What we're watching: The game of the century.#1 vs. #2. Texas vs. USC.Rose BowlI've barely been able to sleep at night as visions of Vince Young, Reggie Bush and Matt Leinhart danced through my head and finally the day is here. I'm leaning towards Texas in an upset because I think they have a better defense than USC has seen so far. But if Reggie Bush and Matt Leinhart (and Lendale White) are half as good as they have seemed all season, it's really impossible to call. There is nothing else worth watching tonight, the two best teams are playing, be there and in HD. After the jump is our traditional listing of HD programs throughout the night.

What we're watching: I'm watching the game man! Two old school coaches squaring off in the Orange Bowl tonight on ABC. Bowden vs. Paterno. I also look forward to seeing more of Penn State's QB Michael Robinson, a threat running or passing the ball.If you don't like football, there's always Man on Fire on HBO at 9:30 p.m. starring Denzel Washington. I wish I could recommend one of my favorite comedies, Scrubs, but it's NOT IN HIGH DEFINITION DUE TO THE HEARTLESS BASTARDS AT NBC *takes a breath*. What we're watching: It's pick a movie night; two are so-so (but good for HD) and one is an Oscar winner. For the "thin-plot, thick-HD" you can choose between "Sphere" on HDNet Movies at 7:45 p.m in 1080i or "Vertical Limit" on Fox at 8 p.m. in 720p. I've seen both of these and while they would be good for a high-def set, I'll go with the Oscar Winner. "Ray" won two Oscars and I haven't seen it yet. Jamie Foxx won accolades for his uncanny realistic portrayal of Ray Charles, so he gets my vote. I'll tune in to HBO-HD for "Ray" at 6:15 p.m. in 1080i.Don't forget that "In Justice" premieres tonight on ABC at 10 p.m. in 720p. This looks like a real tear-jerker of a show, but could be a solid mid-season kickoff. After the jump is our traditional listing of HD programs throughout the night.

What we're watching: The quiet season continues though the holidays, making it tough to find fresh new high-def content. Tonight we're going to make a choice at the last minute between peaceful bliss or brute force at 8 p.m.For those that want to relax at 8 p.m., tune in to INHD2 for an IMAX presenation of "The Living Sea" in 1080i. Underwater scenery just blows me away on a high-quality HDTV set that's properly calibrated. The rough crowd can flip one notch away over at INHD for some heavyweight boxing. David Tua takes on Cisse Calif in this 10-rounder from Hollywood, Florida. If you watch this one, just be sure to pronounce Calif's first name properly; he doesn't like being called a "sissy." After the jump is our traditional listing of HD programs throughout the night.

What we're watching: "Clarisse....Clarisse...you do love HDTV, don't you, Clarisse?" When you take a great movie like "Silence of the Lambs" and then add the high-definition aspect to it, you just can't pass it up. Well, maybe you can, but we can't. We're turning down all the lights in the house at 8:15 p.m. and heading over to HDNet Movies for a 1080i presentation of this 1991 award winning movie. This is another one of those flicks that help you check those contrast and brightness levels as some of the darker scenes push HDTVs to the limit. After the jump is our traditional listing of HD programs throughout the night.

What we're watching: Is it just us or is good high-def programming hard to come by at the tail end of the year? Although the movie was so-so, we're going to tune in to 1996's "Twister" on TNT-HD at 10 p.m. tonight. The special effects actually look solid in HD and there's a little nostalgia involved also. While the industry bickers over the next high-def DVD format, "Twister" gets a nod as one of the very first movies ever available on DVD. After the jump is our traditional listing of HD programs throughout the night.

What we're watching: Nothing new on primetime, but you can catch up on some good high-def episodes if you missed them the first time around. Catch a high-def Easter Egg on "My Name is Earl" at 9 p.m if you didn't see it last month. The 1080i broadcast is on NBC and is the episode where Earl's father (Beau Bridges) runs for Mayor. If you can't be bothered looking for Easter Eggs, maybe the guest stars on "Boston Legal" will get you all hot and bothered. A two-hour repeat episode kicks off at 9 p.m. on ABC in 720p. Tune it to catch Heather Locklear and Rupert Everett in this rebroadcast. If you absolutely must have something new-ish to watch, we're recommending HDNet's "World Report: Best of 2005". Ok, that's really a summary of repeats, but it should still be excellent. Tune in at 8 p.m. for the three-hour episode in 1080i. After the jump is our traditional listing of HD programs throughout the night.

What we're watching: Sing it with me: "All I want for Chrismas is no more repeats, no more repeats, no more repeats..."; no Alvin, Simon and Theodore couldn't have sung it better. Unfortunately, it's a slow time of the year for new programming. We'll give you a choice, depending on your sports preferences. If you're into NHL Hockey, tune in to INHD at 8 p.m. for a 1080i presentation of the NHL on OLN (on INHD; don't ask). Tonight's game takes place in St. Louis where the Stars take on the Blues. If you prefer the NFL, you can catch ABC's last Monday Night Football game tonight at 9 p.m. The game between the Patriots and Jets is a real yawner; the better part of the broadcast is expected to be the various highlights over the last 36 years from MNF as it moves to EPSN next year. We take our helmets hats off to three-and-a-half decades of great Monday Night Football on ABC; the high-def presentations over the past several years were fantastic. After the jump is our traditional listing of HD programs throughout the night.

What we're watching: I wish there was some good high-def Christmas programming to tell you about, but it's slim pickin's tonight. The closest I can do for you is 1998's "I'll Be Home for Christmas" on ABC at 9 p.m. in 720p. By that time, my kids will be in bed; not asleep of course, it's Christmas Eve! They will be in bed, so I'll be watching one of my favorites in high-definition: "Gladiator". No, that won't get me in the Christmas spirit, but boy if that isn't a great movie in 1080i! Feel free to get those last minute gifts wrapped early and join me at 8 p.m. onTNT-HD. Ok, so maybe I'll have to send the kids to bed an hour earlier... After the jump is our traditional listing of HD programs throughout the night.

What we're watching: With so many good HD shows on lately, it's been a while since I just kicked back and went with one of the standards. Gaming in high-def has nothing to do with my missing good HD television; I swear it! Ok, maybe a little...Anyway, I'm making up for it tonight by catching good ol' "CSI: New York" at 10 p.m. on CBS. The CSI franchise is one of the longer running 1080i programs and aside from good plots, the high-def detail and the sound is stunning!Obligatory poll reminder: Don't forget to vote in our weekly poll: we're asking you for feedback on these daily program posts!
