Hey, UK-based readers: Do you feel like totally humiliating yourselves? You should look into Microsoft's "Game with Fame" competition, in which one lucky, Kinect Sports-playing family will compete in virtual track and field events against actual Olympians Linford Christie and Mark Lewis-Francis.

The details Microsoft is hosting a special Game with Fame event in which a few lucky Xbox owners will be able to watch a movie with Rob Zombie over Xbox Live. That film, unsurprisingly, is the unrated version of Rob Zombie's The Devil's Rejects. All you have to do is rent (SD 240/$3, HD 360/$4) or purchase (SD 800/$10, HD 1440/$18) the film from Zune Marketplace and send a friend request to RobZombie GWF. The event starts on Friday, February 19 at 8:00pm ET. If you get a party invite, then you get to watch "a selected segment" of the film with Rob Zombie, who will provide "a live director's commentary on the cruel and sadistic activities of the Firefly family." The grim reality that sets in if you win Now you have to think of something to talk about with Rob Zombie. • Game with Fame hints at Sept. 23 launch for Left 4 Dead DLC

    09.14.2009

We look forward to Xbox Live Game With Fame announcements, largely because of our lifelong dream to play Madballs in Bebo Invasion with U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack (someday!). There's even more reason to pay attention to the most recent one, as it claims fans will get a chance to play new Left 4 Dead DLC "Crash Course" on September 23rd. The power of deduction indicates that the DLC should be released on or before then, assuming it's not part of a special sneak preview. Oh, and in case you're curious, those selected for Game with Fame will be playing against the band Paramore. Left 4 Dead is probably the best thing they've played in some time. [Via VG247]

Following an apparently successful Game with Fame session with actress Megan Fox, Activision has announced that the developers behind Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will take on the community themselves this Friday. Excited? Well, there's a catch: The devs at Luxoflux will only be online playing the recently released Character & Map Pack Plus DLC, meaning interested gamers will have to throw down 800 ($10) to square off against the team. Of course, if you already own the DLC you're welcome to jump in this Friday, September 4, from 5PM to 9PM (Eastern) and participate in punching giant robots in the face. You know, kind of the same way Michael Bay punched our soul by making those two terrible movies. Check out the official Xbox.com page for a listing of Gamertags to friend request for the event.

Only those who rose (sigh) up to Microsoft's annual $50 multiplayer fee will find themselves in the online company of Megan Fox next week, when she plays Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen exclusively against Xbox Live Gold subscribers. The actress, self-outed Wii fan and professional runner-from-explosions will expect you to promptly log in by 5:30PM ET on Saturday, August 29 -- the session kicks off at 6PM sharp! In the meantime, you'll want to send a friend request to the following very real Gamertag: Megan Fox 2009. Please, don't be upset if you don't hear back right away. She probably needs to trim her friends list a bit to make room for you.

If referencing one of the world's most popular online games on a regular basis doesn't give them enough "geek cred," cast members of the popular "internet TV show," The Guild, will be on hand for a laundry list of events during this week's San Diego Comic-Con.Internet darling Felicia Day and other stars of The Guild are holding a panel discussion on Friday, July 24, at 10:30AM (Pacific), with promises of a sneak peak at season three of the show and an exclusive Comic-Con video. Festivities continue with The Guild panel signing autographs from noon until 1PM and conclude with a Game with Fame session where The Guild cast will throw down in some hardcore Marvel vs. Capcom 2 action at 2PM. The Guild: Season 3 is slated to hit Xbox Live this fall and our hearts always.

Hulk-loving artist, Shad Gregory Moss (aka, Bow Wow) is challenging gamers as April's Xbox Game With Fame celebrity. NBA Live 09 fans are invited to go up against the Tokyo Drift survivor today at 5:00PM ET on Xbox Live. If you're up to the task, make sure to add the Gamertag Bow Wow GWF -- Xbox.com has all the deets for the event. In case the possibility of playing against a "world-famous celebrity" is frightening to you, we've developed a list of questions you can ask Bow Wow. They include: Did you find your fizz? How does one procure fizz? If Train A leaves Berkeley at 1PM and Train B leaves Toronto at 4PM, at what point -- when they intersect -- will the fizz be made available? Can you please stop singing into the mic?

If you aren't doing too much this Sunday, then you may want to sit yourself down on the sofa, turn on your 360 (as if you weren't going to do that anyway) and play some Halo 3 with Wanted movie star James McAvoy, because he'll be online as part of Xbox.com's Game With Fame. And while sticking spiker grenades in his melon or filling his chest full of pink needles, you may be able to chat it up and talk about how Wanted co-star Angelina Jolie keeps her unnaturally supple lips so plump. Or you could question him about his supposed involvement in The Hobbit. Or you could just play Halo 3 and refrain from badgering him with annoying questions. But that's no fun. We demand our Jolie lip questions be answered!

Leaving behind thoughts of the nightmare that was our last Game with Fame attention whores, we're happy to spread word that musical group Korn's own Jonathan Davis will be jumping on Xbox Live to participate in some Halo 3 frag fun. Best thing, he's actually famous. As it's planned, Davis will be playing Halo 3 online on Wednesday, February 27th from Noon - 2:00PM eastern, but the catch is that he'll be gaming from Lisbon, Portugal. So, North American fanboys, be weary of the evil lag-monster. Shoot a friend request to gamertag "KORN Jonathan1" and hunker down Wednesday night, because we have a feeling a whole bunch of Korn will be popped (zing!)

  • Valentines gaming with MTV's Heidi and Spencer

    02.12.2008

So ... yeah. To celebrate Valentines Day love and as part of the Game with Fame reality Scripted-Reality-Show-People fun, MTV's The Hills "stars" (the term "star" being used very liberally) Heidi and Spencer will be online tonight playing Burnout: Paradise. Yup ...We aren't entirely sure who at EA had the great idea to setup such an event, seeing that The Hills isn't a show that instantly makes one think of Burnout: Paradise gamers (maybe their goal was to get your girlfriend excited to play Burnout?). And, for whatever reason, we're thinking one's Paradise street cred wouldn't get a boost if one were to play with Heidi. Actually, we think you'd be laughed at. But, it's your choice and if you want to tear up the streets with Heidi, Spencer and their surprise guests for Valentines gaming then send a friend request to ... wait a second. We aren't supporting this mockery of a GWF. You'll have to make the jump to get the details as we say boo to The Hills and boo to horrible marketing.
