Well, this is a pleasant surprise. We've known for a while that Verizon would carry an LTE-capable Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, but the carrier has just put the massive tablet up for sale without any fanfare. Not that it's exactly an impulse buy. Samsung's cellular-equipped slate costs a hefty $850 at full price, and you'll only save $100 if you sign up for a two-year contract. If you're determined to stay online while you draw your latest masterpiece, though, you can order the Note Pro today.

You might not have to sign up with Verizon to buy a cellular edition of Samsung's Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 in the US. The gargantuan tablet has returned to the FCC, only this time in a variant with AT&T-native LTE and HSPA+ frequency support; it can also handle the big three Canadian carriers. The slate is otherwise much like its Verizon counterpart, although the absence of T-Mobile 3G means that the UnCarrier likely won't be selling this model, if it sells the Note Pro at all. There's also no certainty of an AT&T launch, but we can't imagine that Samsung repeated the FCC approval process just for laughs.

Brits won't have to wait long to (barely) get their hands on Samsung's Galaxy Note Pro 12.2. A WiFi-only version of the massive tablet is now available for pre-order in the UK at an equally large price of £649 ($1,076), with shipments due to start on February 4th. That's certainly expensive compared to what many are used to paying for Android devices, although Samsung is tossing in a free gamepad to sweeten the deal. As for cellular models or an American launch, the company isn't talking just yet -- however, we won't be shocked if either of them comes relatively soon.

Are you already planning to buy a Samsung Galaxy Note Pro or Tab Pro, but are worried that your mammoth tablet might go unprotected? Never fear, as Logitech has just unveiled a new Pro keyboard case that will shelter the 12.2-inch versions of both slates. While the design will look familiar to anyone who has seen one of Logitech's earlier folios, the Pro's extra space allows for a full, laptop-sized keyboard with a dedicated row of app shortcut keys. You will be paying a premium for going big, though, as the case will sell for $130 when it ships to the US in February.

In much the same way that smartphones are trending towards larger screens, it appears that manufacturers like Samsung are experimenting with the same concept in the tablet realm. The company has just introduced its latest (and largest) Android-running Galaxy Note device called the Note Pro 12.2. Announced alongside the Tab Pro 12.2 at CES, the Note Pro offers the same S Pen functionality we've enjoyed on previous devices like the Note 3 and Note 10.1 2014 edition, and as usual, you're going to see some refinements in Samsung's firmware and user experience as well. The device will be available in LTE, 3G and WiFi flavors and is expected to launch sometime this quarter in various parts of the world. As soon as we tried out the new Note Pro, we immediately noticed the size and weight difference compared to Samsung's 10.1-inch offerings. Regardless of how much you trim its bezel, a 12.2-inch tablet simply isn't designed for optimal portability, which means we're more likely to use it as a coffee table device, special projects or conferences in the office. It's just a little too awkward to hold for long periods of time. Aside from that and a glaring weight difference -- 753g (1.66 lbs) on the 12.2, versus 547g (1.21 lbs) on the 10.1 -- we were hard-pressed to find any variation between the 12.2-incher and the Note 10.1 2014 edition; it features the same design, button layout, "leather-like" back and display resolution (2560x1600, for a pixel density of 247 ppi). Other than that, what stands out on the 12.2, which runs Android 4.4 KitKat, is a few key new firmware features like Remote PC and Magazine UX. In the days leading up to CES, there are always a few unfortunate products that are prematurely outed by banners being put up over night. In this case, the victims are Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Note Pro and Galaxy Tab Pro, as shown by this massive ad at the South Hall of Las Vegas Convention Center. Stylus and SIM card slot aside, it's hard to tell what else the pictured Galaxy Note Pro has to offer. Its screen size is also a mystery here, though rumors are pointing at 12.2 inches, which would make it Samsung's largest mobile tablet to date. According to an earlier report by SamMobile, the Galaxy Tab Pro will come in two smaller sizes: 8.4 inches and 10.1 inches. All shall be revealed at Samsung's press conference in Las Vegas tomorrow afternoon, so stay tuned.
