  • WoW Moviewatch: I, for one, welcome our new Highlord Kruul

If you missed it earlier, Highlord Kruul is running wild in the major cities (and killing our most beloved friends). If you haven't seen him yet, he's amazing. Here he is rocking the Eastern Plaguelands (for a minute or so anyway, vid cuts out halfway through). Zeroen from Daggerspine has posted a nice pictoral guide to Highlord Kruul (it's not what you think), and a few servers have already dropped him. A few players mentioned that he has been heard asking for "shards"-- what does that mean? And finally, since I love all the BC teaser stuff so far, Tseric says perhaps the event isn't over yet... perhaps.

Brick builder Mandalore has snapped together a surprisingly accurate depiction of one of Halo's Elites. He was even kind enough to put together a guide so that we can assemble them on our own. Nice work.Think Bungie and Lego Group would ever consider collaborating?[Via Xbox 360 Fanboy]

Halo.bungie.org got word from Mandalore that he has finally perfected his Lego version of the Halo Elite. The Lego mini-fig is well constructed and even includes a make-shift sword to pwn all those noobs. Any fanboys out there ritually play ... I mean build with Legos and create some video game inspired work? We'd love to see someone create Viva Piñata, Gears of War, or even Geometry Wars inspired creations. Be creative, get building, and send them in![Via HBO]

  • Shuttle XPC goes 1337 with custom-painted SDXi gaming rig

Flame jobs on a PC most certainly aren't new, but we fear it's a fad that will always burn on in some regard, and its companies like Shuttle that keep on fanning it. While the rectangular-shaped box has made its way into a many of homes, gamers looking for some serious horsepower in a mobile rig can find a quite a potent system in the firm's forthcoming 1337 SDXi series desktops. While all the specifics aren't nailed down quite yet, the machine will boast an Intel X8600 or QX6700 quad-core processor, liquid-cooling system, unmistakable custom-paint job on the case, keyboard, and mouse, ATIs X1950 Pro CrossFire graphics cards, support for up to 8GB of DDR2 RAM, gigabit Ethernet, and a hint of that early 90s vibe to boot. Unfortunately, such a flashy rig sports an equally stunning pricetag, as these bad boys will be "starting" at $4,999 when they land later this month.[Thanks, Marshall W.]

Looks like Nintendo loves seeing people make an ass out of themself dancing because, in celebration of Elite Beat Agents, they're holding a contest asking that you send in a video of yourself, along with two friends, dancing along to the theme of Elite Beat Agents. Sounds simple enough, right? You might be asking yourself what exactly you'd win for dressing up and acting the fool on camera, and it turns out Nintendo thinks that 3 DS Lites (Polar, Coral and Onyx), 3 copies of Elite Beat Agents and 3 'Secret Agent Kits' including headphones and a t-shirt are about the right price. So what do you guys think? Good enough prize to cause you to dress up and shake it on film?

Elite Beat Agents made us realize that the general stigma male cheerleaders have on them is completely false. Turns out, male cheerleaders are even more awesome than we thought! Honestly, if we had a group of them that were anything like the Elite Beat Agents, we would find getting up in the morning to do our usual routine much more fun. With their help, washing dishes, going to class, brushing your teeth and flipping burgers would be twenty times more exciting. You can tell we have really thought about this. There are two new Elite Beat Agent videos to get us even more pumped up about this game -- as if their Flock of Seagulls hair isn't enough to be happy about already. Pioneer is showing three new Elite PureVision plasma HDTVs during CEDIA 2006, the 42-inch PRO-940HD, 50-inch PRO-1140HD and 60-inch PRO-1540HD models may not bring the 1080p of the PRO-FHD1 but they have a bevy of new features to make up for it. Their color filtering, color zone mapping and improved phosphor technology are all part of the package to help color and image quality, as well as the crystal emissive layer for better contrast. These plasmas are also the first to include Pioneer's Home Media Gallery support, with built-in Ethernet and USB ports to allow home users to stream music, videos and pictures directly from a DLNA compliant PC or other device in HD quality. They include Microsoft PlaysForSure DRM support, as well as the MPEG-1, WMV9 and MPEG-2 codecs. CableCard slot and NTSC/ATSC tuners are onboard, plus dual HDMI (1080p/24hz) inputs, two component inputs, PC input and RS-232C support. The 42-inch PRO-940HD has integrated bottom speakers while the 50- and 60-inch TVs feature detachable side speakers. The 42-inch is 1024x768 resolution with an MSRP of $4,000, while the PRO-1140HD (pictured above) and PRO-1540HD both have 1365x768 resolutions and are priced at $5,500 and $8,000 respectively. All are now available and shipping.

