Yesterday we brought you some details on the PlayStation 3 debut of Devil May Cry. Now, we bring you the news that Capcom is planning to deliver this successful franchise to the PSP. CVG has noticed that on the Japanese site for Capcom, there is a note about bringing Dante and company to Sony's little handheld. The only information given is that the game will be in the "stylish action" genre of gameplay. Tomorrow, the countdown on the DMC teaser site ends, so maybe we'll get more info by then. But, until that time, feel free to speculate.

Capcom announced intentions of bringing Dante to the PSP a long, long time ago. Since then, we haven't even heard a murmur of a PSP version of Devil May Cry. Well, according to Jeux France, our fears can be rested: Devil May Cry for PSP will be coming. No new details were revealed, but the website has detailed scans from Famitsu of the upcoming PS3 sequel, Devil May Cry 4: The Awesomeness.(Disclaimer: That subtitle's not real. It's what I like to call a "joke.")

  • Devil May Cry 4 -- forgive the fanboy excitement

"From that day forth... my arm changed... and a voice echoed. Power -- Give me more power!"This isn't quite a rant, more of an excited boy getting geared up for one of his favorite gaming franchises. The Devil May Cry 4 teaser site is active and is promising something will happen in seven days. No, not a mysterious call from a little girl who brings your life to an end. At least, we hope not. What could happen? A full-blown gameplay trailer (since it's going to be playable at TGS, those of us who can't attend would like to see the game in action)? Some sort of contest? Just a looping image of Dante laughing at us?From the quote at the top of the page, is it safe to assume this latest entry in the series takes place after the events of Devil May Cry 2? This blogger's memory of that game's story is fuzzy at best. The third one completely erased any sort of images from the mind. Either it takes place after the second, or could it be the story of the legendary Sparda? Though the character shown at last year's E3 looked a lot like Dante. Maybe his brother? Ahh, the excitement. Hopefully the difficulty will remain medium-to-high. No one wants the cakewalk like DMC2.

Capcom has released a third trailer for God Hand, a project that boasts such talent as Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami as director and Viewtiful Joe creator Atsushi Inaba as producer. The new footage features some outrageous ass kicking, including groin assaults, spanking, homerun swings, and an exploding body. Sprinkle a dash of clever, but campy dialogue into the mix and you've got the ingredients for a classic. If God Hand is any indication, the best Sony console to own this holiday season is still gonna be PlayStation 2. Continue on to view the trailer...

Capcom has confirmed that God Hand is currently in development for the PS2 in Japan. While a company rep declined to give further details about the title and the possibility of its release outside of Japan, JeuxFrance.com claims that God Hand will be an action title crafted under the guidance of Shinji Mikami (director) and Atsushi Inaba (producer). Both Capcom vets have impressive resumes, which could lead to a successful formula. Inaba has produced the Viewtiful Joe series, as well as Okami (due in September). Mikami's work also includes Viewtiful Joe, along with Devil May Cry and Capcom darling, Resident Evil.

  • Capcom and Ubisoft partner to port to PC

As suspected, Capcom's mega-hit Resident Evil 4 will be making its way, from its roots on the Gamecube and subsequently the PS2, to the PC. It's not going alone though: Capcom's Onimusha 3 and Devil May Cry 3 will be along for the ride, and Ubisoft will be handling the distribution of all three titles. Hopefully the games will enjoy a high-res makeover before their release, instead of standard-definition ports with PS2 textures. Here's the part where both companies gush about how thrilled -- errr, apologies, it appears they are both excited, not thrilled -- to be working with one another on this historic event. Ubisoft: "Ubisoft is excited to be bringing three of the industry's most innovative titles, including Resident Evil 4... to PC gamers around the world." Capcom: "Capcom is excited to be taking advantage of Ubisoft's global distribution network to deliver our hottest titles for gamers around the world to play and enjoy," This can be roughly translated the following way: A corporate boardroom. Afternoon. Two anthropomorphised corporations sit across a meeting table; their hands almost touching, their eyes locked. UBISOFT: I'm so excited! Think about it: your games, my distribution. We're perfect for each other. CAPCOM: No, I'm way more excited to be working with you! You're French... and sophisticated. UBISOFT: You're sweet, but really, I'm soooo excited. I can't wait to get your games out to gamers to game with all around the world. CAPCOM: I'm excited infinity plus one! [Thanks, JamesO]

  • A special edition of Devil May Cry 3 to be shown at TGS?

The Japanese web site for Enterbrain (publisher of respected Japanese game-mag Famitsu) reportedly contains an "announcement" that Capcom will be revealing a new Devil May Cry game at the Tokyo Game Show later this week. The news comes from an update to a contents page for the next Famitsu Wave DVD, which will contain many new trailers from the upcoming show. Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition will apparently have such a trailer ready for TGS, even if the game itself won't be made available in playable form (which remains unconfirmed). The biggest question here is which platform the souped-up version of Dante's Awakening will eventually come out for. Like the international editions of previous games like Final Fantasy X, DMC3:SE could very well end up on the PS2 once more, but it would be a great coup to see the Sony-exclusive series finally make its debut on the Xbox, GameCube, or even the Xbox 360, as DMC4 has already been announced for the PS3. (Gotta love that trailer.) [UPDATE: DMC3:SE will be coming to PS2s (drat!) with the addition of Vergil as a fully playable character, a new "very hard" difficult mode, and a "demo digest" option to watch all those pretty cutscenes (without having to kill yourself replaying the game). Thanks, Alex C!] We would point you to the page directly, but we can't read Japanese. Any help here from our so-enabled readers? Translations with further details are always welcome.
