This week's Photoshop Phriday over at Something Awful once again relates to the wonderful world of video games, tasking fervent photochoppers to take their slicing and splicing skills into the kitchen. The cataclysmic combination of gaming and gourmet yields some absolutely ingenious (even delicious) results and should easily satiate your appetite for a good laugh. From Metal Gear Salads and organized crime omelettes to the frightening discovery of an obtuse vending machine in one of the ages of Myst, the selection is well worth sampling. [Image by Overbite. Somethings in life just makes you shake your head. Like how Dish Network just keeps on adding more and more high-def stations while DirecTV just added TNT-HD -- in February. Food Network is now officially broadcasting on Dish which brings their total high-def lineup to 30 stations. Some markets could have nearly 40 high-def stations coming into their dish once all the local stations are adding in and Dish Network could very well hit 31 stations if INHD materializes sometime soon. So where does this put DirecTV? They do have lots of football in HD thanks to their NFL Sunday Ticket but other then that...[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

  • Kojima loves analogies

The latest issue of Official Playstation Monthly featured a short interview with Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima. After comparing the three next-gen systems to food in a rather famous quote a year ago, Hideo now has a new view on the subject."Now, the PlayStation 3 is like a movie theater for people who want to see this movie on the big screen with THX and 5.1 audio, even if they have to pay a high price. The Xbox 360 is DVD. Basically, you don't know what movie you want to see, so you go to the store and see if you can pick up a good one. The Wii is like a TV for when you're home and you don't know what you want to watch but you [want to] have that variety."Yeahhhhh. Not really sure what that means, but Hideo has shown some major love for the Wii in the past, so it must be good. Anyone have some of their own interesting analogies they'd like to share?

  • MyFoodPhone diet aid app comes to Sprint

Dieting just got a little easier (or a little harder to cheat at, depending on how you look at it) for Sprint customers with cameraphones, thanks to the company's exclusive rollout of that MyFoodPhone service we first spotted nearly a year ago. Although the cost is much lower this time around -- only $10 per month compared to the pricey $150/month it once was -- the service works essentially the same as before, by providing customers with video feedback based on photos they snap and upload of each and every meal or snack they consume. Besides the bi-weekly vids from nutritional advisers, subscribers also have access to an online food journal, where they can log the all-important dieter's stats of weight lost, exercise performed, and calories burned. Sprint is positioning MyFoodPhone as only one part of an overall health and fitness regimen where your Vision-enabled phone can be of assistance, joining other services such as BIMActive exercise tracking, skynetMD medical info, and Hitech Trainer guided workouts.[Via picturephoning]

  • Don't buy the soda at Moscone

Ahh, I'm on the ground at Macworld. I can smell the Apple goodness. Everywhere I look I see an iPod ad, or a Mac person using a Powerbook. Methinks this is heaven. However, there is one thing that isn't right and it is the price of food at the convention center. I needed a good dose of Pepsi, so I sought some out. A 20 ouncer cost me $2.75. The woman in front of me paid over 8 bucks for a small sandwich. Luckily Macworld has compiled a list of cheap eats around Moscone for transport on your iPod, so I won't be making the same mistake twice.Who wants to grab lunch with me at some point this week?
