  • Tom Clancy's EndWar invades DS, PSP on Nov. 4

Fans eager to engage in some voice-activated, real-time strategy on their favorite handheld systems ... will have little interest in the rest of this post! Ubisoft has detailed the PSP and DS versions of Tom Clancy's EndWar -- both of which launch alongside their bigger console brothers on November 4th -- and made it apparent that warmongers on the go are in for a markedly different experience.Developed by Funatics Software, the portable pair presents "turn-based strategy with a twist," allowing simultaneous move and attack phases which render the experience as intense and authentic as real-time strategy -- it says here. Other relevant features include three campaigns, over 20 units per faction, a two-player versus multiplayer mode, a mission editor, stylus controls on the Nintendo DS and, judging by the screenshots, somewhat less realistic graphics. Who knew advanced wars could be so colorful?%Gallery-34915%%Gallery-34916%

Ubisoft is bringing yet another Tom Clancy game to the handhelds. This time, EndWar is getting the PSP treatment. The upcoming game takes place during World War III. Players take control of the U.S. Joint Strike Force, European Enforcers Corps or Russian Spetsnaz Guards Brigade in three separate (but intertwined) campaigns. Each campaign includes over 30 battle scenarios taking place on real-world battlefields including Paris and London.EndWar also features two-player versus multiplayer mode, including additional missions specifically designed for multiplayer battles. There's also a mission editor, which allows players to share and create custom battlefields and scenarios. Expect EndWar on November 4th.%Gallery-34905%

  • Tom Clancy's EndWar demo deployed on Xbox Live

If you read our E3 hands-on of Tom Clancy's EndWar, you'd know that we were rather surprised by how well the real-time strategy game's voice commands worked. Rather than function as a vector for our usual hate speech and bigotry, the Xbox 360 headset could now allow us to command our armies from afar and pick fights by proxy. It's just how we envisioned the future of warfare, minus the odd laser or two.You don't have to take our word for it, though, as Ubisoft has announced that a public demo is now available on the Xbox Live Marketplace. The sampler includes a single-player tutorial, as well as a one-on-one multiplayer map with matchmaking support. Let us know if it manages to command your attention.EndWar is out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 4th.

While some lucky gamers have been enjoying the EndWar demo for some time now, it's finally the rest of the public's turn to try out Ubisoft's voice controlled real time strategy title. The demo includes both single player and online multiplayer, so there should be plenty for everyone. We gave the demo a quick try and the voice control is definitely cool, although we have to admit it's a bit confusing at first. Of course, the demo doesn't really lay out every voice command, though there is a limited tutorial of sorts (you might want to look at this video for some pointers). Still, the voice control is surpisingly efficient. For those of you out there who have tried it, what do you think so far?

Here are the Trophies for Tom Clancy's EndWar. The RTS game places you in 2020 during World War III. You can play as three factions: the Russian Spetsnaz Guards Brigade, the European Federation Enforcers Corps and the United States' Joint Strike Force. Sounds like typical Tom Clancy fare to us. The game will be out November 4th in the US and the 7th in Europe. View Trophy List | Visit Trophy Portal

Embedded above and after the break are three new in-game videos from the little voice controlled war RTS called Tom Clancy's Endwar. And the game actually looks pretty decent, if you're into war, RTS games, things that are voice controlled or stern, military sounding women's voices. Check out the vids and share your brutally honest opinion of Endwar and its voice controls.

Attention future squad commanders. The latest UbiSoft title with Tom Clancy's name stamped on its cover -- Tom Clancy's EndWar -- is nearly upon us and the folks at The U (aka UbiSoft) have seen fit to offer a training program for very special members of the platoon. So to recap in English. An exclusive demo of Tom Clancy's EndWar will be available for those who pre-order the title at their local GameStop. Are you one of the crazy people who assumes you are able to walk into a game store and buy a game without an outlined plan? Ha! Well, for those who aren't pre-order fans UbiSoft is currently holding a contest for access into the super-exclusive VIP demo when it launches.BTW - spoiler alert for EndWar, the war won't end. If it did what would the sequel be called? Tom Clancy's Fluffy Pony Adventures? Think about it.

  • Ubisoft CEO: Europe more important than US now

And he's not just saying that to make up for years of financial inequity and utterly perverse release schedules. "First, our money - the pound or the euro - is very strong and because of that the turnover from those countries is heavier than they used to be," Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot tells GamesIndustry.biz. "So for Ubisoft turnover Europe is actually more important than the US now, and by more than 5 per cent. It's become a very strong market for us."Guillemot suspects that's largely to blame on all the exercise Europeans have been getting with new accessories and more accessible games, the likes of which even include politically charged real-time strategy scuffle Tom Clancy's EndWar. "A game like EndWar, for example, which you can control by voice - it's totally changing the industry because it gives you the opportunity to command what's happening, and to have a quick answer to the orders you give." While Ubi and Yu-rop laugh all the way to the bank, remind yourself that EndWar totally changes the industry on October 14th on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