Have you ever gotten home from a long day at the office, stared at the sink full of dishes and just wished there was someone, nay, some team of particularly motivating and inspirational folk that could help skyrocket your self-esteem? Have you ever hoped there could be those available to cheer you on as you make your way to victory loading the last dish into your dishwater, adding detergent, and finally, with authority, slamming the unit's door closed to be rewarded with the soft whir of the machine's cycle startup? Well, then you might want to consider moving to Japan and looking these guys up, because that is the only way it will happen.Video has been embedded into the post after the break.

  • Pioneer now shipping the Elite PureVision PRO-FHD1 1080p plasma

Pioneer's much anticipated 50-inch Elite PureVision PRO-FHD1 1080p plasma is now shipping to retailers, they announced yesterday. Complete with 2,073,600 .576 mm-sized pixels and a high quality scaler this is the first 50-inch 1080p plasma screen on the market. The MSRP of $10,000 (retail around $8,000) comes in at around twice the price of the merely 1080p-compatible PDP-5070HD 1366x768 HDTV. Also unlike its value-priced cousin, this doesn't come with any tuners, just the (beautiful) screen with 3000:1 contrast ratio, and 1000cd/m2 peak brightness as well as two HDMI rear inputs, one DVI and one component input. They're touting the effect of all that pixel density as creating a near-3D effect that you just can't get with other TVs, and even without one here to view, we're almost inclined to believe them.Do you think all those extra pixels and true-1080p display for your Blu-ray (or HD DVD) and other high definition content are worth the extra cost?

K1lla's Xbox Domain interviews TheGrayWolf about the awesome burden of maintaining  the highest gamerscore in the US of A (Currently 42,921). Getting there required the usual combination of obsessive play and obscure Japanese titles, plus some torturous hours with FIFA World Cup 2006. Surprisingly, TheGrayWolf says he wouldn't mind if Microsoft reset all scores to zero. Such is the pressure of being on top.According to the Wolf, current overall champ RANCE6 has notified his friends list that he will be retiring soon, so the top spot could be in US hands soon.

RANCE6, aka Alessandro from Italy, tells Xboxic how he managed his globe-leading GamerScore of 39,430 points. Owning a video game store with access to Japanese titles, and having the time/energy/will to game 12 plus hours a day seems to be key:Nino: How much do you play to get so many achievements?Alessandro: About 12 – 16 hours per day. But I have to calm down in the following weeks, I'll slow down to about 5 – 10 hours per day. I'm waiting for Japanese games to come out.Nino: Wow, 5 – 10 hours per day is still sick, do you play at work?Alessandro: Yeah in the morning particularly. I can play 4 hours in the morning, 5 in the evening and about 3 – 5 during the night.Color me impressed -- with his girlfriend, if he still has one. RANCE6 marks 50 hours spent on a single achievement in Zoids as his greatest feat. He also says he gets 30 - 40 friend requests per day, mostly asking how he gets the NTSC-J stuff. Nobody ever said XBL celebrity came without the pressures of fame.

  • Elite Modeling's eML1 Elitephone

Ah, Elite Modeling, one-time home to such high-end faces as Tyra Banks, Claudia Schiffer, Gisele Bündchen, Cindy Crawford, and Engadget Mobile's all-time favorite Blackberry warrior, Naomi Campbell. Well, guess who made a phone for the Dutch. That's right, the Elite Modeling eML1 Elitephone doesn't only carry a killer byline ("A mobile for models by Elite Model Look!" -- no comment), it also features a "mini and sexy clamshell" (we can't tell if they mean the phone or its case), 6 Elite model wallpapers to remind you of your own bodily imperfections, VGA camera, 160 x 128 internal display, and GPRS data. But oh, the irony of such a modeling agency not only producing a cellphone -- which is just a crappy Korean device that's been knocking around for a coupla years (a Newgen, if we're not mistaken) -- but making that phone one of the chubbier, rounder devices on the market. In fact, if anything we would have expected Elite to badge the RAZR or one of the countless brand-name fashionphones, and let the chubby, homely handheld be the 1337phone instead.[Via Textually and Slashphone]
