  • Too Human gets cover treatment in May's EGM

Turns out those small shots of Too Human that we linked to last week were from a print mag, May's issue of EGM to be precise. Silicon Knights' upcoming title -- part of a planned trilogy and one of the much anticipated "second-wave" of 360 games -- gets some real VIP treatment, with a dozen pages of coverage, including the cover and the table of contents. Super fansite TooHuman.net got their hands on high-res scans of the entire spread but, as to be expected, were asked by the powers that be to remove them. They are still hosting the low-res camera shots ... though I'm going blind trying to read that text.

  • EGM to confirm Pilotwings sequel for the Revolution?

Speak Dutch? If not, then the link isn't going to mean much to you aside from the sporadic words of Revolution and Pilotwings. Apparently they are saying the latest issue of EGM confirms that a sequel to the series is to appear on the Revolution, yet photographic proof of such is scarce. Now if any of our readers found some snapshots and would like to share, that would be most appreciated. Some of the parts that create the sum of the Pilotwings experience would be an interesting fit for the Revolution control scheme as skydiving and pilotting a bi-plane through rings would be a difficult challenge to adapt to the remote. We're confident that if this rumor is true, Nintendo will not only do it, but do it so well it'll literally impress your pants right off of your body, fold them neatly, and tuck them away into a drawer.[Via Go Nintendo][Update: Dutch looked very German to me, but thanks to the wonderful readers, I've been corrected.]

  • New Super Mario Bros. releasing May 15th (again)

It seems our earlier report of the game being pushed back to May 21st, which stated as much directly on the game's website, was false and the game's site is now displaying the previous release date, that of May 15th. Considering the recent EGM scan confirming a DS Lite launch stateside this May, we're thinking the Lite could launch over here now as early as May 15th! [Thanks Jason C!] [Update: Fixed a minor date mistake. Thanks for the correction Bennet McLean!]

  • Rumor: Mario Paint on the DS

1up editor Luke Smith recently posted about some tastey morsels that'll be running in the May issue of Electronics Gaming Monthly. Of these morsels, the tastiest to DS Fanboy readers (and Bloggers) is a rumor that the DS could be seeing an adaptation of the beloved SNES title Mario Paint.  Considering how accessible the DS is to people who aren't hardcore gamers and the recent success Brain Training has enjoyed on the handheld, the idea of a Mario Paint game hitting the DS is a great idea. Using the stylus to swat flies would be too much fun!

  • Rumor: Final Fantasy XIII PS3 exclusive at E3

According to 1UP, the May issue of EGM contains a rumor that Final Fantasy XIII will be showing up at next month's E3 for "a brief teaser video and confirmation from [Square Enix] that the RPG will be a PS3 exclusive." RPG fans, rejoice! What's a little shocking is that FFXIII would be unveiled before FFXII is even released outside Japan, but "rumblings" have apparently also been picked up that "Final Fantasy XIII is practically close to being finished" already. With all the delays to XII, it's certainly more than possible that a second team working on XIII's already got something to show by now.It wasn't exactly surprising that FFXIII would show up as a PS3 exclusive--despite certain misquotes to the contrary--but you know that a new Final Fantasy is just what the next PlayStation needs (judging by how previews of FFX elevated the PS2's platform profile). Hopefully this little tidbit isn't EGM's way of stretching its April Fools' coverage to another issue (and another month).[Thanks, Spatlase Disexia]

  • Rumor: game based on TV's Lost this fall for consoles

EGM's April 2006 issue sports a short entry under its monthly Rumor Mill section telling readers to expect a Lost video game this fall for unspecified consoles. The Q also claims that the playable adaptation will "even feature an online multiplayer mode called something like 'Passengers versus The Others.'" Predicting possible genres is sketchy at this point, but one could imagine modes such as Capture the Hatch, Pregnant Woman Rescue, and Team Freak-out popping up like a season or two's stranded passenger hallucinations. (Then again, maybe not...)

  • Battlefield 2142 scans of PC Gamer cover story leaked

The Battlefield 2142 hoopla is starting to look more and more real as scans of the PC Gamer issue in question have surfaced online with BF 2142 featured as the magazine's May cover story. Digg contributor Iced_Eagle has pointed us to an 8.5MB archive of images from the mag, with 9 pages concerned with 2142 and 2 pages having to do with Half-Life 2: Episode 1. If you're interested in knowing "where your unstoppable 20-foot Mech is," then you'd best get to that reading online or off ASAP. For those still skeptical of any gaming news outlet coming out with such a story in the general vicinity of April Fools' Day, keep in mind that the game appears to not only be the magazine's cover story, but that its coverage also fills up all those pages of print mentioned earlier. EGM merely dedicated a single page with a brief line in the table of contents to its Apple iGame prank this year, so this would seem like a lot of effort on PC Gamer or some extremely dedicated Photoshopper's part to fool the gaming public. Will this fall prove to be the point when the BF franchise finally frags in the future? At this point, it would certainly seem so. Read on for further details about the game; the cover pic links to the scans.