    08.17.2008

Update: In our deal excitement, we mistakenly informed everyone that Toys R Us was running a buy one get one free sale on all 360 games. Sadly, that isn't the case. It's actually a buy one get another HALF OFF sale. Our apologies, someone will be fired over this ... promise. This week, the usually Xbox 360 deal-lacking Toys R Us stores are holding a pretty solid week long sale where, for their entire 360 catalog, they're holding a Buy 1 Get 1 half off sale. On their entire catalog! That's pretty dandy ... you know, just saying. Next up, at Circuit City, they have GH: Aerosmith (game only) for $50, GHIII (game only) for $40 and are giving away a $10 gift card with purchase of SoulCalibur IV. This week at Best Buy, they have Quake Wars for $40 as well as a pre-order offer for EndWar to receive a beta invite and a pre-order offer to receive Infinite Undiscovery foil packaging. That's it from Best Buy. Finally, Target's one 360 deal is a free The Force Unleashed wall graphic with pre-order. Happy shopping!

  • E3 awards: Fallout 3 = Best of Show; LittleBigPlanet = Best Console game

This is it, folks. The winners of the official Game Critics Awards for E3 2008 – as chosen by 36 representatives (including yours truly) from most of the leading video game outlets – have been revealed. Leading the pack with two wins each are Fallout 3 – winner of "Best of Show" and "Best RPG" – along with LittleBigPlanet – winner of Best Console game and Best Social/Casual/Puzzle game. The top publisher was EA (just like in our own awards) with five wins, while Sony took second place with an impressive three wins. In terms of platform concentration, the Xbox 360 barely edged out the competition with eight wins versus both the PC and PS3's seven (for those of you keeping track, the Wii only managed one win and that was for its version of Madden 09). We've got the full list after the break, or check out the Game Critics site for the breakdown by publisher and platform or refresh your memory with this list of nominees in the various categories.

"Attack the enemy base!""Yes sir, I'll enter a foot race.""No, launch the missiles!""We'll harvest all nearby thistles.""Attack the enemy units. Please, listen to me.""Downloading latest DLC.""Oh ... just forget it."This doesn't happen in Tom Clancy's EndWar. It may be a sad comment on the history of in-game voice commands, but the best compliment one can give to Ubisoft's robust interface is that it works. There's no need to plead with it in a robotic tone or a slowed pace, and no voice training is required beforehand. Despite slipping in an "uh" here and there while contemplating orders, EndWar understood everything we said. Well, everything aside from the muttered curses prompted by our utter defeat.%Gallery-28196%

According to the rep EndWar will ship on October 14 in Europe and North America. What? Not familiar with Tom Clancy's EndWar? The upcoming real-time strategy game includes a voice-control option where players can issue commands through a headset rather than use traditional button presses (which you can also use).

According to Ubisoft, the console-oriented, real-time strategy game will march onto shelves in the US and Europe on October 14th. Update: Descending upon the footage with ninja swiftness (we assume) the video leak of EndWar has been pulled. With the beta ending in a few days we recommend that anyone attempting to do it again just let bygones be bygones and wait for some new, non-NDA footage. Or at least don't mention us 'cuz we think you're crazy!A few weeks ago we reported an EndWar beta tester leaked footage of the upcoming Tom Clancy RTS title -- non-disclosure agreement be damned. While reactions to our report of the leak were mixed, Ubisoft ended the controversy by putting the kibosh on the video. A little over an hour ago the same tester took it upon himself to upload a new clip of the beta -- which ends on July 7 -- taking our joking advice to "get a capture card, buddy."While we don't condone the action or recommend that anyone leak footage of anything under NDA, we chuckled when our name came up. At least we know someone listens to the dog and pony show that is the Xbox 360 Fancast. Also to give credit where it's due, it was our commander-in-chief (Rich) who threw out the capture card recommendation. Check out the footage above, before Ubisoft sends out the lawyer-ninjas.[Thanks, Keller]

Feeling down because you weren't selected to participate in Ubisoft's closed beta of Tom Clancy's EndWar? Well, pucker up soldier! Today Ubisoft has released more beta codes to gamers who have yet to hear back regarding the test, which ends on July 7. Still shrouded behind a curtain of NDA mystery, the RTS console title began initial online testing of its multiple modes and three multiplayer maps on June 17 with a rumored 15,000 players. No word on whether Ubisoft plans to release a third wave of codes for the beta or if the NDA will lift prior to the end of the test. Tom Clancy's EndWar is scheduled to release fall.[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

Update: Ubi lawyer-ninjas (totally different than ninja-lawyers) move quick. Video is down. It's off some guy's television screen and the audio is horrible, but if you're itching to see what Tom Clancy's EndWar looks like, some naughty beta-tester uploaded a video of the game for all to see. Now watch the video above and enjoy the fruits of somebody breaking their non-disclosure agreement (NDA). If the video suddenly disappears, the Ubi lawyer-ninjas probably got to it. Now we need to photoshop some lawyer-ninjas in case that actually happens. Watch ... while you still can.[Via X3F]
