case Craigslist thinks it's a joke and deletes the ad, I've reprinted it in full after the jump.

Earlier this morning we received word that a pair of E3 badges was being auctioned on eBay. According to our tipster, the starting bid was $300. Unfortunately, the auction was pulled before we could get a look. However, moments ago, we were tipped off by another reader who had discovered a similar sale on craigslist. As it turns out, it's the same pair of badges, now being offered for $1,000! Here's the post:"I have a pair of E3 Badges I am selling. I had these posted on Ebay but the ESA pulled the auction. Purchasing these will get you onto the show floor of E3 2006. My manager and I will fly down to L.A. and pick up the badge holders with our ID's. You will not have to show ID at any point from there on out. Our travel expenses are included in the badge price. The pair of badges is $1000 obo. Please email me with any questions. Thanks. "What's a chance to be the first on your block to see the PS3 and Revolution in action worth to you and a friend?[Thanks, T & Eric]
