Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Collector's Edition content revealed
With all the talk of Warlords of Draenor and Hearthstone around here, you might have forgotten about Blizzard's other expansion release next month. Diablo III: Reaper of Souls makes it debut on March 25, and the contents of the physical Collector's Edition were finally revealed earlier this week for all to see. Purchasers of the Collector's Edition will receive several digital items, including the Treasure Goblin Pet for World of Warcraft, StarCraft II character portraits and Malthael Decals, and a Spectral Hound minion with a set of aesthetic artifacts -- helms and weapons -- to be used with Diablo III's new transmogrification feature. Of course, this is all available with the Digital Deluxe version of the game as well, so why would you want a physical Collector's Edition? In addition to the digital goodies found in the Digital Deluxe edition, those purchasing the Collector's Edition will get a Behind-the-Scenes DVD and Blu-Ray two-disc set featuring interviews, round-table discussions and behind-the-scenes commentary on the game's development, the official Reaper of Souls soundtrack, The Art of Reaper of Souls -- a gorgeous hardcover book featuring early sketches, artwork, and 3D renders from the game, as well as a Malthael mouse pad. The Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Collector's Edition is available for pre-order on Amazon for $79.99, as well as at a variety of other retailers. As with all Collector's Editions, supplies are limited -- if you want the physical version and all the bonuses it has to offer, you may want to pre-order your copy sooner rather than later.

Update: As some of our readers have pointed out, most of the information regarding the collection has been revealed. Looks like we missed it due to our excitement. We blame that on the hours we've spent perfecting our Deckard Cain fan fiction. UK retailer Game has listed the contents of the Diablo 3 collector's edition, or as Blizzard is billing it, "The Ultimate Diablo 3 Experience." This obviously makes the standard edition a "subultimate" experience, which is almost as cool as the "submarine" experience, which involves buying the collector's edition for the sole purpose of taking bubble baths with the Diablo Skull figurine and the rest of its special contents: Diablo 3 PC/Mac Game Behind the scenes DVD and Blu-Ray Two Disc Set Collectors Edition Soundtrack The Art of Diablo 3 Diablo Skull and 4GB USB Soulstone Diablo 3 Aesthetic Artifacts (in-game) World of Warcraft pet (in-game) Starcraft 2 Battlenet Portraits (in-game) Buying the Diablo 3 collector's edition can also snag you four free months of World of Warcraft, if you've been a player since Oct. 18, at least. Blizzard announced so many deals, expansions and Pokemon things yesterday that there was bound to be some confusion. Today at a Q&A panel, Diablo 3 developers clarified the meta-deal it has with World of Warcraft's annual pass -- purchasing the Diablo 3 collector's edition adds four free months to the World of Warcraft annual pass timeframe. We knew buying the annual pass gets existing WoW players Diablo 3 for free, but it turns out the feeling is mutual. To be completely clear, to get Diablo 3 for free, you must: Have a WoW account existing on or before Oct. 18, 2011 Purchase the WoW annual pass Enjoy your free standard version of Diablo 3, available at launch on your Battle.net account To get four months of WoW for free, you must: Purchase the Diablo 3 collector's edition Have a WoW account existing on or before Oct. 18, 2011 Purchase the WoW annual pass Enter the Diablo 3 collector's edition license key into your associated Battle.net account Enjoy a grapefruit Maybe not that last one, but you should check the annual pass FAQs just to be sure.
