The post is packed with content including player screenshots, artwork, profiles of Aion community managers, and a detailed accounting of the first western shard boss kills for both Sematariux and Padmarashka. Finally, check out the helpful how-to for those of you interested in designing your own legion cloak emblems, as there's a special emphasis on making logos with transparent backgrounds. • Aion producer addresses legion renaming

NCsoft producer Chris "Kinslon" Hager checks in to answer questions on the upcoming Aion server merges via this week's Eye on Community featurette. While NCSoft has explained both name change and item transfer policies in detail, it hadn't yet touched on how the server blending will affect legion names (legion being Aion's equivalent of a traditional MMORPG guild). "Because we have fewer legions than characters, we're able to be more hands-on with legion name collisions. Our customer service team is going through active and inactive legion names, and we will be changing names based on specific criteria (legion size, contribution points, and so on). Similar to how we are handling name changes, if your legion's name is changed, we will be adding a two-letter designation derived from the name of your original server to the end of the legion name and giving your brigade general a legion name change coupon. You'll notice changes to legion names over the next couple of days leading up to the merge," Hager explains. You can read the full feature on the official Aion website.

  • Aion offers six free server transfers per character

With NCsoft's upcoming Aion server merges looming, chances are you've taken the time to figure out where your daeva's new home is going to be (as well as marked your calendar to be sure you get first dibs on keeping your name). What you may not know is that you've got plenty of opportunities to test out the various Aion server communities after the merges are complete. In its weekly Eye on Community featurette, NCsoft answers a player-generated question about transfer specifics. "During the free character transfer period, characters you submit for transfer are placed in a collated list, together with transfer requests from other players. The transfers outlined in this list will all be executed at the same time during weekly maintenance. Because transfers are moved in a batch each week, you will be able to transfer your character up to six times before the 18th of August, when the free character transfer period ends. Our intent is to let you test the waters so that you can decide which server best suits you," says the featurette.

  • Aion roundup talks hot balaur hearts

The Aion community team has released their weekly Eye on Community roundup, and in addition to the usual news reviews and player spotlights, it features some information on forthcoming changes to the much-maligned Fenrir/Miragent pants quest, and the hot heart of magic components needed to complete it. "Crafting a hot heart of magic is no small feat -- unless you're insanely lucky, that is. Thankfully, we've made these quests much less painful with the 1.9 update. For starters, the amount of Boiling Balaur Blood Stains required for an attempt at the Hot Heart of Magic has been reduced to 100 instead of 125. This is complemented by the fact that Boiling Balaur Blood Stains now drop off normal and elite mobs of levels 43 -- 50. We expect that this will reduce the price of these components found on the Broker and make finishing the quest much more accessible," the roundup reads. Aion's latest Eye on Community is posted, and it appears that not everyone has had a happy Valentine's Day. This week's edition is light on game updates and heavy on fluff, with a list of community happenings and an in-game event surrounding a Shugo's lost love. The Shugo Jefnyerk must have come up with a pretty poor Valentine's gift for his Dianyerk, because the lady in question has wandered off. Multiple times. Eye on Community points out that in a 24 hour period she's been lost 87 times. The possibility that she may not want to be found doesn't occur to Jefnyerk, and he's asking for players to help find her. The quest runs periodically through Monday and can serve as a brief diversion from adventuring. Community events for the week were plentiful, including an upcoming PvP tournament, an Aion IRC community, and a few other goodies. Check out the official site for the full list.

Aion team member Tamat is back with the first Eye on Community for February, in which he answers player questions and talks a bit about what the developers have in store. This week's player question was regarding the fort timer surveys from a while back, and Tamat revealed that they've finished looking over the surveys and will be changing the capture timer to an hour next week. Eye on Community lived up to its name by providing a pretty extensive community roundup this time, directing players to a handy application to monitor server status, a guide to a couple of bosses (Kratia and Harpback -- if you're having trouble with them this is the place to go),a look a one players first month in Aion, and a new reason to keep one eye on the skies in PvP. Head over to the official Aion site to read the full Eye on Community.

The Aion team had plenty to say in the latest Eye on Community segment, released on Friday. The question of the week, unsurprisingly, centered around the nine-minute "Visions of the Future" trailer released recently. Fans have had a million questions, mostly different versions of "What is this, and when will I get to play it?" Since it's a work in progress, specific answers are unfortunately few. "Some of the features highlighted in the trailer are further along in the development process than others. Because of this, we aren't ready to share or speculate on timeframes." While it was exciting, the trailer wasn't the only recent news. The Aion team returned from DreamHack with photos and stories galore last Monday, the same day that they banned 26,000+ bot accounts. It looks like they had a bit of fun with the bot accounts, to which we say "more power to you!" The Aion community was active recently too, creating quite a few things that are worth looking into if you're an Aion player. The full Eye on Community entry can be read here.

See what they did there? Aion Community Manager Sebastian "Ayase" Streiffert admits it's a "shameless pun", but it's still fun. Eye on Community is a chance for you to share questions, accomplishments, and information about what's going on with Aion fans. As with any game launch, NCSoft has had issues to deal with since the game went live just under a month ago, and to give them due credit they seem to be handling the big issues fairly well. With some of the larger issues on their way to being solved, it looks like NCSoft is hoping to interact with the players a bit more. Hopefully this is a step toward being in tune with the Aion fans to keep the game moving in a direction that everyone is happy with. Well, as happy as a group of thousands of people can all be at once, anyway.Eye on Community begins with a question about community in EU Aion and the Legion system, so enjoy the read while we watch to see where NCSoft goes with this new feature.
